1
Hi, yo, what's up everyone?
Chào mọi người, có gì mới không?
2
Welcome back to Podcast and Chill.
3
I'm Leo.
4
And I'm Gwen, Leo's favorite emotional support human.
5
How's everyone doing lately?
Dạo này mọi người thế nào rồi?
6
Not the I'm fine version.
Không phải kiểu "tôi ổn" đâu.
7
The real one.
Cái thật đó.
8
Burnt out, scrolling endlessly.
9
I had a day last week where I stayed in pajamas, opened my notebook, then watched a rom-com TV series for three hours.
10
Oof, relatable.
11
I once told myself, I'll speak English out loud today.
12
Fast forward six hours, I was talking to my plant, in complete silence.
13
At least your plant felt seen.
14
Thanks.
15
His name's Steve.
16
He's doing better than me.
17
But seriously, I think we all have those days.
18
When we want to grow, want to improve, but something inside says, not yet, I'm not ready.
19
And we wait, and wait, hoping one day we'll feel ready,
20
more confident, more prepared, less chicken.
21
Hmm, I'm stealing Gwen's deep thoughts for a sec.
22
What if being ready isn't a feeling, but a decision?
23
Oh yeah, that's the heart of this episode.
24
Most English learners, maybe you are listening right now, keep waiting to feel ready.
25
But guess what?
26
You probably won't, not fully.
27
And that's okay, because you can still begin.
Và điều đó cũng không sao cả, bởi vì bạn vẫn có thể bắt đầu.
28
Change doesn't wait for confidence.
29
It begins when you act, even if your hands are shaky and your voice cracks on hello.
30
That was me in every speaking class.
31
Shaky hands, wobbly voice, but at least I tried.
32
So today, let's quit our comfort zone.
33
Not with big scary leaps, but with small brave steps.
34
And hey, to make it even easier, we've got a free little gift for you at the end.
35
A PDF with many actions to help you break free.
36
Let's begin.
37
Whether you're still in bed or walking to class, this one's for you.
38
Okay, Leo, one question.
39
Have you ever waited for the perfect moment to do something brave?
40
You mean like opening an English app after ghosting it for six months?
41
Uh huh.
42
Or staring at a study plan for 20 minutes and deciding it's just not the right time?
43
Ah yes, the good old, I'll do it when I feel ready, lie.
44
I told myself that lie for years.
45
Same.
46
I used to believe that one day I'd just wake up and feel brave, like I'd suddenly speak English like Adele.
47
But instead I woke up and said, maybe tomorrow.
48
Every.
49
Single.
50
Day.
51
I kept waiting for the feeling to come.
52
Confidence.
53
Courage.
54
Anything.
55
It never came.
56
Yeah.
57
Staying in your comfort zone feels easier until it doesn't.
58
But then, one night, I kid you not, I sat up in bed and said, Good morning, Leo.
59
Out loud. In English. At midnight. At midnight?
60
Don't judge me.
61
I wasn't that confident.
62
I was just done waiting.
63
That's when things shift, right?
64
Not when you feel capable.
65
But when you choose to act like you are.
66
even if your voice is shaking.
67
Oh, and it was shaking.
68
I sounded like someone doing English karaoke without lyrics, just vibes.
69
Please tell me you kept going.
70
I did.
71
One sentence before bed, every night, sometimes I'd just write, Today I was tired, in English.
72
And over time, those little clumsy moments stacked up like bricks.
73
Not magic.
74
Just math, eh?
75
Math?
76
Nobody said there'd be numbers, Gwen.
77
I mean, repetition.
78
Like reps at the gym.
79
Every little sentence builds fluency.
80
Oh good.
81
For a second, I thought you were going to hit me with grammar equations.
82
No, just one decision, one sentence.
83
Ready or not, you choose to speak.
84
Voice shaking and all.
85
That's the trick, huh?
86
You feel scared, but you start anyway.
87
Then your English sounds a little messy.
88
You're not a mess, Leo.
89
You're just learning.
90
And that's okay.
91
The only way to stop waiting is to start doing.
92
You know what's wild?
93
The more I do, the less scary it feels.
94
Like, 1% less every time.
95
Exactly.
