I'm Brian.

In this video, we are going to talk about daily routines.

When I teach English, many students ask me, what is a routine?

And what is a daily routine?

I tell them that a daily routine is something that we do every day or almost every day.

In my life, I have a routine where I wake up at 7.30 a.m every day

and cycle on a cycling machine for one hour.

I do that every day.

So that is a routine that I have.

After I finish cycling, I go to the gym six days per week.

It is almost a daily routine, but I don't go on one day.

So it's not a daily routine.

It's just a routine that I do a lot.

Usually I exercise at the gym for 45 minutes.

Then I go home.

All of that exercising, the cycling and the gym, is my morning routine.

What do you do every morning or almost every morning?

After I finish exercising, I come home and my wife and I eat lunch together.

I am a very lucky man because she is very good at cooking.

Then, we spend time with our daughter.

And we do that until about 1 or 2 p.m.

Then we take a nap every day.

In America where I grew up people didn't take naps very much

but here in Vietnam people like to take naps and I like it too.

That is my routine around noon or it is my early afternoon routine.

In the later afternoon, my wife and I teach English together.

We usually finish teaching English at about 8 to 9 p.m.

Then we have dinner, get ready for bed, and go to sleep.

That is my evening routine.

Before I end this video,

let's talk about how to pronounce the word routine.

Some students let their tongue move a lot when they say er.

So, instead of saying routine, they say routine.

In English, especially American English like mine, we don't have the rrr sound.

So, when you say routine, do this with your tongue.

Take your tongue and move it up and back.

Rrr, rrr, rrr, like that.

Routine.

It doesn't wiggle.

It just goes up and back.
