Criando lição...
1
Hey, one of the biggest challenges that English learners face is not knowing how to study English,
2
not having a proper routine that will take them from the intermediate level to the advanced level,
3
not knowing how to actually study English consistently and enjoy the process.
4
Have you ever experienced this challenge?
5
Are you experiencing this challenge right now?
6
Well, my friend, I have good news for you because in today's lesson, I am going to give you a morning routine
7
that you can follow and it will help you speak English fluently as you follow the routine.
8
Are you ready?
9
Well then I'm teacher Tiffany.
10
Let's jump right in.
11
Part number one.
12
The very first thing you need to do is write a five minute writing session.
13
Now let me explain what this writing session is all about.
14
You see, the first part is to write in your journal for five minutes.
15
You should write about something you plan to do today.
16
That's right, today's schedule.
17
This is an important step, why?
18
Because you are warming up your brain to start operating in English.
19
In other words, you are activating the English side of your brain in a relaxed way.
20
Think about it.
21
When you wake up in the morning, the very first thoughts you have normally are in your mother tongue.
22
Maybe it's Spanish or Portuguese or Zulu or another language.
23
But now we have to switch this to English.
24
And you do this by first starting with a five minute writing session.
25
Notice that I said five minutes, not 20 minutes, not 30 minutes.
26
No, a short period of time, only five minutes.
27
And it must be about your day.
28
What are you planning to do?
29
Because you already have an idea.
30
Maybe you're going to work or maybe you have to go to school
31
or maybe you have to take care of your children.
32
It's time to write about that in English.
33
So for step one, here is how you complete it.
34
All right.
35
This is the main thing you have to remember first, get your notebook and pen ready.
36
That's right.
37
Have your notebook and pen ready.
38
And honestly, I'd say to have your notebook and pen right next to your bed.
39
Maybe you have a nightstand right next to your bed.
40
Keep your journal, your English journal and your pen right next to you.
41
So as soon as you wake up, you can go right to that journal, or maybe you have devotions in the morning, right?
42
After you have your devotion, get your journal and have your pen ready.
43
The next thing you want to do is to set a five minute timer.
44
I use my cell phone as a timer, but you can use your cell phone, your watch or any other device,
45
but it's important to set a five minute timer.
46
Why is this important?
47
Because you're only going to write for this five minute period, not longer and not shorter.
48
So you have to write as long as the timer is going.
49
And once it stops, you stop.
50
The third thing to remember is 13 third thing to remember is hit start
51
and don't stop writing until the timer goes off.
52
I just explained that you have to keep writing for that five minute period.
53
Now in the very beginning, this is going to be challenging.
54
It's going to feel like a long period of time, but the more you do it, the more consistent you are, the easier it will become.
55
Trust me, five minutes writing about your day, what you are going to do for that day.
56
All right.
57
Now I want you to remember something very important.
58
Don't worry about making mistakes.
59
stop
60
and erase instead just keep writing like the movie finding nemo
61
remember just keep swimming just keep swimming let's switch it just
62
keep writing just keep writing don't stop don't worry about mistakes
63
the main goal is to activate the english side of your brain that's why we're starting with a writing exercise.
64
It will force you to activate that side of your brain.
65
So activating the side of your brain that uses English is very important to start off this morning routine.
66
All right.
67
Five minutes.
68
Now let's move to part two.
69
You've written in your journal for five minutes and now it's time to have an input session.
70
Now I love this.
71
An input session.
72
So let me explain what this is all about.
73
You've done your five minute writing session.
74
Now we have part two, the 10 minute input session.
75
So what you're going to do is find a YouTube video
76
or other online video about a topic that you are interested in.
77
Notice I didn't say an English lesson.
78
I said a video about a topic you're interested in.
79
Making sure that they're speaking in English.
80
You can find a video about cooking, A video about sports, a video about technology.
81
It doesn't matter as long as they are speaking English.
82
All right.
83
As you watch the video, you are going to learn new words.
84
You should write down.
85
Remember you have your journal.
86
Write down the things that you don't already know.
87
As you're watching the video and enjoying it, if something pops up, maybe a new word or expression, write it down.
88
This is an important step.
89
Why?
90
Because you are now inputting new information into your brain.
91
Step one, we activated your brain, right? the English side.
92
Now, step two, we are putting new information into your brain.
93
In other words, you are increasing the English you will be able to use in real life conversations.
94
Listen, this morning routine is going to help you speak English fluently if you simply follow each step.
95
So how do you do this exactly?