96
It's never about giant leaps.
97
It's the small steps that actually move you forward.
98
But, real question, why do we always think we need a perfect plan first?
99
Because planning feels productive, but doesn't risk failure.
100
It's a comfy disguise.
101
Oof, drag me gently Gwen.
102
I only roast with love.
103
But honestly, big dreams don't mean much without small moves.
104
Fair.
105
I once made a study plan, printed it, highlighted it, even slapped a quote on top.
106
Did you use it?
107
Once, then poof!
108
Figures.
109
But when you made progress, it wasn't because of that, right?
110
Uh, no, it was tiny stuff, like saying one sentence out loud, or recording myself reading a meme alone, like a weirdo.
111
That's what cracks the fear open.
112
A tiny break.
113
And through that crack, light starts to come in.
114
That's where change begins.
115
Ooh, so you're telling me my cringey meme reading habit was emotional growth?
116
Yes.
117
Growth with a side of cringe.
118
Still counts.
119
Man, I thought I needed a five-year plan.
120
Turns out, just pressing record and saying, this cat is wearing sunglasses, was enough.
121
You don't need perfect grammar.
122
Or a script.
123
Just a messy, honest start.
124
Who knew meme reading and plant whispering meant I was already ahead of 90% of those still waiting?
125
Because small actions beat big intentions.
126
Thinking doesn't change you.
127
Doing does.
128
First, put that on a t-shirt and take my money.
129
Second, whoa, why you gotta hit my soul like that?
130
Well, someone needs to hear it.
131
Okay Poetic Queen, you win today.
132
Thank you.
133
I charge by the metaphor.
134
You should start a shop.
135
Get your daily dose of truth, tears, and healing vibes.
136
Buy one, cry two.
137
And no refunds.
138
Speaking of truth, wanna know the biggest lie we tell ourselves?
139
Ooh, is it?
140
One day I'll start.
141
Ah, one day I'll start.
142
One day I'll speak.
143
One day I'll feel confident.
144
Right on the spot.
145
How come one day always sounds so peaceful and yet feels like a scam?
146
It is a scam.
147
One day just sounds responsible.
148
But it's fear in a costume.
149
Ugh, one day be dressing like a productivity queen, but she's secretly a time thief.
150
Yeah, and the truth is, the most ready you'll ever be is now.
151
Waiting feels smart.
152
But how long have you been waiting?
153
A month?
154
A year?
155
Sometimes we're not waiting to be ready.
156
We're just avoiding discomfort.
157
Why is that so accurate?
158
I used to say, I'll practice English when I have more time.
159
And then, somehow you had time for two hours of personality quiz titled, What Kind of Dragon Are You?
160
I was a night fury, okay?
161
But yeah, truth is, the most ready I'll ever be is now.
162
Bingo.
163
Not after you finish a course.
164
Not after New Year's.
165
Right.
166
Freaking.
167
Now.
168
But some of us are still thinking, but I don't believe I can do it. So...
169
My, my terrifying thought.
170
Oh no. What now, wise Gwen?
171
Well, I have a secret to tell.
172
Spill it.
173
We don't need to feel ready to begin.
174
We need to start first, and belief will follow.
175
So, action first, then confidence?
176
Always.
177
Courage isn't waiting to be brave.
178
It's acting while you're scared.
179
Okay, the trick is, start ugly, start scared, just start?
180
Yes.
181
And since starting is the hardest part, I made a tiny gift for the people who are done waiting.
182
Oh, how sweet.
183
What is it?
184
A motivational speech?
185
A coupon?
186
Better.
187
It's a brain hack.
188
Backed by science, thank you very much.
189
18 days.
190
Do something consistently, and your brain starts turning it into a habit.
191
Not perfect, but familiar.
192
Wait, that's what I did with Steve the plant.
193
You really loved that plant, huh?
194
Hey, we were bonding.
195
Anyway, I called it my English Out Loud Challenge.
196
Five minutes a day.
197
No grammar, no judging.
198
Just talk.
199
How'd it go?
200
First few days were weird.
201
I felt like I was talking to ghosts.
202
But around day 10, it started to feel kind of normal.
203
Ooh, and by day 18?
204
I felt weirdly proud.
