1
We've all had one of those friends.
เราทุกคนคงเคยมีเพื่อนแบบนั้นอยู่คนหนึ่ง
2
Never broke, never shy, always looking flawless, succeeding in every aspect of their life.
ไม่เคยขาดแคลน ไม่เคยอายน้อย มีแต่หน้าตาที่ดูไร้ที่ติ และประสบความสำเร็จในทุกๆ ด้านของชีวิต
3
But what if I told you it's not luck, it's not genetics, and is almost certainly not waking up at 5am drinking a celery juice and journaling in your £50 notebook.
4
We can all be that woman
5
because the truth is the women who actually set themselves apart
6
the one percent women live by a completely different set of rules
7
and today i'm breaking down the seven habits
8
that make the biggest difference using science hello
9
if you are new here then my name is fey i'm a doctor working in london
10
and now my life runs like a well-oiled machine however
11
that was absolutely not the case i have failed i have flopped i have fallen flat on my face
12
and documented every single step of the way in hopes
13
that I can help others not flop in the same way by being obsessed with the psychology
14
and science behind self-development and living a happier healthier life so
15
if that sounds like a little bit of you then the subscribe button is just down there
16
so habit number one we need to talk about the power pierce
17
and I do not think there is another habit
18
that is as important as this one I'm about to talk about
19
because you can definitely become a top one percent woman without the genetics however
20
if you have mummy and daddy's money to fall back on then that definitely helps.
21
Unfortunately I was not blessed with the bank of mum
22
and dad and I also think that by not coming from a wealthy background there's also huge disadvantages in
23
the way money is talked about and the attitudes that you grow up having about money.
24
Financial empowerment is crucial for women and we've come
25
so far since the first time women were allowed credit cards in the 60s
26
but we still have so much further to go.
27
The wealthiest most successful women don't just save money.
28
Have you seen the regular interest rates on savings accounts at
29
the moment? no no no no no they make their money work for them in their sleep
30
when they're at work
31
when they're out enjoying themselves their money is growing without them having to lift a finger
32
and to do that they educate themselves financially
33
so they know exactly the best
34
and safest way to move with power in this dreadful economy a 2024 study by fidelity investments actually revealed
35
that 71 percent of women now own investments in the stock market, an 18% increase from the previous year.
36
This uptick is significant yet the challenges still remain.
37
Studies show that women on average are actually better investors than men
38
because they take a more strategic long-term approach but they also invest less, often due to lack of confidence or financial education.
39
I also think this is a really important topic especially in the age where trad lives are making a comeback.
40
Stop seeing money as a way to buy luxuries but your ticket to a life of comfort and security.
41
Having the stability to leave a marriage you hate or a job that is burning you to the ground.
42
I know it's overwhelming but I strongly feel as though this culture around it being rude
43
and unbecoming to talk about money is meant to keep women
44
and anyone who doesn't come from a privileged background away from learning about money so they are stuck.
45
But to help with the overwhelm we're going to start small.
46
Read a book on investing, do a skillshare class on budgeting, stop saying that you are bad with money.
47
You're not, you just haven't learned yet.
48
Habit number two, trust capital.
49
And this one is for the girlies who say they're going to do something and never actually do it.
50
I'm looking at you and not with judgment I promise
51
because I have been there but the top one percent of women do not break promises with themselves.
52
If you tell a friend that you're going to meet them for coffee you'll turn up
53
but when you promise yourself that you're going to go to the gym, wake up early, start a business, suddenly that becomes optional.
54
Why do you have more respect for your friend's time than your own.
55
Maybe it's because you know that you can't rely on yourself.
56
Top 1% women know that confidence doesn't come from affirmations in the mirror.
57
It comes from self-trust.
58
Every time you keep a promise to yourself, you build evidence that you can rely on you.
59
Every time you follow through on a commitment, every time you make a financial investment,
60
the more confident and disciplined you become because you learn to trust yourself again.
61
A 2021 study in the Journal of Behavioural Medicine tracked 500 people for 18 months.
62
Those who kept micro-promises to themselves like walk 10 minutes every
63
single day saw a 4% higher goal adherence than those chasing big wins.
64
Why?
65
Because every promise kept releases dopamine rewiring your brain to associate action with reward and trust yourself again.
66
So what's the key here?
67
High achieving women don't rely on motivation.
68
They build self-trust capital by starting small, proving that they can be trusted with a little and progressing to trusting themselves with a lot.
69
So your homework.
70
Tonight, if you say you're going to read 10 pages before bed. Do it.
71
The action doesn't even really matter.
