The Assembly will now hear an address by His Excellency Muhammad Shabazz Sharif,
2
Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
3
His Excellency, and I invite him to address the Assembly.
4
O believers, do not get into your homes without saluting the residents.
5
This is better for you.
6
Please, oh, remember.
7
Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen,
8
I am honored to address this August Assembly for the fourth time on behalf of the 240 million resilient
9
and peace -loving people of Pakistan.
10
I congratulate Mr. Khalil Rahman on his election as President of the 81st
11
General Assembly Session, and I assure him of Pakistan's full support.
12
I thank Our Excellency Ms. Annalina Baerbock for her able stewardship of the 80th Session.
13
I also convey Pakistan's sincere appreciation to U .N.
14
Secretary General Mr. Antonio Guterres for his dynamic leadership and his strong advocacy for the U .N.
15
and the global south, particularly for the downtrodden and the poor.
16
The pursuit of peace, Mr. President, is among the noblest of human endeavors.
17
The Holy Quran commands
18
If the enemy is inclined towards peace, make peace with them.
19
Ladies and gentlemen, Pakistan's founding father,
20
Kaidiazim Muhammad Ali Jannah, had famously declared we stand by the United Nations Charter
21
and will gladly make our full contribution to the peace and prosperity of the world.
22
These pearls of wisdom have shaped Pakistan's national ethos and guided our conduct at home and abroad.
23
The unanimous adoption of Resolution 2788 on Strengthening Mechanisms for
24
Peaceful Settlement of Disputes under Pakistan's UN Security Council Presidency demonstrated our unwavering commitment to global peace.
25
Mr. President, unfortunately, in February this year,
26
conflict engulfed gulf, along with wider Middle East.
27
Precious lives were lost.
28
Economies suffered.
29
Critical maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormus, came under severe pressure.
30
At this critical moment, Pakistan chose to act swiftly.
31
Through concerted efforts, Pakistan successfully brought Washington and Tehran under one roof in Islamabad.
32
From the Islamabad talks to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,
33
many historic steps were taken to bring an end to this serious conflict.
34
Here, I deeply appreciate
35
Field Marshal Shahid Asim Munir, Pakistan's Chief of Defense Forces
36
and Chief of the Army staff whose relentless efforts help create space for diplomacy under exceptionally difficult and challenging circumstances.
37
I would also like to comment the efforts of our Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hsagdar, on this behalf.
38
Regrettably, Mr. President, recently we have witnessed a dangerous surge of hostilities.
39
Yet amid the roar of missiles,
40
drones and guns, the voice for diplomacy must echo even louder and stronger.
41
The state of Hormus and Babal Mandap are arteries of the global economy.
42
They must remain open, connecting nations, not becoming choke points of confrontation.
43
These waters must carry the promise of prosperity, not the perils of war.
44
Excellencies, we once again condemn in the strongest possible terms the
45
recent deplorable attacks by the Houthis against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
46
The attempted drone attack on the holy city of Makkah -tul -Mukarama has outraged
47
Muslims across the globe.
48
So, any threat to the safety and sanctity of the Hermann Cherefan is a red line that must never be crossed.
49
No Muslim can even dare to think of committing such a heinous crime.
50
Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia, as we always have throughout our history.
51
Ladies and gentlemen, our enduring commitment to peace is also reflected by the historic Mecca Joint Defense Agreement among the brotherly countries
52
Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan.
53
This alliance is not directed against any country.
54
It is a collective commitment for defense, stability, and peace in the region.
55
and nothing more.
56
Mr. President, a year ago, Pakistan faced external aggression from India under a false pretext.
57
Pakistan exercised its inherent right of self -defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
58
Our brave and valiant armed forces under the courageous leadership of Field Marshal Sayyid Asim Munir responded with Persian and professionalism.
59
They silenced the enemy, repulsed its attack, and taught it a lesson it shall never, ever forget.
60
And, of course, thanks to President Donald Trump's resolute and visionary leadership
61
that hundreds of millions of lives in South Asia was saved.
