1
Consistency doesn't guarantee that you will be successful.
2
But not being consistent will guarantee that you won't reach success.
3
We are what we repeatedly do.
4
Excellence.
5
That is not an act, but a habit.
6
Success is something you attract.
7
Success is not something you pursue.
8
It is something you attract by becoming attractive.
9
Jim Rohn once said, successful people don't do extraordinary things.
10
They do ordinary things extraordinarily well.
11
you want and do so much volume that it would be unreasonable that you would be unsuccessful.
12
Bruce Lee once said, "Long -term consistency trumps short -term intensity."
13
You can try to be lucky and pick the one perfect thing and try and make it, but if you don't want to try and be lucky,
14
you can just do so much f*ing work that you will brute force your way to figuring it out.
15
No one cheers you for not drinking for a day, not smoking on a long drive, or not overeating for one night.
16
No single workout or meal is ever impressive on its own.
17
The reason so few people understand success is consistency never looks impressive in the moment, only at the end.
18
Sometimes you don't want to go to the gym, of course no. But I go because I have a compromise with myself.
19
But I'm not so happy every day.
20
or with my wife or with my kids.
21
Sometimes I'm not.
22
Here's an easy productivity hack.
23
Instead of spending time getting in the mood to work, just start working.
24
Confront the work.
25
People think they need perfect conditions to start, when in reality, starting is the perfect condition.
26
If you quit, it's really easy to predict your future.
27
You can't quantify it.
28
People are gonna call you crazy.
29
Your friends are gonna look at you sideways.
30
You'll have the opportunity to play in the game and stop sitting on the sidelines.
31
And you might fail for a while.
32
And you might have to pay your success tax.
33
And you might have to go through seven failures, nine failures, twelve failures.
34
You might be sleepless at night wondering why the heck you're doing it.
35
Understand that every choice you make ignites the compound effect, either in the positive or negative.
36
If you go to the gym and you work out and you come back and you look in the mirror, you will see nothing.
37
And if you go to the gym the next day and you come back and you look in the mirror, you will see nothing.
38
So clearly there's no results, it can't be measured, it must not be effective.
39
So we quit.
40
Or if you fundamentally believe that this is the right course of action and stick with it, you commit yourself to the regime, the exercise.
41
be sure which day, but I know you will start getting into shape.
42
Like the consistency of work.
43
Monday, get better.
44
Tuesday, get better.
45
Wednesday, get better.
46
Do you know what the secret of life is?
47
No, what?
48
It's one thing.
49
Just one thing.
50
You stick to that and everything else don't mean shit.
51
What's the one thing?
52
Curly said, it all comes down to one thing.
53
Your whole life comes down to one thing.
54
What's the one thing?
55
It all comes down to choices.
56
To get anything of value, you have to sacrifice.
57
It's just too hard.
58
Do you know that the harder thing to do and the right thing to do are usually the same thing?
59
Nothing that has meaning is easy.
60
right now, right now.
61
Your whole life is nothing but the accumulated compound effect of the choices you've made up to this moment.
62
Just have patience.
63
Even though you don't see the results in the moment, you have to know that the compound effect has been ignited.
64
And every choice you make ignites it and fuels it.
65
And it will stretch itself out over 10, 15, 20 years before it results to you.
66
If you hit an oak tree 1 ,000 times in 1 ,000 different spots, what's going to happen?
67
Absolutely nothing.
68
But if you hit an oak tree 1 ,000 times in the exact same spot, you know what's going to happen?
69
You're going to bring it down.
70
You're going to do the impossible.
71
Motivation is only getting you so far.
72
Sometimes it's usually it's far enough.
73
Sometimes it's not.
74
Lazy people don't know how to start.
75
Weak people don't know how to finish.
76
Successful people don't know how to stop.
77
People demand success but refuse to work weekends.
78
People want opportunity but won't talk to strangers.
79
People claim ambition but sleep in every day.
80
We are the results of our actions, not our aspirations.
81
No one can ever even, they don't understand it.
82
They don't understand, but everybody has the ability to do it, but they just don't want to.