72
The more important thing is proving to yourself you do what you say you're going to do.
73
Habit number three, the refuse reset.
74
As women, we're taught to be polite, quiet, go along with the flow,
75
pretend to be a little duck floating along the surface whilst our legs frantically kick below.
76
All of this means that women often struggle saying one of the most important words in the English language,
77
no. Research shows that women are more likely to suppress their emotions,
78
take on others' burdens, and overextend themselves in both professional and personal spheres.
79
It's deeply ingrained in our social conditioning.
80
We're taught to be caretakers, nurturers, and people pleasers, but not being able to say no isn't just a one-way ticket to burnout town.
81
There's also research to suggest it has pretty serious consequences.
82
Studies consistently show that chronic emotional suppression, essentially the act of bottling up our feelings and constantly prioritising others over ourselves,
83
can significantly impact women's health.
84
A 2018 study found
85
that women who consistently suppress their emotions are at a higher risk of autoimmune diseases like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
86
The research suggests that emotional suppression triggers chronic stress which can suppress the immune system over time,
87
leading to inflammation and higher susceptibility to illness.
88
And that's before we even get into mental health conditions.
89
If you constantly say yes to things that drain you, then you are running on borrowed energy and at some point it's gonna run out.
90
The good news is if the big NO is absolutely terrifying to you then you can start small.
91
Begin by simply acknowledging how it makes you feel to even think of saying the word no. It's normal
92
and this is all part of how to retrain your brain.
93
You don't need to deliver a long-winded excuse, apology or even white lie because that is almost just as stressful in itself.
94
Instead here are a couple sentences I would like you to swiftly add to your vocabulary.
95
I'd love to but I can't right now.
96
Or simply, that doesn't work for me.
97
You don't owe anyone an explanation.
98
Protect your peace as if your life depends on it because quite honestly it does.
99
Number four, the mirror rule.
100
Why do some people fail and others seem to always succeed?
101
The answer may lie in a part of the brain called the visual cortex
102
and here is how you are going to hijack it.
103
A lot of people fail
104
because they seem to set vague goals like I want to be successful
105
but the top 1% women they get specific they create a vision
106
so clear that they can see it they can feel it and step into it on a daily basis.
107
A 2019 nature neuroscience study found that vivid mental imagery activates the brain's occipital lobe
108
which is the vision center and the prefrontal cortex which is the planning hub of the brain.
109
This creates a mental blueprint that drives action forward.
110
So what does any of this actually mean?
111
It means that research into cognitive neuroscience shows us that
112
when you visualize something in detail your brain lights up as if you're actually experiencing it.
113
This strengthens neural pathways which are the connections within our brain
114
that make your goals feel more achievable and you go from dreaming to acting.
115
Every year there are two activities I do without fail that help me tap into the visual cortex of my brain.
116
Firstly is the perfect day exercise.
117
This is basically where every single year I write out my perfect day one year from now
118
and I always get into the nitty-gritty specifics of the day.
119
Where I wake up, what does the room look like, what does it smell like, what do I eat for breakfast, what can I see, what can I feel, what are the thoughts going through my head, everything.
120
And then with this clarity I've got from the perfect day exercise I then move on to create a vision board.
121
I'm sure you've heard of vision boards before but here's the catch.
122
Generic vision boards do not work.
123
You need neuroscience backed specificity to make a vision board that truly shapes the direction of your future.
124
If you're clueless about where to start like I was, I used the Skillshare class
125
inspiration to reality making a vision board for your goals to
126
hack my brain to become laser focused on my goals skillshare

135

136
Trust me, your future self will thank you.
137
Habit number five, the energy audit it.
138
If there's one thing about top 1% women is that they don't just let life pass them by,
139
they regularly reflect but even more than that they get scientific, they evaluate what they eat, what they read, what they watch,
140
what they listen to and who they spend time with.
141
It's this ongoing process of refinement, a way to optimise every single aspect of their life and if that sounds horrifically
142
controlling and terrifying to you then I'll tell you something that I found way more terrifying.
143
Last year I spent four months working as a doctor in palliative care.
144
I saw way too many people who had their lives cut short way too young.
145
It completely changed my perspective on my own life
146
and for some people it might have pushed them towards having a bit more of a f* it attitude.
147
I'm going to be dead anyway.
148
Drinking more, going out more, doing more reckless things, quitting my job and traveling.
149
But it actually had the opposite effect for me.
150
I realized how precious life is
151
and I didn't want to waste time doing anything I didn't want to do
152
or giving energy to anyone that I didn't want to give energy to.