205
I wasn't fluent yet, but I trusted myself more.
206
I kept my streak alive.
207
I didn't break something.
208
I built it, Gwen.
209
That's the secret no one talks about.
210
It's not about big results at first, it's about tiny promises kept.
211
That's how you start to trust yourself.
212
And with every day, I felt a little steadier.
213
Not louder.
214
Not smarter.
215
Just more me.
216
Gosh.
217
Look at you, Leo.
218
From ghosting English apps to becoming a proud plant whisperer.
219
That almost sounded like a compliment.
220
Thank you.
221
Well, that's how you break out of your comfort zone.
222
Not with magic, just with motion.
223
Honestly, if I can do it, anyone can.
224
I started by talking to a plant named Steve.
225
So if you're listening now, try one tiny action every day for 18 days.
226
Still waiting for the right moment?
227
Surprise, it's now.
228
And if you need a sign, this is it.
229
Challenge yourself.
230
Start with a small step.
231
Just start.
232
Hey, if I make it to day 100, you buying me fried chicken, big bucket?
233
Hmm, best I can do is a handwritten note.
234
You're cooler than your plant.
235
With one chicken nugget?
236
For emotional support?
237
Okay, two nuggets.
238
But only because you tried.
239
Trying still counts though, that's the whole point.
240
We're all trying in our own weird ways.
241
And maybe the first step out of the comfort zone is just learning to be a little kinder to ourselves.
242
So, let's take that step by using the 8 powerful words we shared today.
243
Time to stretch your arms, sip some water, and breathe.
244
Hmm self-love moment unlocked.
245
Also, I just cracked my back and now I speak 5% more fluent.
246
First up, ready.
247
To be ready means to be prepared to do something.
248
For example, I didn't feel ready to speak English, but I still did it.
249
Word number two, capable.
250
Capable means you have the ability or skill to do something.
251
You are capable of learning English even on days you doubt yourself.
252
Next, courage.
253
Courage means doing something even though it scares you.
254
Like, she showed courage by speaking in front of the class.
255
Or like me whispering to my plant totally counts.
256
Word number four, fear.
257
Fear means the feeling of being scared or anxious about something.
258
Example, he felt fear before his speaking test but did it anyway.
259
Okay, word number five, decision.
260
A decision is the act of choosing something after thinking about it.
261
I love that one, like I made the decision to stop waiting and start learning.
262
Continue with belief.
263
Belief means accepting something is true or possible, especially about yourself.
264
For example, she didn't have belief in the beginning, but it grew with every step.
265
Seventh, action.
266
Action means doing something, not just thinking.
267
Like, taking action every day helped you improve your English.
268
And last one, brave.
269
To be brave means to do something difficult or scary without running away.
270
Hey, like I was brave enough to start, even while scared.
271
Wow, 8 words.
272
I feel like we just summoned a self-growth superhero squad.
273
You are the hero.
274
You've got the words, the story, and the challenge.
275
But words are just the beginning.
276
The real growth?
277
That happens when you use them.
278
So here's your challenge.
279
Pick 3 or 5 of those words and write a full sentence using them in the comments.
280
We'll be reading them, pinky promise.
281
Because even one small sentence is a big win.
282
Hey, before we end, can I just say something real quick?
283
We're really proud of you.
284
You showed up, you stayed with us, you listened, laughed, maybe felt a little seen. That matters.
285
Sometimes we forget how brave it is just to try, to sit with a language that's not yet your own, and still keep going.
286
You didn't just learn today, you proved something to yourself.
287
And we're right here with you.
288
Still figuring it out?
289
Still falling forward? So, let's keep going.
290
Together.
291
One small shaky step at a time, out of your comfort zone and into who you're becoming.
292
Remember, say a sentence out loud, read a short English story, replay your favorite part of this episode.
293
Whether you've been listening since episode one or this is your first, thank you for being here.
294
We'll see you in the next episode.
295
Same chaos, same growth, same awkward me.
296
Until then, keep going one tiny, imperfect, powerful step at a time.
297
We're really glad you spent time with us today.
298
Your time matters and so do you.
299
This is Podcast and Chill and bye friends, go do the thing.
300
You got this.
301
you
