1
Here's the truth, you've been showing up as a version of yourself that you're no longer aligned with,
2
and it's time to change that.
3
This is not just a reset video,
4
this is you actually starting over.
5
Not just because you want to,
6
but because you feel like you need to.
7
And somewhere along the way,
8
you lost track of yourself,
9
your habits, your energy, even your confidence.
10
The way you've been showing up is not how you want to move in this next season.
11
So today is the beginning of something new.
12
If you've been feeling behind,
13
stuck, or even just not like yourself lately,
14
just know that you're not alone.
15
This video is for anyone who needs a fresh start,
16
mentally, physically, emotionally, all of the above.
17
Let's talk about what it really takes to start over and how you're going to do that step by step.
18
As you get older, you're going to experience the art of starting over multiple times.
19
Whether that's in relationships, friendships,
20
career, environment, you're going to start over.
21
life ebbs and flows and you're thrown different roadblocks,
22
you're going to be able to differentiate whether you need to reinvent your life altogether or refine it.
23
It's the difference between reinvention and refinement because you can leave a career,
24
you can move to a big city,
25
but once the novelty of this big city fades,
26
you might just find yourself back to where you were a few months ago.
27
So that's why it's important to really take the time to understand whether
28
your life needs a complete overhaul and reinvention or some fine-tuned tweaks or refinement.
29
Let's talk about the two.
30
Reinvention is resetting your life.
31
It is creating a new version of yourself and your life.
32
Refining is simply leveling up.
33
You're already on the right path.
34
You just need to sharpen it a bit.
35
Before we move into reinvention or refinement,
36
you need to perform a life audit.
37
Look at the four categories of your life,
38
career, environment, relationships, habits, and rank them on a scale of one to five.
39
One being not so great, five being amazing.
40
How do you feel like you're actually performing in each of these areas?
41
And if you rank anything under a three,
42
you need to explain why you feel that way.
43
Now, when you're able to look at your life in this way,
44
you're going to be able to identify whether there are certain areas that are trickling into others.
45
You might not hate your job.
46
Your relationship might be falling apart and that might be trickling into your performance at work.
47
Little things like that are really hard to visualize when you're just living through it day by day.
48
That's why a life audit is very important.
49
If you rank anything about a one or a two,
50
you might just need reinvention in that category.
51
If you rank anything a three and above,
52
you might just need a little refinement and that's great too.
53
If you need to refine your life,
54
then you should do this.
55
Start by identifying the areas in your life that need tightening up in each of these categories.
56
When I was a cheer coach,
57
I used to have to have these tightening up conversations with my girls because every once in a while,
58
our program would start falling apart.
59
And this happened multiple times throughout the year.
60
I would sit the girls down,
61
we'd have a little huddle,
62
and I would basically ask them what's going on here.
63
I'm having you girls doing this over here,
64
teachers are emailing me, some of you are showing up late.
65
This is not the program that we've built.
66
And we didn't come this far just to come this far and let the whole program burn down to the ground.
67
We need to tighten that.
68
Each girl would go around and share how they were feeling about the program,
69
how they were feeling about their personal life if they felt inclined,
70
and what was going on with them overall.
71
After they did that, they'd go around
72
and speak on what they were going to do to show up as a better teammate,
73
as a better athlete, and show up better for themselves in general.
74
After that, we would typically be back on the right page because we took the time to audit our lives,
75
to talk about what was going on internally
76
and why we're not showing up as the best version of ourselves for the people in our lives.
77
Nine times out of 10,
78
it always resulted in us showing up better the next day.
79
You need to do the same for yourself.
80
You need to look at yourself in the mirror,
81
have a little tough love moment and ask yourself what's going on here.
82
This is not the person that you've built up
83
and you didn't come this far just to come this far
84
and let everything that you've built up to this moment crashed to the ground.
85
So let's refine certain areas of our lives.
86
Let's refine our habits.
87
If I'm not showing up in the best way that I can here,
88
this is what I can do to show up better in this area.
89
This is what I need to do in this area to show up better.
90
And this is what I need to do in this area to show up better.
91
You need to identify the areas that need tightening up,
92
write it out, and make the change immediately.
93
Next, it's important to understand that as the seasons change,
94
new normals will arise.
95
As you move through your early,
96
mid to late 20s, early,
97
mid to late 30s, 40s,
98
50s, 60s, new seasons come and new normals arise.
99
And you need to learn to adjust to these new normals.
100
You're not always going to be the same you that you were in your early twenties.
101
You're not always going to be the same you that you were in your mid twenties and your late twenties.
102
And as you move into these different seasons,
103
early thirties, mid thirties, late thirties,
104
early forties, life is going to shift around you.
105
And you can either catch up or stay behind and stay yearning for what once was.
106
It's just a result of not only you getting older,
107
but your environment getting older as well.
108
You're not always going to feel the same way you felt about your job when you first started it.
109
You're not always going to feel the same way about your friendships as they progress.
110
But just because they're changing,
111
just because the seasons are changing,
112
doesn't mean that you no longer want to be friends with the people in your life anymore.
113
It doesn't mean that you no longer want to be at your job anymore.
