Dr. Stacy Sims: The Exercise Your Brain Needs Before Perimenopause - 通过视频学习英语口语

1
So what would be your prescription for like a 35 year old female when it comes to exercise?
2
If their their main goal now is to look at brain health like you're talking about?
3
Yeah.
4
So, I mean, if we look at that, then we know we have to produce lactate.
5
So we do some high intensity work because lactate becomes a preferred fuel for the brain.
6
And when we start getting into our late 40s, we start having changes in brain metabolism because of perimenopause.
7
So if we're able to produce lactate and the brain learns to use it, then it helps attenuate any kind of metabolic change in the brain.
8
And then also strength training.
9
Initially starting any strength training is good, but then definitely having some periodization into heavier loads and supply of metrics.
10
So if we're looking for brain health, that's from a physical standpoint.
11
And then when you're talking about nutrition, of course, we're looking at omega-3s and creatine to help.
12
So those would be like the big four, intensity, strength training, paying attention to what kind of strength, not resistance training, but strength training.
13
And then we have our omega-3s and our creatine.
14
So we'll definitely talk about creatine here in a moment because I know that's something you're also very excited about.
15
I see the momentous gear, which I know that they're, they make a high quality creatine.
16
And I know that, and so based on what you just said with strength training,
17
do, I guess it's also important for women to challenge themselves
18
because eventually they're going to reach a point where they plateau
19
and they probably won't get the same benefit for their brain, correct?
20
Right.
21
Well, that's something we don't know.
22
So that's part of it.
23
It's like, what is the plateau and how do we change it?
24
But just like any other kind of plateau, if you're trying to build strength and hypertrophy, you do have to change it up.
25
You can't keep doing the same thing over and over.
26
We see the consistency and a true periodized program.
27
So if we have someone who's already resistance trained, like an Olympic lifter, and she's in her thirties, like she's already lifting heavy.
28
Well, what kinds of things can we do to challenge the brain and the pattering to create that neural connection?
29
We don't know.
30
And that's part of what the research is going to hopefully infer and, and lead us down a path to figure out.
