1
Dallas Raines joining us now with the AccuWeather forecast.
2
Marie is a hurricane now.
3
It is a hurricane.
4
80 miles per hour winds down there.
5
Mark, we're going to be looking at that.
6
Also, we're kind of protected here in Southern California by this cold, what we call the California current.
7
That's that cold water up there.
8
But every once in a while, a storm can get into Southern California.
9
This one now has 80 mile an hour winds.
10
The eye, you're starting to see it.
11
It's more than likely going to become a two.
12
So let's look at the computer modeling on it.
13
Two means the winds could be around 100 to 110 miles per hour, and it will be in a position to produce a swell
14
that will come into Southern California just in time for the holiday weekend.
15
Now, we look at the spaghetti plots.
16
Most of the action stays offshore.
17
It's not impossible.
18
It's not zero probability that what's left of it could come into Southern California directly.
19
I don't think that's going to happen, but we're still going to see a lot of effects from it.
20
When we look around for the weekend, it's all about the humidity coming in.
21
The next two days look great.
22
But by Saturday and Sunday, a chance of rain showers in SoCal.
23
And it's humid.
24
And that's going to last into Monday, too.
25
So very warm temperatures.
26
Looking at the satellite view tonight, that area of low pressure, which is off of Medford tonight.
27
Look at Medford.
28
It's raining tonight in Medford and 57 degrees.
29
So this has been wonderful for us.
30
has kept temperatures nice and cool relatively for this time of the year.
31
And that's gonna kind of spin around up there a while.
32
But eventually, what's left over from Marie will make its way up to the north, and some of it will be sheared off into Southern California.
33
When that happens, we'll have a chance of some showers, a big swell comes in, but for tomorrow, really enjoy this great weather.
34
Look at Lake Elsinore tomorrow, 85 degrees, Palm Springs right at 100.
35
Oh my goodness, even in the western San Fernando Valley, Northridge at 85 tomorrow and Thousand Oaks, not even 80 degrees, 79.
36
Here's some of the forecasts in the next two days look really good.
37
And then what's left over from Marie starts to come in on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
38
At this moment, I have about a 30% chance of rain and humid conditions.
39
That's a weather change alert, and that lasts into Labor Day, too.
40
Then beyond that, we start to clear up.
41
What's left of the storm will be over, and we'll start to clear up and start to warm up, too.
42
Out there in the valleys, it's warm, but nice, and then it gets humid over the weekend as temperatures remain in the mid to upper 80s,
43
but humidity levels will go up into the 65 and 70% rain.
44
So two more days of the dry weather and then it's over.
45
As far as the beaches go, look at the swell I'm forecasting starting late Friday into Saturday and Sunday.
46
Some faces could be anywhere between 8 and 10 feet.
47
Well, that's a big swell.
48
And of course, there'll be a lot of rip currents with that too.
49
If you're headed to the mountains, I've got clear skies for you the next two days.
50
Then a chance of showers or thunderstorms into Sunday and Monday, about a 30 to 40% chance and the deserts have been beautiful past couple of days.
51
We're going to keep that way.
52
But then over the weekend, we do see a chance of showers and maybe even thundershowers.
53
It starts to get humid too on Saturday and Sunday as we watch Marie making its way closer to Southern California.
