1
What's up, everyone?
2
All right.
3
In today's episode, I'm going to break down my trades from the morning.
4
We had a couple of stocks today that put in some decent moves.
5
One of them was straight off the watch list I uploaded over the weekend.
6
But a couple of others were surprise stocks that came out with news this morning and ended up squeezing up.
7
RDHL was one of them.
8
It's currently up 78% right now, down a bit off its highs.
9
So this stock ended up squeezing up over 225%, as you can see right here.
10
This one green candle has over 10 million shares of volume.
11
So this thing basically was off to the races really fast.
12
The problem when that happens is that sometimes the move is
13
so quick that the only way to trade it would be just to jump in in the middle of it.
14
And while there were a couple little opportunities, and there was a spot I was watching, I ended up not taking it,
15
and it ends up going without me.
16
So here's the deal.
17
RDHL ends up popping up this morning on breaking news.
18
It's a biotech stock, and they have this headline that they've sold divesting something that they've owned for $18 million up front.
19
And the stock immediately starts surging higher.
20
So I'm like, okay, there is a catalyst, goes $1.10, dips down, rips up to $1.40, $1.50.
21
Now, as it came up to $1.50 right here, there was like an 80,000 share seller on the ask.
22
And it got bought up, but I was like, yikes.
23
Someone is excited to sell, whether it's a short seller or someone who's been in for a long time.
24
I don't know, but they were within like 30 seconds of the news coming out and the stock popping up, they were selling.
25
So then it goes up to $1.80.
26
It pulls back, it pops up, does a little pullback right here to $1.90,
27
and then pushes over $2, ends up going to a high of $2.20 and then rejecting back down.
28
And then it starts to show weakness.
29
We had more big sellers that were coming out.
30
And at that point, I was like, I don't think this is gonna work.
31
And someone asked Ross, how is it
32
that a stock with a 5.9 million share float has become so thickly traded so quickly?
33
So here's the deal.
34
If you have a stock that's squeezing up on breaking news and there's tons and tons of buyers, the price will move very quickly.
35
If you have a stock that comes out and it has bad news and there's tons of sellers, the price will move very, very quickly.
36
But in the case of something like RDHL, news comes out, the price squeezes up, there's lots of buyers, and then it kind of stops going higher.
37
Why?
38
Because sellers are coming out.
39
Now sellers are holding it back.
40
And those sellers can come from a couple different places.
41
One, it could be insiders with a company who want to dump the stock.
42
They want to get out.
43
Number two, it could be the company themselves selling shares to raise money, which we'll find out later when we get the filing that they've performed a secondary offering.
44
But in real time, we don't know that that's happening except by interpreting maybe that that's why there's so much selling.
45
Number three of course short selling
46
and naked short selling is uh not you know excluded
47
so both legal short selling and illegal naked short selling these all create more selling pressure
48
and so now you have a stock that's up 150 whatever it is
49
but it's not going higher
50
because sellers are holding it back now buyers are continuing to hold it up
51
because they like the stock they think it has potential to go higher
52
but a certain point those buyers give up they bail out
53
and combined with the increased level of selling already from the from whatever the source is the stock price declines
54
and so rdhl now is on the decline
55
and no one's gonna buy it here now it just looks too weak
56
so short sellers kind of win in this area
57
because now the pattern if there was any bullish pattern earlier it's broken anyone who bought
58
and was holding and hoping it would go to three
59
or four four dollars a share is going to be giving up hope
60
and selling and the stock just ends up fading
61
so rdhl um i didn't take a single trade on i was watching it it went without me
62
and i just said well you know what that's the way
63
it sometimes goes here's another one i didn't take a single
64
trade on weto it's hitting our scan right now as it
65
goes up to 11 a share i didn't get any trades on this one
66
and i don't feel too badly about that because
67
if you look at this chart this is a stock that's been selling off for quite a while.
68
We had some good moves on it back in mid-August.
69
We had this squeeze here from $8 all the way up to $52.
70
And then we had this descent all the way back down to $6.
71
So it pretty much gave back all the gains.
72
Now today, it bounced up right here for one candle from $750 to $850 and then goes back down to $7.
73
And that to me felt like a trap.
74
It popped up a little bit.
75
Some long traders jumped on and then shorts hammered it back down and it flushes.
76
Then at the open, it rips back up here.
77
I'm not really compelled to trade something like that.
78
I feel like it's on the backside of this big move from August 17th.
79
It's a little bounce off the low.
80
What's the total upside potential?
81
I find it to be generally pretty limited in this type of scenario.
82
And so I didn't go for it.
83
And yeah, I don't feel badly for missing that.
84
I don't feel that I missed it.
85
I feel that I chose not to take that trade because the risk and reward just didn't add up.
86
So that was WETO, no trades on that.
87
Then we had Xair.
88
Xair pops up, and this one has FDA breakthrough designation.
89
It squeezes up and comes all the way back down.
90
Full round trip.
91
It's now down 5% on the day in spite of breaking news.
92
Now, again, there's only a couple of things
93
that can explain the company putting out positive news and the stock price being negative.
94
Number one, the company itself selling shares as the news comes out on a high volume day to raise money,
95
which they can then put on their balance sheet and allow them to be better capitalized to continue their research and development.
96
That's number one.
97
Number two is institutions that have owned the stock for a
98
while or participated in previous private placements or secondary offerings own shares
99
and are selling them on the open market on a day the stock pops up.
100
That's possible.
101
Number three, short selling.
102
Number four, insider selling.
103
Now, insiders do have to be a little bit careful.