96
Let's get the steps.
97
Here we go.
98
Step one for this part, find a YouTube video about a topic that you were interested in, right?
99
We talked about that.
100
Next, again, get your notebook and pen ready.
101
You have it right next to your bed still because you just finished the five minute writing session.
102
And as you watch the video again, write down five to 10 new expressions,
103
words, and or sentence patterns.
104
That's right.
105
10 minute video where native English speakers are speaking about a topic that you're interested in, you are going to hear a lot of new words,
106
a lot of new expressions.
107
So I want you to write down, don't look them up, just write down the words,
108
expressions, or patterns that you hear as you watch the video, write them down in your journal.
109
All right.
110
Now I need you to remember this.
111
Don't worry about looking up the definitions of the words or expressions.
112
The main goal of this part right here,
113
the 10 minute input session is to listen well and recognize new terms.
114
So we activated your English side of the brain.
115
Now we are inputting and improving your listening skills for part two or step two.
116
All right.
117
10 minutes.
118
So now we have five minutes and 10 minutes, only 15 minutes so far.
119
Let's jump into part number three.
120
Part number three is all about research, a 10 minute research session.
121
Now this is very important.
122
Let me explain how this works.
123
You're going to find the definitions for all the words and expressions.
124
This is an important step.
125
Why?
126
Because it will help you understand why the words and expressions were used in the video.
127
You just watched the video was about a topic that you're interested in.
128
So you're already glued to it, right?
129
Maybe you watch the video on your phone.
130
You're laying in bed and you're watching the video.
131
But now when you go in this part to look up the words and expressions, things start making sense.
132
Ah, that's why they use that word.
133
Ah, that's why they used that expression in the video.
134
So in other words, you will have a better understanding of the words
135
and expressions that native English speakers use in real life.
136
This step is extremely important.
137
Remember this morning routine is going to change your English fluency,
138
activating the brain to help you understand things in English,
139
inputting things into your brain to help you understand in English now helping you actually learn the meaning
140
so you can use them in real life.
141
So here are the steps once again, here we go.
142
Get your notebook and pen ready to search for the words and expressions online.
143
Three, write the definition and one example sentence for each word and expression.
144
This is very important.
145
You've learned the definition of each word, but now you need to see how the words are used in a sentence.
146
You've heard it while watching the video on YouTube or whatever platform you found the video on.
147
And now you're seeing other ways to use the word or expression in a real life situation.
148
All right.
149
Very important.
150
I also want you to remember something as well.
151
Don't worry about creating your own sentences yet.
152
Once again, don't worry about creating your own sentences just yet.
153
You're not going to do that yet.
154
The main goal for you is to understand how the words and expressions are used in real life.
155
We haven't gotten to the part where you will actually use them yet.
156
You're just understanding how other native English speakers use the word or expression in real life.
157
Makes sense, right?
158
Yeah, you with me.
159
Okay.
160
Part one again, activated the English part of your brain, five minutes.
161
Part two, we input information watching the YouTube video, 10 minutes.
162
Part three.
163
Now we've looked up things we've researched and now we're moving on to part number four of your morning routine.
164
Part four, the application session.
165
That's right.
166
Now it's time to apply what you've learned during this morning session.
167
So here we go.
168
First, you're going to rewrite your journal entry using three to five of the words you just learned.
169
Oh, this is when it gets exciting.
170
All right.
171
This is an important step because it will help you create triggers in your brain.
172
In other words, you will find it easier to use the new words in real conversations
173
because you already applied them to your daily life.
174
Oh, I love this step.
175
Okay.
176
Now I'm going to give you the clear steps again, but let me break this down.
177
Think about what we've been doing so far for this morning routine.
178
We activated the English side of your brain where you wrote about your day.
179
You already started to organize your thoughts about your day.
180
Then we paused and we input new information, enjoyed it.
181
Woo.
182
About whatever topic you chose.
183
Then we looked up the information we researched.
184
Now it's time to connect the dots to apply what you learned in part two
185
and part three and connect the dots by having part one and part four be connected by using part two and three.
186
Follow me.
187
Now you're going to rewrite what you wrote in part one in your journal.
188
You're going to rewrite it using the words you learned from part two and part three.
189
Here we go.
190
Watch this now again.
191
Here are the steps.
192
Once again, first get your notebook and your pen ready.
193
Review your journal entry from step one and step one.
194
You wrote in your journal, right?
195
Review it.
196
Read what you wrote during that five minute period.
197
Choose three to five words that relate to it.