83
They want to keep asking questions and keep going to seminars.
84
And the greatness is right in you.
85
And that's why, once again, I'll say this a million times here, I do not feel sorry for you.
86
Remember this, the late gratification in the extreme just results in no gratification.
87
It's not happening in the future.
88
It's happening right here, right now.
89
All I know is this: I want them to say that that mother f*er never quit.
90
He never quit.
91
No matter the odds, no matter the circumstances, no matter the situation, no matter who was against him or who was with him,
92
that mother f*er shows up! to belong.
93
Most of your competition quits after the first set of difficulty because they've never known what hard feels like.
94
If it's hard for you, it's hard for everyone.
95
And most people avoid hard things, which is why you can beat most people by just trying.
96
already at 25 in four weeks time you will have the
97
100 how much real energy real effort real discipline have you
98
put into your daily life in order to get to those 100 pushups
99
and this is the whole idea about what is it skill
100
you don't get skill as a present in this lifetime you
101
might get a talent you might have a gift coming to this world Maybe from your parents,
102
maybe from another source, you are gifted with something.
103
But if you don't cultivate that gift on a regular basis, even that gift will just dissolve.
104
If you are naturally tired at night and excited in the morning, then you probably haven't found something meaningful to work on.
105
You are not stressed from doing too much.
106
You are stressed from doing too little of what you care about.
107
You want to gain a sense of discipline, self -discipline.
108
things, if people tell you to work, if they force you to do this A, B, and C, it has to come from within.
109
You have to have initiative, you have to be motivated to do things.
110
And what I've learned over the course of writing my seven books, and through the course of my whole life, is that you master yourself through learning,
111
through learning something that you love that interests you.
112
That's how you develop discipline.
113
So if you're studying things, if you're entering a career that doesn't for you to master yourself.
114
It's going to be very hard to gain that discipline.
115
You're going to be tuning out, you're going to be distracted, you're going to be on your phone too much, you're not going to be focusing deeply, which is how you master yourself.
116
To me the key to life, the key to everything, the key to success is figuring out what you love.
117
I call it your life's task, what you were born to create in this world.
118
One of the most powerful forces in life is consistency,
119
That's how you start big movement.
120
That's how you get big results.
121
That's how you build a body.
122
That's how you build a business.
123
It's consistency.
124
It's small wins every single day.
125
Because this has been a perspective that has served me so well in my life.
126
Because the goals that I have now take many years to come to fruition.
127
Like I'm working on a goal that in the next probably 18 months I will have been working on for 13 years.
128
And it will probably come due.
129
And the crazy thing is that the bigger your goal, the bigger your timeline has to be.
130
easier it is.
131
If I said you just have to learn French
132
and you don't speak French and you have to do it by tomorrow, it's impossible.
133
You're not going to do it.
134
There's no way that you're going to be able to do it.
135
But if I said you have to learn in a decade, you're like, oh, I could easily do it.
136
You could probably learn 10 languages in a decade.
137
And so all of a sudden the goals
138
that you have can be significantly more achievable and you can feel like you're consistently making progress by moving out your timeline.
139
But because people are so short term minded, because they can't just stop scrolling over and over again, they make it harder for them to achieve their goals
140
because the only goals that they deem acceptable are ones that are on an unrealistic timeline.
141
And so they doom themselves from the beginning.
142
You just have to show up on an everyday basis and give what you can.
143
That's the definition of consistency.
144
You don't have to give 100%.
145
You've got to give what you've got.
146
That's what it's all about.
147
People think that discipline is when you want to do a thing or feel like you're going to do a thing.
148
But doing the thing in spite of not wanting to do the thing is discipline.
149
That is what discipline is.
150
Yeah.
151
If you want to do the thing, it doesn't take any discipline to do it.
152
Did it take discipline to eat the cheesecake?
153
No. It took discipline to not eat the cheesecake
154
because you have to force yourself to do the thing that you do not want to do.
155
You're not going to see the results.
156
You do something in a week.
157
You're not going to see the results.
158
You do something over six months.