153
So yes, wanting to refine every single aspect of my life is probably a little bit scary
154
but it is not as scary as dying in your 30s and having so many regrets.
155
Everything that we consume affects our energy and our experiences.
156
Research by the National Institute of Mental Health shows that brains are highly malleable which means that they can be shaped.
157
A phenomenon known as neuroplasticity.
158
So when you expose your brain to
159
that negative person in your life who always makes you feel worse
160
or scrolling endlessly through social media that makes you feel bad.
161
You are literally shaping your brain.
162
Studies reveal that regular exposure to negative stimuli can increase levels of cortisol, the stress hormone in the body,
163
leading to a perpetual state of fight or flight.
164
This chronic state of stress can impair your focus, slow down your cognitive function and even negatively affect your physical health.
165
On the other hand intentional mindful consumption through a balanced diet meant to fuel you,
166
reading uplifting material and listening to enlightening podcasts
167
or my personal favourite just spending time with positive people rewires your brain for focus optimism and emotional resilience.
168
Am I saying you need to cut everything negative out of your life tomorrow?
169
No. Negativity is also part of the human experience and it's a natural emotion.
170
However, as a top 1% woman, you are regularly going to conduct a energy audit to make sure
171
that at least 80 to 90 percent of your life is filling your brain with the good stuff.
172
Habit number six, social currency.
173
You've probably heard the saying your network is your net worth
174
but when it comes to high achieving women the concept runs much deeper than just collecting contacts.
175
But I know what you're going to say, Faye I am ridiculously busy.
176
I barely have enough time for the people I love in my life at the moment.
177
How on earth am I going to pull time out of thin air to develop close, meaningful connections with the people who can open doors for me?
178
Well, the answer might actually be easier than you think.
179
A study from Harvard found that close connections like family, friends and long-time colleagues account for only 16% of new opportunities.
180
The other 84%, they all come from weak ties.
181
These are the acquaintances that you may not interact with on a regular basis, but you may be significantly overlooking.
182
The reason weak ties are so powerful is that they expose you to new ideas.
183
A 2020 study found that those with a broader and more diverse network,
184
especially in weaker connections, are more likely to find job opportunities, entrepreneurial ventures and creative collaborations.
185
In fact, researchers found that weak ties often provide access to information
186
that close ties simply cannot offer since close circles tend to share similar information, perspectives and resources.
187
I used to get so stressed out whenever I went to a networking event
188
because I felt as though I had to become best friends with everyone
189
and I do not have the emotional capacity for that.
190
Then networking events became overwhelming and I shied away from them
191
and I just felt as though it wasn't for me and gave up.
192
But this perspective completely changed that.
193
Building social currency doesn't mean that you have to be best friends with everyone.
194
It means engaging and being open with the people who have the potential to help you evolve, even if they're not the people that you interact with most.
195
And if you are still feeling a little bit anxious at any sort of networking event, remember this, your future self is already in the right room with the right people.
196
You just haven't met them yet.
197
Finally, habit seven.
198
I know I said habit one was probably the most important but I actually think this one is.
199
We need to talk about the bounce back code.
200
If I ever failed in the past I always used to take
201
that as a sign that it wasn't cut out for me.
202
So for example if I gave up on a new year's resolution to go to the gym every morning I wasn't sporty.
203
If I failed an exam when I was trying to get into medical school I wasn't smart enough.
204
Or if I made a video on YouTube and it kind of flopped.
205
My YouTube career was over, it was time to turn off the camera
206
and go back to my normal job until probably the most important realization of my adult life.
207
I'm gonna say this once and I'm going to need you to listen really really really hard.
208
High achievers know that failure is not an end point, it is just a step forward on their path for success.
209
Every single time we fail we have another data point.
210
Why didn't I stick to that new year's resolution and what can I learn from it?
211
Why did I fail on that exam and what can I learn from it?
212
Why did my YouTube video flop and what can I learn from it?
213
Unfortunately this mentality isn't something we're born with, it's built.
214
According to the Journal of Personality and social psychology.
215
Resilience aka this ability to bounce back is largely shaped by cognitive
216
reframing which is essentially how we perceive the challenges that we face.
217
Instead of seeing failure as a setback resilient people see it as a learning opportunity.
218
Research from psychology science found that individuals with greater resilience had better emotional regulation,
219
greater life satisfaction and enhanced well-being.
220
Resilient women don't just recover, they become stronger.
221
Now all these habits are wonderful
222
but do you know how to build habits into your daily life so that they actually stick?
223