198
Now, remember the words are going to come from the ones you wrote down in step two, when you were watching the video.
199
And then in step three, when you wrote down the definitions, right?
200
Of the words and expressions, you are going to choose three to five of those words that relate to what you wrote down in step one.
201
Makes sense, right?
202
You're following.
203
Oh, you are smart.
204
Then using the same context and topic, rewrite your entry using the new words.
205
So let's say in step one, you decided you wanted to write about a big meeting.
206
You have at work today, right?
207
You wrote it out.
208
I have a meeting at 10 AM with my boss and my coworkers.
209
We're talking about a new project and maybe you gave a few details.
210
Then you watched a video that was talking about new technology.
211
Maybe you watched a video about chat GPT or AI and how AI is getting so popular.
212
Then in step three, you looked up the new words and expressions.
213
You learned that innovative, the word innovative, something that's innovative.
214
I'm gonna let you look that one up.
215
Hey, then you go to four and you're like, wait a minute.
216
I can rewrite what I wrote in step one and say,
217
ah, we're having a meeting today about innovative technology because we want to use chat GPT in our business.
218
You're using what you learned in step two and three.
219
You're putting the pieces together.
220
This is why this morning routine is so amazing, but I want you to remember something, remember this, you don't have to write a longer entry.
221
Step four, part four, again, five minute application session.
222
It's only for five minutes as well.
223
The main goal is for you to understand how to use new words to talk about your daily life.
224
Listen closely.
225
Your daily life.
226
You want to speak English fluently.
227
Part of speaking English fluently is knowing how to speak about your life using words
228
and expressions that you hear or see people using on TV in a regular situation situation, in a normal situation, you hear them.
229
This is what English fluency is all about.
230
And this morning routine is going to take your English fluency to the next level.
231
Now, I don't want to stop here.
232
You see, actually I have started something brand new.
233
Now I have an app, the English with Tiffany app, and the link is in the description.
234
If you want to practice what you've been learning in this lesson, if you want to review to see if you understood everything
235
and I know you do I want you to download the
236
English with Tiffany app now this is what my team
237
and I have done in the app
238
when you download the app again the link is in the description it will open up
239
and you'll hit courses
240
and you'll see weekly English fluency lessons with teacher Tiffany then
241
you'll see the YouTube lessons that's right YouTube lessons from my channel you'll find this YouTube video
242
and you'll be able to to watch it through the app.
243
But then after watching it, you can actually go back and have practice lessons.
244
That's right, this is going to be for all of my YouTube videos moving forward.
245
You can practice what you're learning and then you'll be able to know for a fact that you have really understood.
246
So again, download the English with Tiffany app, the link is in the description,
247
and moving forward, you'll be able to practice everything that you're learning with me.
248
That's right.
249
Every YouTube lesson will have practice,
250
different practice sessions, different ways for you to make sure you've understood what I've taught you in the lesson.
251
So download the English with Tiffany app.
252
I hope you enjoyed this lesson.
253
I hope you follow this routine and I'll talk to you in the next lesson.
254
You still there?
255
You know what time it is.
256
It's story time.
257
I said it's story time.
258
All right.
259
Today's story is a funny one.
260
It's something that always makes me smile.
261
Even now, when I think about it, this happened well over 25, almost 30 years ago.
262
So, I have always been a very studious individual.
263
I have always loved learning, I love to study, and I love helping other people.
264
Even in the past, I loved helping other people learn new things.
265
So when I was growing up, the teachers always knew that I loved learning and I loved to study.
266
Now I was a very active individual.
267
I played sports.
268
I loved hanging with my friends.
269
So I felt like I was a balanced individual.
270
I loved studying, but I also enjoyed spending time with other people.
271
So anyways, in class, whenever our teacher would give us an assignment, she knew this This is a specific teacher, Ms. Howard.
272
She knew that I would work hard and probably finish first, right?
273
Myself and a few other students, we'd finish first, right?
274
Our class was very smart.
275
So it wasn't just me.
276
There were many of us that would finish early
277
and we'd kind of look at each other's work just to see
278
if we got the same answers and check each other's answers and help each other out.
279
So one day our teacher gave us all an assignment, the entire class.
280
There were about 25 of us in the classroom.
281
And she said, finish your assignment and then sit quietly at your desk.
282
Right.
283
So we got our assignments and we were all sitting down, you know, working on it.
284
And maybe we're working on a math problem.
285
I don't remember what subject it was.
286
We were working it out.
287
And so I finished.
288
Then my other friend finished.