159
Well, the compound effect of time, that day in and day out work that you have to put in, is going to give you that success.
160
You need to look at that with everything you do.
161
It's the compound effect of time that will slowly build your system.
162
Because you cannot reach to have a strong body if there is not the fuel behind it that gave you the push,
163
the motivation to do so in order that you finally develop in that direction.
164
A lot of you say you want to win, but what does your day to day look like?
165
What do your habits look like?
166
What does your discipline look like?
167
You go into the gym every day.
168
Are you getting up early?
169
What does your environment look like?
170
What does your circle look like?
171
Are you reading books day to day?
172
Developing your mind?
173
Are you praying?
174
All of this stuff matters.
175
I'm sure that's the line that keeps coming up in this motivational video.
176
You got a life round of that?
177
Yeah, I'm having days out of it.
178
But no, it's true.
179
And they're some of the things that were sort of resonating with me.
180
In times where, like you say, you get to a place in your career that you're successful.
181
You know?
182
Sleep starts to feel a bit more comfortable.
183
You know?
184
The cheesecake starts to look a bit more interesting.
185
And you really gotta start to figure out what it is
186
you're trying to do with the time you've got on the planet.
187
You've probably heard me talk about element before, come on.
188
Frankly that's because I'm dependent on it and...
189
To get anything of value you have to sacrifice.
190
Do you know that the harder thing to do and the right thing to do are usually the same thing?
191
Nothing that has meaning is easy.
192
Easy doesn't enter into grown -up life.
193
people who are on that path have to make.
194
This is the lead indicator of what will be the lag indicator that I want.
195
People get frustrated not achieving what they want because they assume that they're going to jump across a cavern in one leap.
196
But if you picture your goals, like you're trying to build a bridge across that crevice,
197
and every brick that you put on that bridge is progress.
198
And each one of those bricks represents a skill that you need to learn along the way.
199
It just takes all the way until you get to the other side that you can actually walk across.
200
internal perceived achievement.
201
But if you can reframe your progress as what are the hundred things on this checklist?
202
What are the hundred skills that I need?
203
The micro skills that I need?
204
Then you can have much faster feedback cycles of wins that you're achieving along the way.
205
And I think if you can define it that way, then you can feel like you are winning A more often, but B with higher intensity because as you win,
206
skills stack on top of each other.
207
You have to obsess over it to a point where most would say you've lost your mind.
208
Because the truth is to be the best you don't have to be special.
209
You just have to do the things.
210
Nobody is willing to sacrifice for it.
211
is building his confidence, you know, because confidence breeds success and success breeds confidence.
212
So I'm just trying to build his confidence up
213
and let him know that he can do what I say he can do.
214
It's all about the belief that he can do it.
215
Belief is more powerful than anything.
216
So I'm working on his belief system as well. that borders on madness.
217
When they're sleeping, you're working.
218
When they're complaining, you're adapting.
219
When they're celebrating small victories, you're already focused on the next mountain.
220
When they quit because it hurts too much, you push through the pain,
221
because the alternative, giving up on what matters most to you, hurts even more.
222
This This isn't about luck.
223
This is about hunger.
224
A hunger so deep, so primal, that it can consume you.
225
It's about wanting something so badly that you're willing to sacrifice what others won't,
226
endure what others can't, and attempt what others don't dare.
227
But that's the test, isn't it?
228
If those obstacles right before you are enough to stop you, if the sacrifice seems too great, then you didn't want it enough.
229
Someone else wanted it more.
230
Someone else was willing to bleed more, to risk more, to give more of themselves to the pursuit.
231
Ask yourself: what are you willing to give up?
232
What comfort can you sacrifice?
233
What pain can you endure?
234
People struggle a lot with the concept that something can be both painful and empowering.
235
It's this hurts, therefore it's bad.
236
When taking full accountability of your life with all of the deficiencies
237
that you have may be the most painful thing that you do
238
when you look at yourself in the mirror and say this is my fault.
239
But in saying this is my fault, those are also the first two steps of progress.
240
Because it's my fault, not anyone else's, which means it's my responsibility in my action that can change that.
