शैडोइंग अभ्यास: What Does A Good NEBOSH Exam Answer Look Like? WATCH THIS! - वीडियो के साथ अंग्रेजी बोलना सीखें

पाठ बनाया जा रहा है...
1
What? does a good Nebosch exam answer look like?
2
If you're watching this video on the Compasa eLearning platform, right down below, you've got a load of tutorials that are going to teach you how to write a good exam answer.
3
And we've got some exam masterclasses as well, which I highly recommend that you watch to see the process in action.
4
But before we get into the detail of that, I thought it would be useful to just show you what a good answer looks like, because here is the standard that I want you to aim towards.
5
I want you to try to produce something that at least looks like this.
6
Here we have a legal exam question, and this is for the UK National General Certificate.
7
But the international students can get an almost identical question referring to different law.
8
So, IGC students, this applies to you too.
9
under Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974.
10
Comment on how these duties may have been breached.
11
10 marks.
12
And then we have a stem which says, "Note, you should support your answer, where applicable, using relevant information from the scenario." Now, the steps that I've outlined,
13
the 12 steps to exam success, I'm going to show you how to answer that.
14
Let's just show you what a good answer would look like.
15
So here it is.
16
Take a good look at that.
17
And I'm going to point out what's good about it.
18
So the first thing that's good about it is that we have 12 different little answers that are made.
19
12. Now, why is that important?
20
Well, it's because it's a 10 mark question.
21
And we should always try to give more answers than there are marks available.
22
Because, say, if our first two or three or four answers are incorrect, giving some more answers gives us a chance to get a better result,
23
maybe even to get full marks.
24
always write more answers than there are marks available.
25
Notice the length of the answers as well.
26
Here we've got About two and a half lines, got two lines, two lines, two and a bit lines.
27
2 .5 lines, 2 .5 in a bit.
28
Two, two.
29
Two in a bit, two, and so on.
30
Yeah.
31
We need to aim to write.
32
about two to three lines per answer that we're giving.
33
So we're going to give a number of separate answers, each one making its own separate points.
34
And we're going to try and write that out and explain it in two to three lines.
35
Just a bit, nebosh are not counting your words.
36
Nebosh are not counting the number of lines that you write.
37
No examiner is going to read your answer, which is correct and a good answer,
38
and then say, No, they've not written it in two and a half lines as specified in the guidance.
39
I will not award this mark.
40
No examiner's saying that.
41
If it's a correct answer, if it's on the marking scheme, if it demonstrates the necessary level of understanding, you'll get that mark and it doesn't really matter
42
if you've written it in one line or 10 lines
43
but this advice
44
that i'm giving you it's just merely advice in my opinion two to three lines means
45
that you have enough room to make your point
46
and explain your point
47
and maybe chuck in an example from the scenario as is
48
requested by this question it says you should support your answer
49
where applicable using relevant information from the scenario it's very difficult to make a point and without at least writing two lines.
50
You might find that you write three lines, four lines, especially if you add in extra examples of things to support your point.
51
And that's okay, you're allowed to do that and I would even encourage you to do that where that is appropriate.
52
Notice also how each paragraph is numbered.
53
We've got one, two, three, because we are using the numbered bullet point function on our Word document here.
54
And again, a NEWASH examiner is not going to deduct marks because you haven't numbered them.
55
You don't have to number them.
56
It's just some advice that I'm giving you, because this helps you keep track of how many points you have made.
57
It just means you don't have to count them.
58
That's all.
59
So you're aiming to do more than 10
60
and it just saves you a bit of time because you don't have to count.
61
That's all.
62
That's what a good answer looks like.
63
And we haven't even gotten into the detail of what it actually says.
64
Just because it looks good doesn't mean it's correct.
65
It could all be wrong still.
66
But me as an examiner, when I look at that, I go, OK, this person has applied some good exam technique.
67
This is going to be very easy to mark.
68
I'll very quickly be able to see if this is correct or not correct.
69
Here we've got some bad technique.
70
Now what's good about it is that it is numbered and we've got a number of separate points being made.
71
But it really does lack any real explanation.
72
It's basically just chucking in just a couple of words and then some very, very brief notes as to what's going on in the scenario there.
73
I think this is not an answer.
74
This is an answer plan.
75
an answer plan basically a list of things the student wants to make it's not a full answer
76
if you study step seven of our 12 steps to exam success you'll you'll see that talks about creating an answer plan.
77
And this looks like an answer plan which has not been written out in full.
78
Hey, sorry to interrupt.
