My name is Teacher Ron and I will be doing these mind maps with you.

Now there are three things we want to focus on.

First is learning new words, so building up your vocabulary.

The second thing is pronunciation, how we say a word.

Okay, and then the third one is how we use it in sentences with examples.

Great, let's start.

First mind map, you can see there are six words, so let's start with them.

I've got some pictures with me to show you.

So starting with, this is a book.

A book has pages.

A book is filled with pictures.

We can turn pages.

This is a car.

Cars drive on roads.

A car takes us places.

Some cars are fast.

Other ones are slow.

This is a balloon.

Balloons are colourful.

Balloons can float in the air.

This is an apple.

An apple is a tasty fruit.

We can munch on apples.

I like apples, do you?

This is a bird.

It rests on a fence or in a tree.

It can fly and it can sing.

I can't really sing, can you?

This is a hat.

Hats go on our heads.

It can keep us cozy.

It can shade us from the sun.

Wat is de Shadowing-techniek?

Shadowing is een wetenschappelijk onderbouwde taalleermethode die oorspronkelijk is ontwikkeld voor professionele tolkentraining en gepopulariseerd door polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. De methode is eenvoudig maar krachtig: je luistert naar native Engelse audio en herhaalt het onmiddellijk hardop — als een schaduw die de spreker volgt met slechts 1–2 seconden vertraging. In tegenstelling tot passief luisteren of grammaticadrills, dwingt shadowing je hersenen en mondspieren om echte spraakpatronen tegelijkertijd te verwerken en te reproduceren. Onderzoek toont aan dat het de uitspraaknauwkeurigheid, intonatie, ritme, verbonden spraak, luisterbegrip en spreekvaardigheid aanzienlijk verbetert — waardoor het een van de meest effectieve methoden is voor IELTS Speaking-voorbereiding en echte Engelse communicatie.