114
You're just different.
115
Your job just might be different and you just might need to adjust to this new normal.
116
I deal with nostalgia pretty heavily.
117
I know a lot of millennials do.
118
And one thing I've realized when it comes to my friendships is
119
that as we're moving through these different seasons of our lives,
120
things are just going to change more and more.
121
And it doesn't mean that I hate all my friends and that I need to get all new friends.
122
It just means that I need to adjust to the changes that are happening and it's bittersweet and it's sad,
123
and I'm definitely the type that will bring it up every single time we all hang out,
124
but it's just because I'm sad that life is changing.
125
And it's also me identifying that we're growing up and
126
that how we used to keep up with each other is
127
going to have to look a lot different now as we get older.
128
I also feel the same way with my job as a creator.
129
There are times where I wonder why I don't feel the spark that I did in the beginning often,
130
and it's not because I don't love this anymore.
131
It's just that I'm in a different season of life.
132
I'm different.
133
My mindset's different.
134
I've matured so much throughout the years.
135
I'm not who I was in my mid to late 20s anymore.
136
I'm in my early 30s and I value different things now.
137
And the way I look at my career as a creator has changed drastically.
138
I might be feeling the way I am feeling because I'm not letting myself evolve.
139
I'm not letting my channel evolve with who I am today.
140
As the seasons change, it's important to realize that new normals are going to arise.
141
And with those new normals,
142
you need to learn to adjust and realize that you might not need to uproot everything and change things altogether.
143
You just might need to adjust.
144
And lastly, as you're making these changes during your refinement season,
145
it's important to remember to maintain the changes that you've made.
146
Okay.
147
You can't come this far and see the positive growth
148
and see the positive changes in your life just to turn around and take 10 steps back.
149
Maintain the habits that you've built so you can actually see lasting change,
150
lasting happiness, lasting contentment throughout your journey.
151
Look back at your life audit as the weeks go on
152
so you can remember how you were feeling just a few weeks ago.
153
Check in with yourself as the weeks go on just so you can identify whether or not you're actually experiencing growth.
154
If you're in a season of reinvention,
155
then you should do this.
156
Look at your life audit and figure out the area in your life that needs reinvention.
157
You need to figure out everything that you need to do before you perform this overhaul.
158
You need to figure out everything that needs to be done after.
159
And you need to talk about the things that can actually go wrong.
160
Whenever you are in a season of reinvention,
161
everything is going to feel sticky.
162
The days leading up to you making this big change feel heavy,
163
feel intense they might just be the worst days of your life, honestly.
164
And that is definitely a clear sign of life telling you that you need to move on from this thing,
165
the situation, relationship, whatever it is,
166
it's a clear sign that you are not where you need to be.
167
However, it's important to remember that your worst days tend to lead to the best ones.
168
So you might be in turmoil,
169
you might be in chaos,
170
and every day you walk into the building at work,
171
you might want to just walk right back out to your car,
172
but you need to figure these things out.
173
Everything that you need to do leading up to that change,
174
what is going to happen after you leave and what can go wrong?
175
It's important that despite everything feeling chaotic,
176
you figure these things out before prematurely jumping ship.
177
I can't say that I've always done this the right way.
178
When I was a teacher,
179
I was so ready to leave the days leading up to my resignation.
180
Every day felt like the worst day ever.
181
However, I was trying very hard to make it to the end of the semester,
182
which was in December.
183
I left in October.
184
I ended up leaving early because every single day just felt like turmoil
185
and things just felt like they were getting worse and worse.
186
But that was not the plan.
187
And I don't recommend that.
188
Make a plan for the days leading up.
189
This is just for you to cover your bases.
190
Look at your finances.
191
Look at your savings.
192
Look at maybe some things that you need to fix before you jump ship and before you jump to another area.
193
Think of the things that you need to adjust emotionally, mentally, physically.
194
It's really important for you to take a step back and look at everything that needs to be done before you leave.
195
Also, you need to figure out what you're going to do when you leave.
196
You can't just jump ship without a plan.
197
Figure out your steps.
198
Are you going to take a break from working altogether?
199
Do you have the money in your account to be able to take this break?
200
What are you going to do afterwards for work?
201
What are you planning to do?
202
Are you planning to go back to school?
203
Are you planning to get a new job in a different field?
204
Are you planning to get a new job in a similar field?
205
What is the plan after that?
206
What is your course of action?
207
And lastly, what is everything that can go wrong?
208
Because there will be things that go wrong.
209
And nine times out of 10,
210
those things will be dealing with money.
211
What are you prepared to do if you have a financial blip?
212
If you need a couple thousand dollars,
213
are you prepared to pay a couple thousand dollars for an emergency?
214
It's really important for you to answer these things before you up
215
and move to a new city or before you just quit your job because you're unhappy.
216
Figure these things out first before jumping ship.
217
I support you changing your life and changing things up,
218
but doing this in the most responsible way will make your life a lot better.
219
Next, figure out what your end goal is.
220
What is the ultimate goal of overhauling your life and write it out.
221
Are you trying to reintroduce yourself to this new version of you?
222
Are you trying to save your relationship?
