1
Let me ask you something.
2
Have you ever walked out of a work meeting that you've spoken at and immediately feel that sense of cringe?
3
For example, the meeting is over, you're walking halfway back to your desk, and the thoughts are running in your mind.
4
You're asking yourself, why did I say it like that?
5
Why did my voice sound like that?
6
Did I even make any sense?
7
Were people even paying attention to me?
8
It feels as though my words didn't even land.
9
Or maybe it's the opposite.
10
Maybe you didn't say anything at all.
11
And that's the part that you're cringing at because you know that you had a good point, but you let that moment pass you by.
12
And now you're stuck with this annoying thought that says, I should have spoken up.
13
I could have added value.
14
I could have made a good impression in front of the senior leaders and I didn't.
15
And if this has been happening to you consistently in the workplace, you're likely at a point now where it's not going unnoticed.
16
Maybe you've actually already gotten some feedback from your manager about this.
17
Perhaps in your latest performance review, you might have gotten feedback that said, you need to speak up more.
18
You need to be more visible.
19
You need to show more leadership presence.
20
And what makes it so frustrating is that you know you're not slacking.
21
You know that you're the one that's staying up late and working hard on these projects.
22
You're the one that's doing the deep, detailed work.
23
You're the one that's fixing things when things get broken.
24
And yet somehow, you're not getting noticed for it.
25
And at the same time, you're watching your colleagues who, let's be honest, they're not working as hard as you are.
26
They're getting the opportunities.
27
They're getting tapped on the shoulders for more higher visibility projects.
28
They're getting the promotions.
29
And they're the ones getting recognized and credibility in meetings.
30
And now you're realizing something that is scary to admit out loud.
31
And that is your time is coming up.
32
Because in 2026, with the way the world is going, with AI, with changes in how we do our work, if you cannot communicate clearly in meetings,
33
in front of your co-workers, in front of senior leaders, in front of clients, especially under pressure, your career can become at risk.
34
And no matter how hard you're working, you're being perceived as less senior, less strategic, less leadership ready.
35
And if this is you, you are who I call a quiet achiever.
36
And I know because I've written an entire book about it.
37
It's become an Amazon bestseller in several countries.
38
And if you're a quiet achiever who doesn't feel as though you're thriving in your career, it's because you are one who is working hard in your career,
39
but your voice is not carrying the weight of your work.
40
And that needs to change.
41
So not to worry.
42
In this video, I'm going to share with you the mindsets that you need to start embodying in 2026,
43
as well as the communication framework that I love to use
44
that will help you to go from invisible to influential in meetings.
45
It will help you go from feeling self-doubt, hesitant, uncertain in the way that you sound and communicate to feeling calm,
46
confident, clear, and being able to deliver your ideas with conviction.
47
Even if you tend to get nervous, even if there are senior leaders in the room,
48
I know these strategies work because I've witnessed my clients go through this shift in our program Quiet to Confident.
49
My client Laurent is a perfect example of this.
50
Before starting our program, she had been given feedback by her manager
51
that she needed to speak up more and her performance was at risk.
52
However, after implementing this exact framework that I'm going to teach you today, she started sounding more confident in meetings.
53
She no longer sounded like she was just reporting information and instead sounded like a leader.
54
People turned to her for her insights and guidance.
55
And that has now since been reflected in her latest performance review, which has indicated that she is ready to move up to the next level.
56
She is ready to be promoted.
57
This can happen for you too.
58
If you're at the point where you've realized that you can no longer afford to keep being overlooked at work, then this video is for you.
59
And that's also why I put together my free PDF called Speak Confidently in Meetings Guide.
60
It includes the exact framework that I'm going to be teaching you today, as well as scripts, prompts, and phrases that you can use in your next meeting,
61
especially when you don't have enough time to be able to prepare a perfect answer.
62
In order to get it, just comment the word confident down in the comments below, and I'll be sure to send you the link.
63
Okay.
64
So let's talk about the real mindset shift that you need to make.
65
This isn't about just being louder or talking more or being more fake or more dominant, more aggressive.
66
This is about flipping an internal switch.
67
That switch is taking you from doer to leader.
68
You want to become the expert, the leader, the trusted advisor, the person that people turn to for guidance, for insights, for opinions.
69
And you have to be able to do it in a way where people can actually see it, where your coworkers, your manager,
70
your senior leaders can actually see that there is a shift within you.
71
Because here is what quiet achievers don't realize until it's often too late.
72
And that is that you can be exceptional at your work, exceptional at execution, and yet you still get flagged as not leadership material.
73
Or in other words, you're seen as not ready for the next level.
74
You can be that person who does all the amazing things, works behind the scenes, saves the projects, and yet you still get passed over.
75
I have seen it time and again.
76
And here's the thing.
77
If your manager has already shared with you that you need to speak up more at work, that's not casual feedback.
78
That is a sign.
79
It's a sign that your work, your presence, your energy is not being felt at the level that it needs to be felt.
80
And if you ignore that sign long enough, one of two things will happen.