62
His timely intervention came at a decisive juncture when two nuclear armed neighbors stood at the brink of an all -out war.
63
And who knows, Mr. President, the extent of devastation that could have taken place had
64
President Trump not stepped in at this critical moment with clarity of thought and action.
65
Mr. President, we must therefore ensure that
66
South Asia never reaches that precipice ever again.
67
But this requires a just and fair solution of the Kashmir dispute.
68
For eight decades, the Kashmiri people have waited for the United Nations to fulfill its solemn commitment of a free
69
and impartial plebiscite under its auspices.
70
Generations have endured illegal occupation,
71
arbitrary detention, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, sexual violence and collective punishment.
72
More recently there have been attempts to alter the illegal status of Jammu
73
and Kashmir through demographic re -engineering and other illegal measures.
74
Helpless Kashmiri mothers and fathers yearn for their sons and daughters who never return.
75
Their homes lie silent under curfew and in deep grief.
76
For many, There is no closure, only a lifetime spent searching for graves that bear no names.
77
Mr. President, from this podium,
78
I assure my Kashmiri brothers and sisters with fullest authority at my command that we shall continue to extend our full diplomatic,
79
political and moral support to them till they are granted their inalienable right to self -determination.
80
Kashmir has and always will be Pakistan's juggler wing.
81
Excellencies, another foundation of stability in South Asia is now under strain.
82
The shared waters of the Indus River system are the lifeblood, not only for the people of Pakistan,
83
but for the entire region.
84
India's unilateral decision to hold the existing treaty in abeyance has no legal basis whatsoever.
85
However, in fact, both its claims and actions have been rejected by UN experts and more recently by the Court of Arbitration.
86
Our legitimate stand that the treaty remains valid,
87
binding, and fully operative has been vindicated beyond any ray of doubt.
88
Ladies and gentlemen, water must never be weaponized.
89
Rivers should nourish nations, not divide them.
90
Therefore, any attempt to stop,
91
impede or divert Pakistan's share of the waters will be treated as an act of war.
92
So, India must make no mistake about it.
93
Ladies and gentlemen, for generations, Palestinians, particularly women, children, and the elderly,
94
have been subjected to occupation, eviction, suffering and death.
95
Last year, Mr. President, I had shared with you the heart -wrenching story of Hind Rajab,
96
an innocent Palestinian girl who was brutally shot by Israeli soldiers.
97
This year, another tragedy weighs heavy on our hearts, your hearts, and the world's heart.
98
This time, it is the deafening cries of the sobbing mother of eight -year -old Wafa Akila,
99
who embraced martyrdom in this senseless aggression.
100
What should have been the first day of her school, alas, became the last day of her life.
101
Does not a child born in Gaza deserve the same life
102
and the same future and same dream as a child anywhere else in the world?
103
The tragedies of Hinder Rajab,
104
Wafa Akilah, and countless others will echo through history as an indictment of our collective silence,
105
failure, and inaction.
106
Excellencies, it is deeply worrying that
107
Israeli violence has now spread to the West Bank,
108
where the forcible eviction of Palestinians clearly reflects Israel's genocidal agenda, which continues unabated.
109
Pakistan believes that the only just and lasting solution is the creation of an independent,
110
sovereign, viable, and contiguous state of Palestine based on the pre -1967 borders with Al -Quds Al -Sharif as its capital.
111
We also, ladies and gentlemen, we also condemn continued
112
Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Syria.
113
This too must stop immediately.
114
Ladies and gentlemen, Terrorism remains one of the gravest threats to international peace and security.
115
As a frontline state in combating the menace of terrorism, we have fought terrorists in our own cities,
116
in our own mountains, and along our frontier.
117
Pakistan sacrificed almost 100 ,000 precious lives and suffered economic losses exceeding $150 billion dollars.
118
The world is safer today and let me say this in all humility.
119
The world is safer today thanks to the valuable sacrifices of our valiant armed forces and brave civilians
120
who took on these terrors and mercenaries.
121
The peace -loving world must never forget this reality.
