1
So tell us a little bit about your character in the background.
2
We first meet Diana when she's five or six years old.
3
And she's this young, sassy, you know, naughty little girl who just wants to learn how to fight.
4
But her mother, she's being sheltered by her mother.
5
but her aunt who's played by Robin Wright starts to secretly teach her how to fight
6
and she she educates her about some of her powers
7
and then Katsu when she grows
8
when she grows up all of the sudden this man appears on the island of Themyscira
9
and he tells her about some you know bad things
10
that are happening in the man's world and she decides she has to go with him in order to help men's mankind.
11
Great and Chris tell us about your character.
12
I play Steve Trevor who's an American pilot spying for the British on the Germans
13
and I come across this journal filled with equations for this awful gas
14
that's intended to be used to kill the Allies in a
15
last -ditch effort by the Germans to win the war
16
and I'm hunted by the Germans as I have this notebook crash land on the island
17
I meet this beautiful woman who I'm intrigued by
18
but I have to get back to the war to you know try to do something about it
19
and she wants to come with me
20
so I take her back to the to the land of men
21
and have to teach her what it's like to be alive in the world with bad people
22
and she teaches me something about hopefulness the chemistry
23
that you two have on screen is is great and
24
and you really get caught up in their story
25
but it's it's part of the love story and
26
and part of this this worldly story
27
so what is it about each of your characters
28
that you feel attracts them to each other coming from such different backgrounds um i think
29
that both of them you know in their core are very good
30
so they have a lot of a lot in common
31
but on the other on the other hand i think
32
that you know when i start my journey i'm this young idealist who believes
33
that the world is is good and mankind are good
34
and you know it's very black and white good is good evil is evil
35
and i don't understand and the complexities of life.
36
And he's the one to educate me and to teach me about the complexities of mankind.
37
And I think that she's the one to remind him, you know, about, she reminds him about love and hope.
38
And eventually they have this mutual journey in which they learn from each other.
39
That's about right.
40
That was good.
41
There's a lot of, this takes place during
42
World War I, and also there's a lot of physicality to these roles.
43
How did you prepare emotionally and physically for these roles?
44
Well, I mean, Gal had to do the lion's share of the action and stuff,
45
so she had to get in shape and learn the choreography and stuff like that.
46
And my role physically was a little bit more, I would figure stuff out on the day for my little mini fights that I had.
47
I kind of always liked characters that learn their fighting in bars, so it's a little bit rough and messy, you know.
48
But emotionally it was a very interesting journey to, you know, to fall in love with a woman
49
and then to have to teach someone about things that we think about but often don't have to explain,
50
like why war and why do we go to war
51
and why do people kill each other and these great questions
52
that seem simplistic but are are good questions to ask
53
and uh and then really just with a great director
54
that was pushing for authenticity
55
and speaking speaking of the director what did patty what did
56
patty bring to the table on this wow her heart yeah i was gonna say it um no
57
but patty I feel like I'm the luckiest actress that I got to work with such an amazing person as Betty.
58
She really knows how to create intimacy with the actors that she's working with on any level.
59
It felt like her vision was very clear to both of us from the very beginning.
60
And I always felt like I can speak to her creatively, emotionally about the character.
61
She was there with me the entire time.
62
A true partner.
63
And she's just a very unique, special human.
64
She's amazing.
65
I have another question here.
66
So can you tell us about your experiences at the different locations that you shot at?
67
The majority of the movie was shot in England during the winter.
68
It was a really clever idea to shoot
69
Wonder Woman during the winter wearing the Wonder Woman costume.
70
It was a lot of fun.
71
So we shot there, and the Themyscirian part was shot in Italy, which was amazing and beautiful and tasty.
72
I'm telling about the experience.
73
It's a great adjective.
74
It's tasty.
75
It was saltier.
76
London, however, was a little bit sweeter.
77
No. And we shot in Paris just a little bit.
78
It was great.
79
Such a bummer of a shoot.
80
Hmm?
81
Such a bummer of a shoot.
82
Why?
83
I didn't get the job?
84
Shoot!
85
Okay, yeah, that's it.
86
So what should audiences expect out of this film?
87
Or what do you hope that they get out of this film?
88
First of all, I hope they enjoy the movie.
89
That's like, you know, the simplest thing.
90
and I hope that it's an action superhero movie but at the end of the day we dealt with some serious questions
91
like take it from here.
92
I think this is a superhero film we've all seen a bunch of superhero films and they tend to be complicated
93
damaged people that are dealing with difficult questions.
94
This is a movie that deals with difficult questions
95
but through the prism of a woman who comes from a place of love
96
and compassion and this earnest curiosity about the world.
97
It just reminds us the simple things in life that we had forgotten and it's good to go back to them.
98
You know what I mean?
99
Not be, eh, never mind. But yeah.
