1
For the next 72 hours, I'm going to be living here in the Amazon rainforest.
2
This video is not fake.
3
I'm literally getting dropped off and left on my own for four days and three nights.
4
Having to survive in a jungle which doesn't want to bear.
5
What the fuck?
6
This was the scariest and toughest three days of my life.
7
I am so hungry.
8
And it probably makes you wonder.
9
why on earth joe are you doing this well i believe
10
that the best way to conquer a fear is to challenge it face on and i'm a pussy
11
when it comes to creatures i'm awful like even the sea i've always been way too afraid to go in
12
because i just don't know what's down there i'm gonna be completely honest with you i'm really scared of you
13
so to face these fears i'm heading to the one place on earth
14
that truly frightens me the place
15
that has the most dangerous creatures on the planet i'm traveling over 50 hours you get off the plane
16
and you just walk straight out onto the street through harsh terrain to get deep into the amazon rainforest
17
i can't believe i'm doing this this place is like my worst nightmare
18
i paid this local to drop me off and pick me up in exactly 72 hours from this same spot
19
well i'm uh i'm well
20
and truly alone now stuck here until he comes back i made my way through the forest to try
21
and find a place to set up camp looks like a giant wasp nest stay away from
22
that you really don't know what's watching you in this forest
23
which is a very unsettling feeling okay this way i think
24
i'm going to set up the camp it doesn't look like much yet
25
but that's better you see there are four trees the idea
26
is to essentially build a roof from one tree to the other build a bed underneath that roof
27
and a fire underneath yes this is a full -on survival
28
video i only have access to my machete a spare top a cup a knife some basic fishing equipment
29
and a splint and steel oh
30
and of course some camera equipment the rain is crazy here so the roof is so important let's get materials
31
now another problem with the amazon is it's incredibly hot and humid and it just makes everything 10 times harder
32
this is f*ing tiring I was going at this for hours macheting taking to camp dropping off over and over again
33
that takes it out of you it is flipping humid here
34
i think i've got the materials now let's build this thing
35
i first put two wire sticks against two trees and then a stick it should should hold my weight now
36
mission success i then did the exact same thing on the other side of the tree
37
and then i added tons of long sticks to make the base of the roof
38
boom we've got a foundation for the roof now i need
39
to chuck loads of leaves on top to stop rain coming through it
40
and literally just as i was finishing up the roof
41
it has just started absolutely chucking it down i don't feel a drop of water on me right now
42
so the roof is a success i've made sure
43
that the roof is tilted so
44
when the heavy rainfall comes in it just flows right off
45
now sitting on the floor like this is incredibly stupid of me
46
because this is exactly where the vast majority of these venomous creatures live including the bullet ants
47
which has been recorded to have the most painful sting on the planet
48
so that's why i needed to build a bed badly
49
but honestly the rainforest takes it out of you i was
50
knackered i had to get it done by tonight ah fuck man just there ow ow
51
that really stings luckily whatever stung me it didn't last too long
52
so i knew it wasn't life -threatening now for the bed i used bamboo sticks
53
because they're quite flexible but i had no idea
54
if they'd hold my weight okay moment of truth it holds I had a fully functioning bed
55
which raised me off the ground oh
56
so there's less chance of creatures crawling all over me in the night still a very high chance
57
but less now that took a lot longer than you probably think like seven eight hours
58
so I'm gonna chill have a quick break then i need
59
to sort out a fire now as i was resting the
60
sun in the amazon went down i have been for the
61
last hour just getting an abundance of firewood the issue we're
62
facing is it rained earlier all of the wood is wet
63
so i don't know
64
if it's gonna like start a fire these mosquitoes man they're everywhere that's why this fire is incredibly important
65
but just as i started making the fire look what i've
66
just spotted literally right by where i'm setting up the fire
67
as a kid and my mom
68
and dad can vouch for me on this scorpions were my
69
biggest fear oh he's crawling into my wood now i waited for the scorpion to go
70
and got to making the fire
71
come on burn for me but the wood being wet made this really difficult watch
72
when i put sticks on how much it smokes and how much the flame disappears like the fire just wasn't catching
73
these sticks are incredibly wet which is the problem
74
but i needed this fire to stop the mosquitoes to boil water
75
so i could drink to cook food if i catch it
76
and me surviving relied on this but after a lot of patience
77
and building the size of the sticks up mission success listen to this noise
78
that whistling sound is the water in the wood we've made
79
it work just now i needed to keep the fire going
80
so i collected loads more firewood
81
and then i collected some river water boiled it up to remove the deadly parasites
82
and finally had my first drink since getting here
83
this was the first point where i genuinely just felt good
84
like i'd created my own base in bed with a fire
85
i had water i could drink for the first time i could just chill out for a bit
86
but this is the amazon
87
hell holy look at this look at this can you see
88
that a little friend had joined my base oh my fucking god there it is
89
that is massive there is a massive snake crawling on the
90
roof of my base right now what the fuck what the fuck this is a snake striking
91
and trying to bite me
92
and it was a very close call slightly concerned
93
because he's just lingering at the top of the tree like
94
when i go to sleep tonight is he just going to come down bite me and i'm dead i'll be For real, after that, I was pretty shook up.