104
There's lockout periods where insiders are not able to sell right around news because, of course, they know insider information, and so there are restrictions around that.
105
I worry about that more with foreign listed securities, especially Chinese Malaysian stocks that may not have people that follow the rules,
106
but I don't worry about it as much with U.S publicly trade companies and Beyond Air as a U.S company.
107
So for whatever reason, the stock ends up doing this reversal.
108
And you know what's interesting is that the XBI, which is the biotech ETF, is actually having one of its best years in the last decade.
109
I mean, it's having a really good year.
110
The ETF is up in the last 18 months, like over 200%.
111
So biotech is hot right now.
112
Biotech sector across the board.
113
Individual biotech stocks, obviously, are leading the way.
114
Not all of them will.
115
And all the small cap ones, some of them will fail.
116
But this year, we have seen a number of really nice biotech stocks.
117
And so this is something that I'm definitely paying attention to.
118
But I'm also not trying to fight the momentum.
119
If something's not working like XAIR, I'm just leaving it alone.
120
So on this one, it comes out with breaking news.
121
It pops up.
122
I have my hand on the buy button.
123
I'm watching it.
124
I'm watching at 550, but the volume's a little too light right here.
125
See how the volume was building up?
126
But even right there, the volume was still less than half a million shares.
127
So I was like, I'm not sure if I can trust this.
128
As quickly as it pops up, it could drop right back down, right?
129
A big seller comes and just pushes it down.
130
It could be the end of it.
131
And then the chart's broken and I'm in too high.
132
So I wait, I wait, I'm watching it here, comes back to 650 right here.
133
It pushes a little higher.
134
I missed that trade.
135
Again, hand was on the buy button, but I was like, do I really want to buy it at high of day?
136
Volume is still pretty light.
137
I don't.
138
Pulls back.
139
I'm like, it's all right.
140
If it's a really strong setup, a really strong stock, I'll get another setup.
141
And I didn't.
142
And this here, this sort of liquidation, this big flush, interestingly, this stock was on short sale restriction.
143
So that big flush there that we had on the one minute chart was not from shorts hitting the bid.
144
Shorts could not market this stock and, you know, bury it because it was on short sale restriction.
145
So all of that selling either came from long buyers who bought in this area and bailed out here,
146
the company itself selling, institutional investors that have held it for a while selling, or insider selling.
147
It's one of those scenarios, and we're not sure which one.
148
We can only speculate.
149
So XAIR ends up failing.
150
All right, so now I've got a couple failures in a row.
151
We got NCRA.
152
This one popped up earlier.
153
Ends up failing as well.
154
It's rallying up now, but I was not interested in it.
155
And so none of these stocks were really that great.
156
COOT, this is one of the ones on the watch list, Australian from Friday.
157
It was gapping up on Friday.
158
Ended up kind of selling off a bit.
159
But AEHL, this one, I did trade.
160
And this one has this after hours move on Friday to Chinese stock.
161
And basically, I was skeptical about it, but this is the way I approached it.
162
I saw that we had this move on Friday, of course.
163
And then I noticed pre-market that we were kind of basing out in this area.
164
So we had popped up at 4 a.m and sold off, came back to VWAP and rejected, back up and rejected again.
165
Then we come back up here and we break through.
166
And so I ended up jumping in as it squeezes higher right through here.
167
So this is my trade.
168
I only took one trade on it.
169
And I'll hide my video so you can just see those orders.
170
So I was in at 662, 669, and 682 buying as it was squeezing up here for the
171
break of seven it breaks seven hits a high of 709 doesn't hold comes back down
172
and i'm selling it for about 11 cents per share of profit on 9 000 shares 975.63
173
that was not a very exciting trade it ends up selling off comes back up here i don't trade it
174
because now at this point i'm not sure i can really trust it i noticed
175
that we have um you know sort of this uh this is a channel
176
that i was sort of drawing here
177
but uh you know we had this um sort of peak here with topping tail a big topping tail here
178
so i didn't trade it in there i didn't really trust it
179
and you know i sort of felt like maybe i was leaving money on the table
180
but at the end of the day august has been a
181
roller coaster two of my biggest red days of the year a couple big green days
182
and so today finishing the month with a small green day and no trades in the small account, I'll take it.
183
It's the end of August.
184
September begins tomorrow.
185
And so for those of you guys who've been watching over my shoulder
186
and thinking about how you can be more active in the market, I would encourage you to check out our two-week trial.
187
We also have our Labor Day sales running right now, but you're welcome to begin the trial at the very least, two weeks for 20 bucks.
188
And that gives you this week to be in the chat room
189
and see what it's like to use this software right here for charting, scanning, and breaking news what it's like to go through some of my classes, to listen to my market commentary.
190
And if you decide you like it, then by the end of the week, you can join using the Labor Day Sale coupon code.
191
And if it's not a good fit for you, then the two-week trial doesn't auto-renew to anything.
192
It's just two weeks for 20 bucks.
193
You cover your market data and some of your server costs and you get what you get out of it.
194
So I hope you guys check it out.
195
I'll put links in the description for both the Labor Day Sale and the two-week trial.
196
And I'll be back at it first thing tomorrow morning, streaming at 7 a.m.
197
Eastern Standard Time.
198
So I'll see you guys then.
199
But I'll remind you, as always, that trading is risky.
200
My results are not typical.
201
And there's no guarantee you'll find success whether you trade with me or you learn on your own.
202
So please manage your risk, take it slow, and always practice in a simulator before putting real money on the line.
203
With that, I'll see you guys back at it bright and early tomorrow morning.
