1
Hello and welcome to Elephant English Podcast.
2
In today's video we're going to be having a conversation with my dad about music.
3
So I'm going to ask him questions and he's going to be answering them.
4
The first question is, what type of music do you like?
5
I like to listen to, well in general, all kinds of music,
6
pop, rock, but I don't like jazz and I don't like heavy metal.
7
And who is your favourite singer or who's your favourite band?
8
I haven't got a favourite singer
9
or band as I listen to a wide range of music and no one particular artist or group appeals to me.
10
But at the moment I'm going through my CD collection
11
and I've been listening to music from the 1970s and 1980s which is my sort of era for music.
12
And can you play a musical instrument?
13
It's something that I've always wanted to be able to do
14
so my answer is no but I would have loved to learn how to play the guitar.
15
Did you used to learn how to play music at school?
16
The only opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument at school was a recorder
17
so i can actually play one single tune on the recorder
18
what song it's called three blind minds okay the next question
19
is what is the most popular type of music in your country
20
so in england well i think at the moment it's mainly uh rap music
21
which appears to be are on the radio a lot these days.
22
I think the charts are full of rap music, aren't they?
23
They have been, yeah, and it's one of the reasons why I tend not to listen, because in my opinion, a lot of it sounds the same.
24
Okay, and have you ever been to a concert or a festival?
25
I've never been to a festival and I've only been to I think two or three concerts.
26
Which concerts have you been to?
27
Well from what I can remember
28
because it's a long time ago I went to see Shawaddy Waddy
29
which is a rock and roll group which must have been in 1976.
30
I've seen the famous group the Drifters
31
and I also went to see the Brotherhood of Man who won Eurovision for Great Britain
32
and that was in 1978 I think.
33
And the final question is, do you prefer to listen to CDs or records?
34
I do have a big CD collection so I do like to listen to CDs.
35
I know there are options now where you can watch videos on YouTube
36
and listen to music on spotify
37
but i still prefer cds why do you prefer cds
38
and not spotify because
39
if you've got a cd you can immediately see what songs are on it
40
and you can play the cd knowing what is coming up
41
which is what i like it's predictable that reinforces my enjoyment of the music.
42
Yeah I think it's all in order and there's no adverts
43
because sometimes when you're listening to music on YouTube
44
or Spotify you type in to listen to a particular singer
45
or band and then an hour later it ends up playing music from a different band and it's quite confusing.
46
Yeah sometimes the music changes after 10 minutes Yeah,
47
it's one of the reasons why I don't like to listen to music on Spotify.
48
So if you have enjoyed today's video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel.
49
Thank you very much and I'll see you in the next one.