289
And we all started finishing the assignment.
290
Again, we were very smart class.
291
So we all kind of finished the assignment.
292
And my teacher was sitting in the back of the class at her desk.
293
So remember there were 25 of us.
294
I think we were in sixth grade at the time, sixth or eighth grade at the time.
295
And I want you to imagine you have 10, 12, 15, 20 young people, right?
296
All around, say, 11 years old, 12 years old that have finished their assignments and you've told them to be quiet.
297
But they're sitting and they're starting to get restless.
298
We were getting restless.
299
Now remember, I was very astutious.
300
I was a good student.
301
I was never disrespectful, but we all liked to talk, to fact.
302
So one person looked over at me, I looked over at them, somebody said a joke, somebody , then another person .
303
And then we all busted out laughing, right?
304
We started talking and the teacher said, didn't I tell you guys to be quiet?
305
We were like, yes, we're sorry, we're sorry.
306
She said, no, I'm done.
307
So she said, put your pencils down.
308
We're like, oh, she's mad.
309
Right?
310
So we all got really quiet.
311
She went to the board.
312
And at that time, years ago, part of the punishment that children would get was to write lines.
313
Right?
314
You have to write lines.
315
The same thing over and over and over again.
316
So, for example, if you were talking, the teacher would say, I will not talk when the teacher has told me not to talk.
317
That's the sentence.
318
And he or she, depending on who your teacher was, would say write it 25 times, 50 times, 100 times.
319
Now this day our teacher was mad.
320
So she said, uh-uh, you guys have to write it 100 times.
321
Now she was an English teacher.
322
She taught us many different subjects, but her expertise was in the field of English.
323
So she knew how to use semicolons, colons, commas, everything properly.
324
So she wrote on the entire board.
325
It looked like a paragraph, but it was one sentence.
326
And she told us to write it 100 times.
327
So we're all sitting there in disbelief.
328
And then she puts the final period.
329
She says, now write a hundred times.
330
So there was a moment of silence.
331
I laugh now.
332
And then, and I know I was one of them.
333
We were like, okay, let's go, y'all.
334
And she was like, what?
335
So we all started writing.
336
And we were writing and writing and writing.
337
We were focused.
338
We were writing and writing.
339
So then somebody got to the 25th sentence and yelled out, what number are y'all on?
340
Somebody was like, I'm on 23.
341
What number are you on?
342
I'm on 25.
343
And everyone just started yelling out what number they were on.
344
They were like, all right, let's keep going guys.
345
So we kept writing.
346
Now that I'm an adult, I know the thoughts that were going through her head and I can chuckle now.
347
Think about this.
348
The children in the room, including me at that time, we were receiving a punishment to write lines, but we were having a good time doing it together,
349
competing with each other, encouraging each other
350
and it got to the point where we were calling out the numbers that we were on.
351
She said, just stop.
352
Just stop.
353
Put your pencils down.
354
She realized it was useless and we kind of chuckled.
355
We were still writing but then she said, put our pencils down.
356
We put them down and she said, okay, just stop.
357
Just stop.
358
It's time for recess and we all went outside for recess.
359
Now, this story makes me laugh because we weren't bad kids, right?
360
But we had to be punished at that moment because we were talking when we shouldn't have been talking.
361
But we were such a close-knit class.
362
We were all so tight.
363
We were such close friends that even in punishment, we found a way to enjoy it together.
364
So maybe you're a teacher, maybe you have kids.
365
If you have a class that always kind of comes together, even when they're in trouble, don't stress, don't worry.
366
They will be friends for life
367
because I am still friends with my friends back at that time and it's been about 25 or 30 years.
368
All right, I hope you enjoyed this story and I'll talk to you in the next lesson.

Pronúncia para ficar de olho

O falante usa 90 contrações e formas reduzidas, como you're, don't, we're. Diga-as na forma curta, do jeito que você ouve.

  • Os sons de “th”: mathematics /mæθ(.ə)ˈmæt.ɪks/, eighth /eɪtθ/
  • Os sons de “sh” e “zh”: devotion /dɪˈvoʊʃən/, punish /ˈpʌnɪʃ/
  • Palavras longas — acerte a sílaba tônica: innovative /ˈɪn.əˌveɪtɪv/, semicolon /ˈsɛmikoʊlən/, disrespectful /dɪs.ɹɪˈspɛkt.fəl/, intermediate /ɪn.tə(ɹ)ˈmi.di.ət/, mathematics /mæθ(.ə)ˈmæt.ɪks/
