1
So, physics.
2
Ah, right.
3
Physics.
4
Physics, physics, physics.
5
You get into all this?
6
We have been talking about doing Crash Course Physics for a long, long, long, long time.
7
You've wanted it, we've wanted to do it, and now, thanks to our friends at PBS Digital Studios, we're doing it.
8
There's just one thing.
9
I'm hosting Crash Course Philosophy, but I do know someone super qualified for the job.
10
Hi.
11
Hi.
12
This is our host for Crash Course Physics, me.
13
I'm gonna go have a corn dog and host philosophy.
14
Take it away, Shinny.
15
I'm Dr. Shinny Somara, a mechanical engineer and fluid dynamicist by qualification.
16
For the last few years, I've been hosting science and tech shows on TV like Techno, Tomorrow's Food, and The Health Show.
17
Want to know more about me?
18
There are links in the doobly-doo.
19
So, let's talk physics!
20
I love physics, and chances are you do too, even if you don't know it yet.
21
So I'm really excited to host this series of Crash Course.
22
In this series, we'll be covering AP Physics 1 and 2 mostly, but we'll also have a little time for other things along the way.
23
Everything you do, build or say, will be governed by physics, so wouldn't it be nice to read the rulebook?
24
A rulebook that will help you through life.
25
Physics is elegant.
26
It's also practical and fun.
27
Understanding time, position, velocity and acceleration and how they all work together can help you understand your place in the universe.
28
Literally.
29
And I'm sure you've heard of Newton's laws, like his first law.
30
An object in motion will remain in motion.
31
an object at rest will remain at rest, unless acted upon by a force.
32
But what does that mean?
33
And what does it have to do with acceleration?
34
And what are vectors?
35
Scalars?
36
And what does this mean?
37
Kinetic friction and static friction?
38
What's the difference?
39
We'll explain all of that, but what's more special is getting to figure out why understanding these things is so valuable.
40
Understanding how the world, the universe, works gives us a richer and more immersive experience in life.
41
it gives us the opportunity to see the beauty in nature in vast and unexpected ways.
42
Now, a lot of people think physics is hard, but it's easy.
43
Well, as easy as we can make it.
44
So join me, Dr. Shinise O'Mara, this year on Crash Course Physics, which was produced in association with our good friends at PBS Digital Studios.

About This Lesson

You're practicing English with "Crash Course Physics Preview" using the Shadowing technique — a method originally developed for professional interpreter training.

Focus on sounding like the speaker — not just repeating words. With 15–30 minutes of daily practice, you'll build real-world speaking confidence.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