95
It's been a knackering day.
96
Look at how sweaty my t -shirt is.
97
Oh, that feels nice.
98
I am just an absolute dirty, sweaty state right now.
99
I'm so tempted to go bathe in that river.
100
But then the other nine tenths of me is saying, fuck that.
101
I have no idea what is lurking under there.
102
But yeah, I'm gonna try and get some sleep.
103
So with that said, I will hopefully, if I don't get killed, see you all tomorrow.
104
that isn't sound effects what the fuck is that
105
it was incredibly difficult to sleep I mean it was
106
so humid I just kept hearing rustling in the bushes
107
and every hour I had to wake up to make sure the fire didn't go out
108
but I did manage to get a few hours
109
good morning people it's bright
110
and early i didn't get the greatest sleep last night i've
111
got about four hours in total right now i'm gonna collect some more firewood get some water
112
and then i need to think about food because i didn't eat anything yesterday
113
these palm trees produce something called heart of palm that little part in the middle is the food food.
114
Now these are basically just carb sticks.
115
It's not the greatest.
116
But I'm not in a five star restaurant, I'm in the Amazon.
117
And calories are calories.
118
These are the next pieces of food.
119
You break inside them, there's some small worms or grubs as they're known, which technically you can eat.
120
Fucking hell.
121
Oh my god, this is f*ing disgusting.
122
But you know what it actually tasted all right tastes like butter to be fair now the most important food
123
and what's really gonna get me through is the fish in
124
that river so using a piece of wood
125
that I burnt to make more flexible
126
and then attaching my fishing line to it created a little fishing rod the grub
127
that i ate earlier i was going to use as bait and with that said let's catch me some fish
128
i went at this for hours sitting here for like four
129
or five hours now really makes me appreciate my fish
130
and chip shop jokes aside i really needed to catch something come on give me
131
it's getting nothing absolutely nothing i am
132
so hungry right now i wanted it for a bit longer
133
but had no luck today's not been good words can't explain
134
how hungry i am right now don't think i've ever felt this skinny before in my life
135
so hungry in fact i tried to fish even more in the pitch black.
136
Look at this guy.
137
I don't know if that's poisonous.
138
Might be poisonous.
139
These mosquitoes bro.
140
But again had no luck with fishing so I headed back to camp.
141
The mosquitoes here are hell on earth.
142
Like no matter where you walk there's millions of them.
143
I'm starving.
144
I'm bitten everywhere.
145
I'm dirty.
146
Get me out of this place.
147
Honestly.
148
I really want to quit.
149
I really do.
150
I'm just gonna have to firm it and try and get some sleep.
151
I hear steps.
152
What could that be?
153
We've got jaguars out there, we've got humans, we've got anacondas, rattlesnakes.
154
That's to name 1 % of what's out there.
155
Fuck, this ain't gonna be a good night of sleep.
156
The hunger is bad, like I am starving.
157
So I've woken up bright and early, I'm just gonna go on with fishing.
158
See if maybe because it's earlier, there might be more fish out, I don't know.
159
I'm trying anything at this point.
160
I had to get food today.
161
come on come on yes i've finally done it we've caught
162
a piranha lads look at the teeth on this bird boy
163
never thought i'd eat a piranha in my life especially one that i've caught myself look at that beautiful
164
oh that tastes so good i absolutely devoured it
165
that was amazing i then
166
because i've had hardly any sleep the last two nights took a well -deserved nap
167
and after in the spirit of facing my fears in this video i'm gonna bathe in here
168
which i never thought i'd be doing this is known as
169
the deadliest water on the planet where i literally caught a piranha along with
170
that it has black caimans stingrays electric eels anacondas jaguars the wildlife in this water makes my skin crawl
171
on this and what the fuck is down there you can hear how much i'm hyperventilating
172
but remember i didn't even dare go in the sea before this
173
that's me done that's me done hey look any effort is
174
better than no effort i am a bit of a
175
but i did face my fears that was pathetic i know
176
but at least i went in look how bad the mosquito bites are all on me
177
when i got back to camp i heard a noise above my shelter that is mental my camp is literally here
178
there's the monkey
179
the monkey kept looking over
180
so it clearly spotted me i'm feeling good like for the
181
first time since getting here i'm actually in a good mood
182
i'll be honest this was the toughest thing i've ever done i hate
183
so many parts of it the amazon rainforest is a Beautiful place like even on the way here.
184
I was so close to calling it off But I'm so glad I pushed through it And we're done to go home.
185
That was the toughest thing I've ever done.
186
I've got like a 40 -hour journey home Morning, but when I get back, that's one.
187
There's one place.
188
I really want to go to
189
we've got fish and chips really makes me appreciate it's exactly what i was craving when i was out there
