1
Yo, what's up guys?
2
It's your boy Pan.
3
It's been a minute.
4
Well, it's actually been more than a minute.
5
It's been one year.
6
Damn, that time really flew by.
7
But I'm back and I'm gonna start posting again and I'm here to give you guys an update on everything.
8
Well, I'll try my best because a lot of things happens in one year, especially in my life.
9
But hey, I'm here in the middle of Central Park.
10
A beautiful day and I got my matcha here.
11
Not being performative, nothing like that.
12
Just, you know, it's on some chill shit.
13
I'm gonna talk about what happened with Pear, what I'm doing currently and just some thoughts I have from all the stuff I've learned in the past year.
14
I don't know why I still have my air problems.
15
Hold on.
16
All right.
17
So I want to start this off by saying I am no longer relatable.
18
And that is something I had to come to the realization of because I started off this channel being very relatable.
19
You know, I went to a very mid-tier school.
20
People don't really know about.
21
I was really good at school.
22
I was kind of, you know, not the usual CS student, but I was able to land good jobs and, you know, make money and live in a good city right now.
23
And that's like a story that I always really liked in life as just the underdog story, you know, We're rooting for the person who is not expected to win because of their background,
24
because of where they come from.
25
And, you know, just the fact that they're different from the usual people who do this certain thing, right?
26
Whatever it is.
27
However, I don't think I am the underdog anymore.
28
You know, I grew up raised by a single mom and my big brother and we were broke as fuck.
29
We were living off government subsidy for most of my life and that paid for my school and everything until I graduated.
30
A shout out to the Canadian government.
31
I was also not good at school because I just didn't care.
32
I was just playing League of Legends all day.
33
You know, I barely spoke English because I grew up learning French.
34
I was kind of just doing whatever I wanted.
35
And that's been the story of my life.
36
And it's still me to this day.
37
However, because of everything I've been going through, it has, I guess, set me apart from the norm.
38
I've worked at all these good companies, earned a decent amount of money.
39
I've gained a certain amount of freedom, financial freedom, geographical freedom, and also relationship freedom.
40
Being able to choose who your friends are and who you interact with.
41
And kind of alongside working on my like intellect, like being good at engineering and building businesses and all this stuff.
42
I also worked a lot of my creativity, you know, making videos, artistic side and my social side of being able to make friends and being charismatic, interacting with people.
43
I would say I'm a pretty well-rounded person right now.
44
That doesn't, you know, mean I'm perfect.
45
I feel like there's still a lot of stuff I want to do and improve upon.
46
I don't know if this matters to you guys.
47
It's just like something that was important to me because at the beginning of this channel, a lot of it was, I felt like very relatable to a lot of my audience.
48
But it's just, it's no longer the case.
49
I want you guys to be aware of that.
50
What you expect me to be is probably not who I am anymore.
51
And this kind of has been a thing for me since forever, basically.
52
When I was younger, I always wanted to become a YouTuber or streamer.
53
Back then in middle school, like people would be like, what the hell is, what's a YouTuber?
54
You know, that's not like a real job or whatever.
55
And when I went to become an actor in China for a year People were also like yo, why why would you go to China?
56
Like what are you doing?
57
And then when I came back and did computer science people would say the same shit like oh Why would you leave?
58
You know acting and all this potential to to do computer science
59
And then when I started doing YouTube again with coding content people were also like what is this?
60
This is cringe and when I started getting you know really good trigger warning jobs
61
and I was earning better money people who worked at these
62
places were also like oh why why are you doing social
63
media stuff like just be a software engineer you know
64
so it's like throughout my entire life it's just people trying
65
to kind of like box me in to these certain categories
66
and it was the same thing when i went to california
67
and when i left california
68
and my my really good job at tesla to move to new york people were like why are you quitting
69
so much money why would you quit working at tesla to
70
go to new york to be a youtuber you know people just can't comprehend it
71
because they have never experience a different perspective.
72
And it's the same thing
73
when I quit my really good job at Coinbase in New York and moved to SF to build my own company.
74
People were like, why would you do something like that?
75
Like, why would you give up such a good job for a risk of this and that?
