Welcome to Jimmy English Home, a channel that helps you learn lots of interesting and useful vocabulary.
2
Hi guys, Jimmy is here and today I'm gonna talk about wild animals,
3
which is a topic that a lot of my students have encountered in the I.O speaking test recently.
4
And without further ado, let's dive into it.
5
Okay, the first question.
6
Have you ever seen any wild animals before?
7
Yes, I have.
8
When I was a little girl, my parents often took me to the National Zoo,
9
where I could see a lot of wild animals like giraffe, bears or tigers.
10
I was told that unlike my two brothers who were so scared of these creatures,
11
I showed great excitement for all of them and assisted on feeding and touching them.
12
And Jiu, have you ever seen any wild animals?
13
Yeah, luckily I have.
14
When I was a child, maybe around 8 years old, my parents brought me to the zoo
15
and I got a chance to see a lot of wild animals that I've never seen before, like tigers, lions, or peacocks.
16
They all looked very cool to me.
17
Okay the second question, what wild animal do you like most?
18
Well the first species that pops into my mind is elephants.
19
You know I was born and raised in the central Harlem in Vietnam where elephants have become a symbol for many generations.
20
My grandma once told me that
21
some minority groups in our area even kept an elephant in their home as a means of transportation.
22
How about you?
23
Well, I love you know a lot of wild animals but I would say woops are my favorite.
24
I know that some people may consider whoops as cruel and bloodthirsty beasts,
25
but for me, they are really adorable and mysterious.
26
More importantly, they are extremely loyal to their past, which is a trade that I highly value.
27
Okay, the third question.
28
Do you like to go to the zoo?
29
To be honest, visiting the zoo used to be one of my favorite parts when I was younger.
30
However, as an adult, I've become more aware of the real nature of such places.
31
Most of them are not established for the sake of these animals, but the commercial values.
32
I would prefer letting them thrive in their own environment.
33
Wow, that sounds really nice.
34
What do you think?
35
Well, I used to enjoy it a lot, especially when I was little.
36
For me back then the zoo was a fun
37
and interesting place where I could learn a lot about the animal world and all that.
38
Now however, I'm more into going to a safari park.
39
That's a place where animals can still be in the wild and move freely but receive more protection.
40
The last question.
41
Have you ever kept a pet?
42
To be honest, I had a pet dog named Papi a few years ago.
43
I started raising her when she was only one month old.
44
During our time together, we traveled to different places and shared our memories together.
45
Unfortunately, she was stolen after her first birthday.
46
And since then I've decided not to have any pets with me anymore.
47
Same here, I can totally feel you.
48
And I believe that all pet owners have to experience that feeling at least once in their lives.
49
I gotta tell you that this question also reminds me of a beautiful yet depressing memory
50
that I once had with my pet dog named Miu.
51
He was extremely cute.
52
He was like a best friend of mine.
53
I remember every day after school, I would spend time playing with him.
54
Whenever I went out, he would try to walk beside me.
55
But one day, he was sick and started vomiting a lot.
56
And several days later, he died. So sad.
57
Yeah, and that's also the end of this video.
58
Hopefully you've learned a lot of interesting and useful vocabulary for this topic.
59
And until next time, bye bye!
