Animals have special body parts to help them catch and eat their food.

A chameleon, for example, has a tongue that is two times longer than its body.

It can stretch this tongue far to reach its food.

The tip of the tongue is sticky, which makes sure the food sticks as the tongue is pulled back into the mouth.

Next, we have birds like eagles.

They have pointy beaks and big claws called talons.

These help them catch and also end the life of the food they catch.

Many animals also use teeth to help them eat.

The type of food an animal eats often decides the size and shape of their teeth.

Animals that eat plants, called herbivores, usually have strong flat teeth to help them grind down grass and leaves.

Animals that eat other animals, called carnivores, often have big canine teeth.

These teeth help them catch and hold on to their food.

So from long sticky tongues to pointy talons and different types of teeth,

animals use many tools to help them catch and eat their food.