79
If you're regretting your choice of course provider and you'd wish you studied with me instead, there's no problem.
80
You can.
81
Why don't you head over to Google right now and Google Compasa Rescue.
82
Search for that and go to our rescue package.
83
This is available for both international and national general certificate students.
84
Perhaps your course is expired.
85
Perhaps you've failed one of the assessments and you don't know what to do next.
86
Perhaps you're just not happy with the level of teaching or support you're getting from your course provider.
87
In that case, come check out the rescue package and click on "Apply Now".
88
We will offer you a very, very special discount.
89
so that you can get access to our full general certificate course.
90
with all of my tutor support, all of our mock exam support, NG2, IG2 project support, all of our video tutorials,
91
study books, PDF guides, you will get everything that we offer to our own students.
92
And then you will have a chance of joining us with
93
some of the highest pass rates in the Nibosh e -learning industry.
94
Let's get back to the advice.
95
Let's look at another bad example.
96
Here it is.
97
Look at that.
98
Now what's bad about that?
99
Well, we can see that it's very short, can't we?
100
Look, it's just very, very short.
101
It's 56 words in total, you can see 56 words.
102
Whereas what was the other one that we wrote here?
103
If we just scroll up, what's the word count?
104
And again, the word count doesn't matter.
105
No examiner's counting your words to decide if they give you a mark or not.
106
That's not how it works.
107
But it's about the level of detail.
108
This one was 360 words.
109
360, it's about 30 words per point made.
110
And so this just doesn't really have a lot of effort.
111
We've got some bullet points.
112
Okay.
113
They're not numbered, but notice how there's not a lot being said.
114
Breach of this, breach of that, breach of this.
115
And then we've got this single paragraph, which is not linked to anything.
116
And it's not going into a tremendous amount of detail.
117
It's not linking these breaches to any detail at all.
118
It's just listing the breaches.
119
It's not commenting on the breaches.
120
It's not explaining how these duties may have been breached.
121
That's not good.
122
And let's look at this one.
123
My last example of what a bad answer looks like.
124
This one, like a lot.
125
A lot's been written here.
126
A lot of words have been written there.
127
Let's just look at the word count.
128
Some effort's gone into writing that.
129
160 words the same as before the exact same number of words as our good answer, but notice it's one big thing paragraph.
130
It's an overwhelming paragraph.
131
It's not broken up into any kind of structure.
132
It's difficult to see where one point ends and one point begins.
133
Like, at first you're talking about this duty being breached
134
and then you're changing subjects and you're going to talk about this other thing being breached.
135
And you talk about this issue and that issue.
136
So the examiner will mark this.
137
Now, don't get me wrong, you're not going to lose marks just because it's in a paragraph.
138
No, it's not how it works.
139
The examiner will read all of this and will give you marks where deserved.
140
This could get full marks if this is making enough correct technical points,
141
and it's demonstrating understanding, and it's linked to the scenario, and all of the good exam technique which I'm going to teach you.
142
The problem with this big paragraph technique is that for you, when you're writing your answer, you might just start to just waffle
143
and just start to list all kinds of problems and you may end up going off track.
144
This is just you, essentially just vomiting a load of information.
145
And when I read through the detail here, as I would have to as an examiner, when I read through the detail,
146
What I see is that it doesn't really have much linked to the Health and Safety at Work Act.
147
It's not really answering this question.
148
It's just giving me a long list of problems.
149
There's a little bit of a mention there, fantastic, and there's a little bit of a mention here, but there aren't many mentions of Haswa.
150
It's basically just listing a load of problems issues and that is not answering the question.
151
So I hope you found that useful.
152
Just to recap, what does a good answer look like?
153
A good answer?
154
most of the time.
155
Just bear in mind, some questions may allow you to give shorter answers.
156
Some questions don't require references to the scenario.
157
Some questions may allow you to just give shorter answers.
158
And that's okay, you're not required to give two lines on every single question.
159
Use some common sense.
160
Read the question and answer that question.
161
But let this set a standard for most Nibosh questions.
162
Most Nibosh questions which are going to have something like this, where you have to discuss, you have to explain, you have to comment, you have to make some points,
163
explain some points, using the scenario to back up what you were saying.
164
That's the sort of thing that we're going to have to produce.
165
There we go.
166
Anyway, please go through the exam technique tutorials in depth and learn how to write something like that.
167
And I'll get to see your work when you submit it in your mock exam questions. If...
168
You're a compas of students.
169
Anyway, leave that with you.
170
If you've got any questions, please drop me a line in the comments below.
