Today we're going to take another look at the preposition down and what it can mean when it's used with phrasal verbs.

So, in a previous video, we saw that down can mean topple or collapse.

And we can extend this to get the idea of not functioning or stop functioning.

And the reason for this is that when something has collapsed or toppled, it's generally no longer functioning.

So let's take a look at some examples of phrasal verbs that use down in this way.