76
And you know, I left Hair, the business I was working to do streaming
77
and this is like an update I haven't told you guys
78
about I've been live streaming for the past five months
79
and people were were like why would you do that right
80
so it's just it's a reoccurring theme of people telling you what you should
81
and should not do and me just doing whatever I want
82
and I think that is probably the most important thing you should get out of life is
83
that you should stick to what you want to do your interests your heart your intuition
84
and try to block out all these all this noise
85
that people are telling you to to to do this and
86
that because really these people they don't know any better than you you know
87
if i had listened to these people i would have never
88
did fear of science to begin with i would have never
89
did youtube i would have never did any of anything i did today
90
and be where i'm at today
91
so i'm explaining to you guys this to sort of let
92
y'all understand how I kind of operate my philosophy on life
93
and what I value
94
because most of my content here on this channel has been about at the beginning it was like skits
95
and school content right like getting internships and jobs
96
and then it kind of turned into more vlog style
97
when I moved to New York and my life in New York
98
and then it turned to like startup stuff
99
when I was working on my startup so my channel is really more of a documentation, all these different things that I do throughout my life.
100
And, you know, some people will say that is I live a very privileged life.
101
I, you know, do what I want and all of this, but you know, it's like a certain way to see it.
102
For me personally, I think my biggest privilege is being born in the U.S and not needing visa to live here.
103
And also having a good family situation, even though it was just my mom and my big brother, but it was very healthy.
104
So my family situation growing up
105
and being born in the u.s is my two biggest privilege
106
everything else i think also maybe you know being six five
107
and handsome but hey
108
that is something everybody can work on you know you can work on becoming better looking now i was chopped
109
when i was younger okay and look at me now i'm still chopped now
110
but what i'm trying to say is you know you can do a lot of different things in life
111
if you just work hard at it and
112
if you're passionate about it interested that's what allows you to put in
113
that hard work to discipline whatever to make whatever you want come true you know
114
if something doesn't work you you can go on to the next thing
115
and you have to not be afraid to fail in front of other people
116
so in regards to pair the company i was working on previously i left pair
117
and it's now just fully in the hands of naeng my previous co-founder there's
118
so many details to that situation and it's kind of hard to reveal all of
119
that it would literally take an entire video of 40 minutes
120
and i feel like it's not that interesting
121
so i'll just give a high level overview i've been trying
122
to think about pinpoint a singular reason as to why i left
123
and it's kind of hard to do that but
124
if i had to pick one it would be
125
because i felt like i couldn't be myself anymore
126
but essentially at the time people were mad
127
because i made a tweet say i quit my 300k a
128
year job people who are envious of like their dream job i'm quitting they're mad
129
and you know people who don't like youtubers influencers they're mad
130
and you know just people who don't understand how early stage investing works they were mad too
131
so you know there's a lot of people reading headlines without context
132
and again that was like really good
133
because our business was going like this a lot of people with all the headlines were purchasing the app
134
and stuff but at some point uh our investors told us to issue an apology
135
because you know it was kind of affecting their branding
136
and i did issue the apology at the time and
137
that kind of just made things die down
138
and it was pretty much over after that so you'd think like okay
139
so then everything's good right but to me actually
140
that was the start of everything that went downhill afterwards
141
and you know looking back i definitely would have done certain things differently said certain things differently
142
but definitely you know the apology i don't think i would have done
143
that and instead i think the right plate is to double down
144
and i think this is a lesson for everybody is
145
if you really truly believe in something you should just double down on it
146
and make it into a reality that is easier than perhaps doing something
147
that seems more reasonable but you're not that sure of or if like somebody else told you to do something, you want to either fail or succeed on your own terms.
148
Because after I apologized, I felt like that stifled my character.
149
You know, like I wasn't sure if I could say stuff anymore.
150
I just felt censored.
151
It was also a tricky situation at the time because we didn't have the money in the bank account yet from, you know, our investors.
152
And so, you know, I kind of felt like I didn't have a choice.
153
But obviously, like you always have a choice.
154
Like I could have just, you know, not taken the money and just doubled down.