81
One, you become what I call a steady eddy
82
and you end up stagnating in the same role for years on end with no promotion, no raise in pay, no real challenges, no real growth.
83
Or two, the worst case scenario is that you become vulnerable.
84
Your job becomes at risk where if budgets tighten, if priorities shift, if there's restructuring that happens,
85
you'll find that those individuals who tend to be more visible, more influential, they tend to get protected more so than those who are not.
86
I know it's not fair, but it's true.
87
And I think you know it too.
88
So let's fix that right now.
89
The first mindset shift is to go from task doer to thought partner.
90
If you've been watching my videos for a while, you've heard me say this time and again, and that is hard work alone does not get you promoted.
91
Visibility, trust, and influence, however, they do.
92
And I want to be careful here because I understand that as quiet achievers, you hear the word visibility and automatically you're thinking,
93
I need to self-promote constantly.
94
And that's not what I mean.
95
I mean, you need to know how to be seen in the moments that matter.
96
So think about what happens in a performance review.
97
Your manager isn't just evaluating the work that you do on your own as an individual contributor.
98
If they're a good manager, most likely they're also evaluating the impact that you're making in public,
99
meaning the impact that you have in front of your co-workers, in front of senior leaders, in front of clients and other stakeholders.
100
They're asking, what did you contribute in leadership meetings?
101
Did you drive alignment?
102
Did you elevate thinking?
103
Did you influence decisions?
104
And this is why there will be cases where you see your coworker who you deem as less competent,
105
less detailed, and sometimes even less reliable, get promoted over you.
106
Because in important meetings, in interactions with the right people, they show up as a thought partner.
107
They know how to shape the conversation.
108
They know how to influence and gain buy-in for their ideas.
109
They know how to bring recommendations rather than just listing out all the tasks that they've completed.
110
You need to make the shift from someone who just does the work, who just reports on information and details to someone who is a strategic business partner.
111
That is the shift.
112
So next time that you're in a meeting, I want you to stop thinking, I'm just here to give an update.
113
And instead to start thinking, I'm here to help them think.
114
I'm here to help them make decisions.
115
I'm here to help guide the conversation forward.
116
So to help you with this, before your next meeting, ask yourself these few questions.
117
If I were already the trusted advisor in this room, what would I clarify?
118
What risk would I flag?
119
What recommendation would I make?
120
What trade-off would I name?
121
Remember, leaders don't just share information.
122
They're there to reduce confusion.
123
They're there to guide direction.
124
They're there to influence others to move in the direction that they want to go in.
125
Now let's move on to mindset shift number two, and that is good communication is consistent, not perfect.
126
As quiet achievers, we tend to have the habit of waiting for the perfect moment to speak up, where we have the perfect phrases,
127
the perfect certainty in what we're saying, the perfect confidence.
128
And then we I wonder why we're stuck.
129
Because the truth is, strong communicators, they are not perfect.
130
And they don't necessarily wait to be perfect in what they have to share.
131
But strong communicators are consistent.
132
As quiet achievers, because we're introspective in nature, we're also highly self-aware.
133
And that is actually a trap because you're so aware of yourself.
134
You're monitoring yourself constantly, criticizing, judging, listening to how you sound and worried about what others think
135
that it ends up blocking you from being able to even use your voice in a natural, authentic way.
136
So what happens is when you do speak up in a meeting, you're not fully present and you find yourself watching yourself while you speak.
137
So here's what I want you to take on as your new rule.
138
Think of it like going to the gym.
139
Every meeting is like building a rep at the gym.
140
And yes, some reps are going to feel awkward, but you cannot think your way into executive presence.
141
You cannot think your way into being a leader.
142
You have to train it.
143
You have to build that muscle.
144
And you can start off small.
145
You can say, okay, in my next meeting, I'm going to make one comment.
146
And that's good, but that's not great.
147
Don't just aim for one little comment.
148
Aim for one leadership move.
149
So it could be a recommendation, an important insight, a risk that no one has considered, something that goes above and beyond what everyone else is saying.
150
Because a weak comment can still keep you invisible, but making a leadership move like that is what makes you memorable.
151
So ask yourself, what would it feel like if you stopped trying to sound perfect and instead started sounding clear, convincing, and confident?
152
So as I'm saying this, if you're thinking to yourself, okay, Linda, I get it.
153
I have to speak up more, but I have no idea what to say.
154
That's why I created the Speak Confidently in Meetings PDF guide.
155
All you have to do is write the word confident in the comments down below, and I'll send you the link so you can download it right away.
156
So now that you can put these mindset shifts with the actual structure in place, but don't worry, we're going to get into that as well.
157
Now, very quickly, if you are a quiet achiever who is trying to elevate your communication, but at the same time, you happen to also be looking for a new job,
158
then today's sponsor will definitely be of help to you.
159
I want to take a moment to thank today's sponsor, AI Apply.
160
Now, most of you watching are likely employed, but if you happen to be in the middle of a job hunt,
161
I know how exhausting it is to have to manually tailor every single resume.
162
And this is where AI Apply can help.
163
It's an all-in-one platform that is designed to do the heavy lifting for you.

