1
Love it or hate it, the hybrid workplace is here to stay.
2
The latest surveys show 52% of us want a hybrid model in the workplace, and searches for hybrid work have increased up to 400% in the past two years.
3
Research has shown that not only do we, the employees, benefit from a hybrid workplace due to decreased commute times,
4
better work-life balance, and more decision-making independence, businesses also benefit from lower office costs, reduced employee turnover, and higher productivity levels.
5
In this new normal, companies have started to ask new types of interview questions to determine whether job candidates will succeed in a hybrid working environment.
6
So in this video, I've summarized the top seven hybrid workplace interview questions you will most likely receive this year and beyond.
7
Let's get started.
8
Hi friends, welcome back to the channel.
9
If you're new here, my name is Jeff.
10
Come for the career tips and stay for the pretty pictures.
11
Question number one to prepare for.
12
Do you have previous experience working from home?
13
Have you worked in a hybrid environment before?
14
This might feel like a conversational icebreaker, but the interviewer is actually trying to see how comfortable you are with a hybrid working model.
15
More specifically, whether you'd be a good fit in their current setup.
16
If you do have experience, two things you wanna do here.
17
First, go through how you structure your time right now and explain your reasoning.
18
For example, for better collaboration, you schedule all your meetings on the days you go into the office, but you also have focus days where you work from home.
19
Second, and this is also applicable if you don't have previous experience, Highlight you're willing to adapt to new policies and circumstances.
20
Hybrid work schedules are still evolving for many companies, so you wanna show you have an open and flexible mindset.
21
Final tip for those who don't have previous remote work experience, you wanna emphasize your communication, technology, and time management skills,
22
because those are especially vital in a hybrid work environment.
23
On that note, the second question you'll get asked, how do you manage your time and stay organized?
24
For hybrid and remote work, you have a lot more independence when it comes to managing your time.
25
So here the interviewer wants to know how you juggle and prioritize different tasks.
26
So to answer this question effectively, you want to describe your daily workflow, show how you structure a typical workday,
27
especially at the beginning, and mention specific apps you use to manage your schedule.
28
Don't be afraid to give concrete examples here.
29
At the start of every workday, I go through the task list on my Notion dashboard.
30
Then I use the inbox zero method to clear out my inbox, and finally go through my calendar to make sure I'm prepared for upcoming meetings.
31
Coincidentally, I have videos on all those topics.
32
It's almost as if my channel is the go-to resource for all things career and productivity related.
33
Weird.
34
Anyways, links down below.
35
Third question.
36
What types of distributed team tools and software have you used and how did you use them?
37
Instead of just listing out all the remote tools and collaborative platforms you've ever come across,
38
the trick here is to give an example of how you increase your team's productivity by optimizing an existing process.
39
If you're a regular viewer of this channel, you're probably one of the first to know about the smartest feature in Google Docs.
40
Talk about how by helping the rest of your team adopt this new function, you were able to collectively cut down the number of unnecessary steps in your workflow.
41
Bonus points if you remember to ask a recruiter beforehand the software
42
and tools your target company uses so you can frame your answer with those technologies in mind.
43
At this point, I'm actually wondering what, if any, hybrid workplace interview questions you've received so far.
44
So let me know down below.
45
All right, question number four to prep for.
46
Hey, how will you coordinate and communicate with your coworkers to ensure that work gets done efficiently?
47
This is the big one to get right because when workers are based in different locations, there's very little room for error when it comes to effective communication.
48
So I recommend bringing out the big guns and using the CARL method to give an example.
49
I've made an entire video about this, but CARL is basically star on steroids and stands for context, action, results, and learnings.
50
For this specific question, during the action part of your answer, talk about number one, the importance of asking questions upfront,
51
two, regular check-ins to make sure everyone is on the same page, and three, you're able to manage expectations around timelines.
52
Pro tip, after giving your answer, ask the interviewer what they're doing right now to better facilitate communication within their team.
53
This showcases your critical thinking skills, demonstrates your enthusiasm, and helps maintain that two-way dialogue.
54
Hybrid workplace interview question number five, how do you deal with uncertainty?
55
Or alternatively, tell me about a time when you had to adapt to change.
56
This question has become much more common because in a hybrid model, it can be very challenging to keep everyone in sync.
57
And you don't have the benefit of your colleagues being a few steps away so you can deal with this change together.
58
Since this is clearly a behavioral question, you wanna again use the Carl method to structure your answer.
59
Ideally, the example you give should highlight your resilience and ability to find a solution with minimal guidance.
60
Bonus points here if the steps you took are replicable.
61
Put another way, if another unexpected change occurs in your new role, are you able to resolve the issue in a similar fashion?
62
Interview question number six, tell me about a time you injected an element of creativity into your work.
63
At first glance, this doesn't seem to be hybrid or remote work related.
64
But if you think about it, with all the limitations that come with a distributed workforce,
65
we need to come up with new ways to effectively engage our clients and even fellow colleagues.
66
For example, it's relatively easy to host an offsite or all hands that takes place offline since we're all physically getting together.
67
In order to get the same level of energy in a virtual offsite, you gotta get creative.
68
If you watch my Think Outside the Box videos, This should be an easy question for you since you can just bring up how you Slido, Kahoot, Menti and all the other tools I talk about in your presentation and events.
69
So check out that playlist if you haven't already.
70
Pro tip, use Carl since this is another behavioral question and in the results section,
71
you should quantify how your creative solution is objectively better than the alternative.
72
By using Kahoot to quiz the audience and giving prizes to the top three players,
73
we achieved an 89% participation rate and the post-meeting survey showed 95% satisfaction score,
74
which is 23% higher than that of last month's.
75
Question number seven is an interesting one, and it's what self-care strategies do draw on to maintain wellbeing?
76
This is a good question to get, because if you're asked this question or a variation of it,
77
there's a high chance the company you're interviewing with generally cares about their employees' mental health and have corresponding policies in place.
78
Here, you wanna be honest and mention the tactics you use to draw a line between professional and personal lives.
79
It could be something as simple as being truly offline outside of work hours, having a separate space for work activities,
80
or it could be a unique routine you follow before and after work.
81
Of course, even as hybrid work becomes more and more popular, we still won't be able to avoid those normal interview questions.
82
So make sure to check out that playlist next.
83
See you on the next video.
84
In the meantime, have a great one.

  • "I schedule all my meetings on the days I go into the office" (Programmo tutte le riunioni nei giorni in cui vado in ufficio) – mostra organizzazione.
  • "I use the inbox zero method to clear out my inbox" (Uso il metodo inbox zero per svuotare la casella di posta) – dimostra gestione del tempo.
  • "I optimize existing processes to increase productivity" (Ottimizzo processi esistenti per aumentare la produttività) – mette in evidenza problem-solving.
  • "I coordinate with coworkers using the CARL method" (Coordino con i colleghi usando il metodo CARL) – indica capacità di comunicazione strutturata.
  • "I have an open and flexible mindset" (Ho una mentalità aperta e flessibile) – è essenziale per adattarsi a modelli in evoluzione.

  2. Domande d'intervista: Per ogni domanda, ascolta la risposta di Jeff, poi ripètila lentamente, concentrandoti su espressioni come "time management skills" o "distributed team tools".