155
And low key, I'm going to be honest, I should have done that
156
because you know no amount of money is kind of worth your your self-esteem your self-respect
157
and your character who you are and you know like because
158
if you can't wake up every day and be yourself
159
and be what you think is is is right
160
and it's good then shit what's even the point that's definitely a lesson I learned
161
and I think next time I will not capitulate capitulating for
162
a moment of comfort is not worth sacrifice of character that's a pretty good line right there i just made
163
that up so there was you know other shit
164
that happened uh around that time too i'm not gonna go into the details of everything
165
because i feel like it's not
166
that interesting anymore i think the other thing i want to mention is also i hated san francisco bro
167
that asked one of the worst places to be on earth
168
if you are under the age of 30 and
169
that might seem counterintuitive
170
because you know sf is is known as like really good for tech stuff
171
and i think that may be true
172
if you have no other skill aside from coding
173
but i think in this day
174
and age man like coding even coding itself like the knowledge
175
economy is falling off attention economy is sort of where you
176
want to be today you know it's very easy to code
177
nowadays someone who doesn't code can build software nowadays with ai
178
and you know that's a very real thing that's happening right now
179
and you know ai code editors is becoming essentially mainstream like
180
but even nowadays like i see a lot of people like
181
these big tech software engineers they're not using ai in their workflow
182
and it's it's actually incredible to me most of the best
183
coders i know nowadays they basically like all the code they
184
write nowadays is like 90 is written by ai you just review the code written by ai
185
and you test right and you fix a little small things here
186
and there so if you're a young person now
187
that i just don't recommend going to sf i think you
188
will be stunting your growth on pretty much every other aspect except like you know tech the thing about
189
that is like you can learn so much about tech
190
and coding just online you know in communities online on twitter on youtube all these things
191
so it's not really a reason to be in sf i think
192
if you don't have the resources to be geographically free nowadays you should spend time online
193
and find communities online
194
that can level you up right i'll be honest the people i met in sf were very like not impressive Yes, there's a lot of smart people, but you know, I'm also a smart person myself,
195
but I have all these other qualities aside from being smart.
196
And you know how like your environment sort of affects who you are as a person and who you become?
197
I definitely did not want to become like those people, like, you know, regardless of how many, how much money a certain person would have.
198
If you don't have enough resources to be geographically free, I recommend just finding your communities online.
199
There's also like an air of desperation in SF.
200
And you know, I went to some of these SF parties when I was there.
201
And trust me, when I tell you this, I don't even know how to qualify these parties.
202
It's like bitty parties, but for autistic people.
203
You know, conversating with some of these people, it just felt like everything they said came from a deep-rooted sense of insecurity.
204
And it was just so cringe, it didn't even feel like conversations.
205
You know, I started fearing that, damn, I like shit, if I've stayed here for two years, I've become like this person, I would rather die.
206
And you know, this insecurity or desperation, it manifests in everything in your life, right?
207
You don't want to be someone who appears to be very desperate, right?
208
You can be desperate for money, success status, woman.
209
This type of desperation is like a huge ick you can have as a guy or a girl.
210
And it's very obvious to anybody with slightly above average EQ.
211
Now, there's definitely a way to want success to become better, to improve yourself without this sense of desperation.
212
I would also say these type of people are very dangerous to do business with
213
because they are the first to betray you since they usually lack character.
214
Because of how desperate they are, they are very willing to betray you, to accomplish whatever they want.
215
I think in life you want to approach things from an area of abundance.
216
And that has nothing to do with whether you're broke, whether you are in abundance or not.
217
It's more a matter of character and courage.
218
You can be broke and give homeless people money.
219
You can have not come from much and still be willing to take more risks.
220
You can also be someone who gets a lot of girls, but then still tries to, I don't know, steal your homie's girl.
221
You know, I think especially as a man, generosity and abundance are very attractive traits.
222
You know, you can make a lot of money, but if you are very petty and frugal, it's very unattractive.
223
I actually do very much recommend New York, but it's very expensive to live in.
224
And there is also a lot of distractions.
225
So you just have to be able to focus and find the people that are focusing on the same thing as you.