One feature I found particularly interesting is their interview buddy.
168
It provides real-time help and answers during your actual interviews, which is a great tool if you tend to freeze or lose your train of thought under pressure.
169
Job searching doesn't necessarily have to be a full-time job in itself anymore.
170
With AI Apply, you can do this effortlessly.
171

172

173
I'll also include the link in the description box down below.
174
Now, after you've used AI apply successfully, and you're able to get that foot in the door, you still need to be able to own the room from a communication perspective.
175
And that leads us directly into mindset shift number three, which is to anchor your value.
176
You want to stop shrinking and start saying.
177
The biggest mistake that I often see high achieving professionals make, specifically those of us who are introverted, more quiet, more thoughtful in nature,
178
is that we tend to shrink in front of senior people.
179
When you're in front of senior executives, you feel as though you have to earn permission in order to speak.
180
You can't speak out of line.
181
You can't raise your voice in a way where you have
182
that level of conviction because they know more than you do you can't say something stupid or wrong
183
and the irony is the senior leaders they don't want you
184
to shrink they want you to make their lives easier they're
185
executives they're moving fast they have a lot of things going
186
on they don't have the full context of everything they don't have all the details the way that you do.
187
They need you to bring clarity to complexity.
188
They rely on you to translate complexity into clarity.
189
If you're about to take on a new position or you've just joined your position recently, they don't care that you're new, but they do care about several other things.
190
They care that you can frame the situation, you can name what matters, you can recommend next steps, and that you can follow through.
191
So before your next meeting, I want you to anchor in this one truth.
192
And that one truth says, I know this work better than anyone in this room.
193
Because you do, closer than anyone else in the room.
194
And your perspective matters.
195
And if you don't offer your perspective, your insights, your opinions, they will make decisions without you included.
196
And you end up being stuck, executing on decisions that you did not get to influence in the first place.
197
So now that we've covered the three mindset shifts that you need to embody, let's move on over to the key communication framework
198
that you need to understand if you want to be able to deliver clear updates in your next meeting.
199
And this is called the SAY framework, S-A-Y.
200
SAY is simple, repeatable, and it works in 99% of professional work meetings.
201
This works for when you're giving progress updates, recommendations, you're trying to align different stakeholders during difficult conversations,
202
and even during performance reviews, especially when you have to defend your impact.
203
This is a structure that helps people to see your thinking, not just your output.
204
So this is what SAY stands for.
205
S stands for situation, and this is all about context.
206
Name what's going on, what's happening, what's the project, the change, the situation at hand.
207
For example, your S for your situation could be, over the last quarter, client response times have dropped by 20%.
208
Or in another meeting scenario, you might be saying, right now we're seeing multiple teams escalating requests as urgent.
209
When you give context this way, everyone is on the same page.
210
They know what's going on.
211
From there, you move on to A, which stands for analysis or assessment.
212
This is where you interpret what does this mean?
213
What's the impact?
214
What's driving it?
215
And this is also where you stop being the update person
216
and you start being the thought partner because now you're giving people insight into your way of thinking, into your assessment of the situation.
217
So for example, you might end up saying, After looking at the support ticket flow, the biggest driver is inconsistent usage of the new software.
218
So requests are bouncing between teams.
219
Or you might say, what's happening is we don't have shared prioritization criteria.
220
So everything is being treated like a fire drill.
221
And finally, from there, you would give why your recommendation.
222
After you've shared what the situation is, what your analysis of the situation is, you want to share what your recommendation is.
223
So what is the decision that you want to make?
224
What's the next step?
225
As an example, one could say, my recommendation is that we run a 15-minute refresher training Friday, assign one owner per request type,
226
and we'll see response times recover by next month.
227
Or you could say, my recommendation is we align on the top three priorities today by impact and effort, and I'll come back with a timeline by the end of the week.
228
Do you feel the difference?
229
You, in that scenario, didn't just give an update, but you guided direction.
230
You made it easier for leaders to decide what to do next.
231
You sounded like someone who can be trusted with more responsibility.
232
That is what gets you promotions.
233
That's what gets you higher visibility projects.
234
That is what protects your job and ultimately your career.
235
Because remember, in the Western workplace, people do not just promote the hardest worker.
236
They promote the person who can think, communicate, and influence under pressure.
237
At the end of the day, this is all about you going from invisible to influential.
238
And so I want you to reflect on this.
239
If you do nothing to change the way that you are showing up in your career, in the way that you communicate, in the way that you articulate your words,
240
if you're doing nothing to change that, where do you think your career trajectory will be in the next 6 to 12 months?
241
especially with AI coming in, taking over the technical aspects of your job, especially with layoffs happening, the world of work is changing, the chaos that's happening in the world,
242
where will you be if you cannot communicate your value and what you do well?
243
Reflect on that and make sure
244
that you comment down below the word confident to get my speak confidently in meetings guide
245
so that you can start shifting from invisible to influential today.
246
If you enjoyed this, make sure that you click on this video next or this video next, wherever that is, for more tips on how to communicate more confidently at work.
