The era that

The Doors came of age and then following into the mid -70s and like pre -punk even.

I'm sure you've seen some of the documentaries that have come out about that era.

Right.

The Laurel Canyon documentary.

There's been a couple of the David Crosby documentary.

Did they get it right?

How do you feel about those?

They were missing something.

I guess the reason we weren't invited into the Echoes of the Canyon is

because we were the dark underbelly of the 60s.

Maybe we were the undeclared Vietnam War, you know, the shadow side of it all. So, you know.

That's an interesting way to look.

You were the dark side.

Yeah, David Crosby.

The birds were the bright side.

Yeah.

Crosby can call Jim a dork, but I'm the drummer in the dorks.

I think he said that in his documentary.

Because he went into the whiskey and he was a little loaded and he had dark glasses on.

And apparently Jim ripped his glasses off and said, you can't hide here.

So that ruffled his feathers.

Anyways, we're not here to talk about David Crosby.

Not at all.

I just mentioned that because that time in that city is such a fascinating piece of musical history.

I'm from the East, but I was in college and high school during that time.

And so, like so many, a lot of the people, I'm sure, who were in the audience for this concert, it's such a seminal moment.

It was a renaissance period, that's for sure.

What pisses me off is that folks who diss the 60s, you know, has failed.

And really what's going on is that the seeds of civil rights, peace movement, feminism were all planted.

And these are giant seeds.

Maybe they take 100 years for full fruition, so stop criticizing and get out your watering can.