226
Okay, so before last thing, during the time I was building power, I was also going through a huge breakup.
227
And that really fucked with me.
228
And, you know, that's something I'll get into more in details perhaps in another YouTube video.
229
So hey, subscribe.
230
but you know if you've been in my streams recently you probably already know the situation
231
so at the time i essentially lost my girl i lost pair i started working with my best friend co-founder
232
and i was just really much in a rut you know
233
i was i was not in a good mind space
234
but i felt like i had to do something
235
so i just i got another big tech job you know
236
and as my mind state got better i wanted to dabble into my other interests again
237
and i started streaming i feel like when i was young I always wanted to be a YouTuber and a streamer.
238
I feel like the YouTube thing I did it but the streaming thing I never really gave it a real try.
239
So I've been streaming a lot for the past five months and I've been enjoying it.
240
On my live stream I don't really do any coding stuff it's more entertainment.
241
I feel like
242
that is a huge opportunity right now as well especially with AI is increasing your productivity for you know everyone.
243
There's going to be more and more spare time for people and that time needs to be filled with entertainment.
244
So I definitely think the entertainment industry is going up.
245
And if you're someone who's able to be charismatic, to be funny, to capture the attention of people, then you are going to be very valuable in the incoming years.
246
So that's definitely a skill I've been sharpening.
247
I want to, you know, be more charismatic, more funny.
248
That's kind of counterintuitive, actually.
249
If you want to be more charismatic, you should not say you are trying to be more charismatic.
250
So I'm just going to say this once.
251
Actually cut that shit out.
252
So yeah, I've been enjoying streaming.
253
I'll have a certain timeline for it.
254
We'll see how it goes.
255
Maybe it's going to be something else in the next few months who knows bro who knows i think
256
that is just my life at this point i i've come
257
to accept it i like to dabble in different things i
258
like to be a i like to have a lot of
259
variety i like to be well-rounded as a person uh
260
and i like to go hard and try hard in these different things in life
261
if you look at a lot of the great people in life
262
that have had a lot of success you can see
263
that they dabble in multiple different things and a lot of a lot of the time At the same time, they do all of these things.
264
Some of them fail.
265
Some of them succeed.
266
And that is the point.
267
It's just doing shit.
268
Whatever works, whatever doesn't, doesn't.
269
And, you know, do it on your own terms.
270
So, hey, before the sun fully goes down, I'm about to go chill at Central Park for a little bit.
271
I'm also out of battery, so I'm going to just call it now for this video.
272
Okay, I hope y'all enjoyed this video.
273
Subscribe.
274
I'm going to be posting more on this YouTube channel.
275
Let me know what y'all want to see.
276
I can talk about more stuff.
277
Anybody going to TwitchCon, by the way, I'll be there.
278
Say hello if you see me.
279
Yeah, and shit, I might just go home and play League right now.
280
I hope you guys have been doing well.
281
Let me know in the comments what's been up with y'all.
282
I'm sure you guys are, you know, rich, high net worth individuals by now.
283
Earning a lot of money.
284
Hey, send me some.
285
Give me some subs on Twitch.
286
I'm kidding, bro.
287
But not really.
288
Hey, Perry Eye, 2025.
289
Fryer Pan, 2025.
290
Shout out to Nang, by the way.
291
He's probably the best friend I've ever had.
292
Great guy.
293
And he's pivoting.
294
He's still working on the startup.
295
He's going to find something great.
296
And shit, maybe who knows?
297
Maybe I'll fucking join him.
298
Who the fuck knows?
299
Maybe I'll be homeless tomorrow.
300
I don't know what the fuck I'm doing, bro.
301
Oh, and also, I moved back to New York.
302
And I have a new apartment.
303
So let me know if y'all want me to do an apartment tour.
304
I can do that as the next video.
305
But, uh, peace, boys.
306
Peace.
307
All right, I'm done.
308
My girl's waiting for me, bro.
309
A girl?
310
I'm just kidding, bro.
311
I don't have a girl.
312
I have many.
313
I have many girls.
314
I'm kidding, bro.
315
I'm so good.
316
I'm so good.