223
Are you trying to move up the corporate ladder?
224
Are you trying to really invest in the best version of yourself
225
and get yourself exactly where you feel like you deserve you should be?
226
What is the end goal and keep it in your peripheral,
227
write it out every day or look at it every day.
228
So you can remember what all of this was for,
229
because there are going to be days where things get so uncomfortable,
230
so tough, so sticky.
231
Reinvention isn't always beautiful and fun and exciting.
232
It might feel that way in the beginning,
233
but as the months go on and as the fun start to dry up and as the dreams start to wither,
234
it's really important to remember why you got here in the first place and why you need to continue pushing forward.
235
Keep the end goal in sight because there's going to be so many things that pop up that test you,
236
that make you feel like you are not doing exactly what you need to do.
237
And don't let that happen.
238
Whenever I was leaving my job,
239
I made the mistake of telling a lot of people what I was doing.
240
I don't know why I did that.
241
And I was met with a lot of criticism,
242
just people not understanding why I was doing what I was doing.
243
And it was because it's not their life.
244
However, I was younger back then.
245
I was what, 27?
246
And I was a lot more impressionable and words honestly stuck a lot harder to me back then.
247
And it made me start to second guess myself.
248
It made me second guess myself.
249
Now, if I was honestly sitting down and writing out what the end goal was every single day,
250
those words wouldn't have stung as hard as they did.
251
No, those words would have gone in one ear and gone right out the other.
252
And I wouldn't have sat there after work every day,
253
questioning myself and questioning those conversations with with people
254
and feeling like what I was doing was dumb
255
because I had confidence in myself and my abilities and I knew what my ultimate goal was.
256
Now I'm living in my ultimate goal.
257
And all those people that questioned what the end goal was
258
and why I feel as though I deserve to just leave and do everything that I was planning to do.
259
All those people that questioned me don't matter anymore because as time has gone on,
260
my end goal has been in my forefront.
261
It's been in my peripheral.
262
It's been right here.
263
I write it down every single day.
264
I speak life into myself every single day
265
So it's important to write out what the ultimate goal is
266
and be confident in that goal And
267
when anybody asks you Why you're doing all of this
268
and why you're uprooting your life and
269
when they tell you how silly it is You can give them a stern answer on who you are
270
and your abilities and why you know You're not where you want to be
271
and how you're going to get where you want to be
272
and why you deserve it Be so confident in your abilities that you have no choice but to thrive.
273
Be so confident in yourself that you have no choice but to thrive in this new person that you're becoming.
274
And lastly, whether you need to reinvent yourself or refine yourself,
275
nine times out of 10,
276
if you're in a season of change,
277
your habits probably need fine tuning.
278
This is a time to reset your habits overall.
279
Wake up a little bit earlier and reset your morning routine.
280
Take the time in the morning to meditate,
281
journal, pray, and just really get yourself set up for the day ahead.
282
I love doing a little reset for my morning routine because typically it's just so easy to let it slide.
283
It's so easy to wake up later and later as time goes on.
284
It's so easy to wake up every single morning,
285
check social media, make that a habit.
286
And every single time I fine tune everything and make my morning routine a lot more intentional,
287
everything else falls in line for me.
288
I start to have more mental clarity.
289
I start to be more productive throughout my day.
290
And my anxiety starts to dwindle down.
291
Fine tune your morning routine and make it a morning routine that leads to that person that you want to become.
292
It's not just about writing down the things that need to be changed and changing those things,
293
you need to change your habits overall and your morning routine might be a big one that needs refinement.
294
Number two is your health.
295
Making sure you're drinking an adequate amount of water,
296
getting your exercise in daily,
297
eating as healthy as possible and not leaning onto ultra processed foods,
298
fast foods, alcohol, especially during a season of change.
299
This will sabotage your growth and this will push you so far back that once you make the changes in your life,
300
it's going to be really hard for you to celebrate the growth because you're not eating healthy.
301
You don't have energy to thrive and you haven't been taking care of yourself.
302
You might make these huge changes in your life,
303
move to a new city,
304
get a new job, et cetera,
305
et cetera, and then fall into a deep depression because you weren't taking care of yourself along the way.
306
So make sure that you are eating healthy,
307
drinking your water, taking your vitamins during this time,
308
staying away from the alcohol because alcohol can really mess up your mindset,
309
your momentum, and it's not a good thing to lean on during a season of change.
310
I'll tell you that.
311
And lastly, when it comes to your habits,
312
make sure that you are consuming media that is inspiring.
313
You do not need negativity in your life.
314
You don't need negative people spewing negative rhetoric into your ear.
315
You don't need negative media infiltrating your mind and your life.
316
Make sure you are consuming things that are positive,
317
that give you energy to continue living the life that you want to live and that continue inspiring you day to day.
318
And that is it.
319
Let me know if you are starting over in your life down below,
320
what you are wanting to do moving forward in the next few months
321
or next year and how you're planning to do that.
322
Thank you so much for joining me today.
323
And I hope this video resonated with someone out there.
324
And if it did, let me know down below.
325
I'll see you guys in the next video.
326
Peace out, Girl Scout.
327
Bye.