122
Afghan territory continues to be exploited by the TTP, Fitnal Khawarij, and the BLA, Fitnal Hindustan.
123
These foreign -funded groups operate from sanctuaries inside Afghanistan with the aim of destabilizing Pakistan.
124
All such attacks, including incursions from the territory of Afghanistan, must come to a grinding halt.
125
The Afghan authorities must fulfill their international commitment and take verifiable, decisive action to ensure that
126
Afghan soil is never again used against Pakistan or any other country.
127
Fundamental rights of the Afghan people,
128
especially women and girls, must be respected under all circumstances.
129
Mr. President, the United Nations peacekeeping remains one of the strongest expressions of collective security.
130
For decades, Pakistani men and women have served under the blue flag protecting civilians and helping countries emerge from conflict.
131
We are proud of their Valuable Sacrifices.
132
Ladies and gentlemen, the alarming rise in Islamophobia is deeply worrying as Muslims face hate speech,
133
discrimination, attacks on mosques, and desecration of the Holy Quran.
134
Just across our border, RSS -driven Hindutva ideology is fanning religious hatred,
135
leading to lynching, communal violence, attacks on places of worship, and restrictions upon religious freedom.
136
The demolition of the 150 -year -old mosque in Saharanpur, India, earlier this month, is a case in point.
137
Therefore, Mr. President, religious hatred must have no place in this world at all.
138
Mr. President, Pakistan's economic revival remains a defining responsibility of my government and a mission that is very close to my heart.
139
Through difficult, long -overdue structural reforms and stringent fiscal discipline,
140
we have restored macroeconomic stability and begun the journey towards sustainable and inclusive growth we are modernizing agriculture and industry
141
developing mineral resources digitizing our economy and equipping our youth with modern ai
142
and it skills we are opening new pathways with china through the china pakistan economic corridor as well as with the Gulf,
143
Central Asia, and beyond.
144
Here I pay tribute to the visionary leadership of President Xi Jinping for spearheading the Global Development Initiative,
145
the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative.
146
On these pillars, we can surely build a shared future for mankind.
147
Mr. President, developing countries are in dire need of timely debt relief,
148
affordable long -term financing, and a stronger voice in global financial institutions.
149
Development must receive the same urgency as security.
150
Ladies and gentlemen, is it not an irony of fate that Pakistan contributes less than 1 % of global emissions,
151
yet repeatedly bears the horrific consequences of climate change?
152
Developed countries must therefore honor their climate finance commitments without delay, fund loss and damage speedily,
153
and ensure support for adaptation and resilience.
154
Excellencies, the theme of this session calls upon us to restore trust.
155
But trust cannot be restored by simple words alone.
156
It must be earned through action.
157
Through behavior, we will restore trust when rivers become lifelines of cooperation,
158
not fault lines of conflict.
159
We will restore trust when those who fueled the climate crisis protect those who suffer most from its devastating consequences.
160
And, above all, trust will be restored when the guns are silenced and replaced by handshakes,
161
embraces, and smiles.
162
Mr. President, the UN -80 initiative should make the United Nations stronger, more coherent, and more effective.
163
The Security Council must become more representative, democratic, and accountable.
164
Reform must reflect the interests and aspirations of the overwhelming majority of Member States,
165
not the ambitions of a select few.
166
Our motto remains, reform for all, privilege for none.
167
Ladies and gentlemen, we live at a dangerous moment,
168
but our future is certainly not predetermined.
169
Therefore, of course, war is a choice, But peace is also a far better choice.
170
And sometimes the greater courage lies not in starting a war,
171
but in preventing one.
172
Pakistan has made its choice.
173
We have chosen dialogue over confrontation.
174
We have chosen cooperation over coercion.
175
We have chosen peace over war.
176
Mr. President, let this 81st
177
Assembly make it a unanimous choice for ourselves,
178
for our children, and for generations yet unborn.
179
Let us, therefore, restore trust.
180
Let us, therefore, preserve peace.
181
And let us prove that even in a divided world, humanity can still choose to stand together.
182
I thank you, Pakistan.
183
Thank you.
