71
and super confident okay what you have to do is those
và cực kỳ tự tin, được rồi, việc bạn cần làm là những thứ đó
72
seven things either you write them down somewhere on a piece of paper
bảy thứ hoặc là bạn viết chúng ra đâu đó trên một tờ giấy
73
or maybe after watching the video come back to the first point
hoặc có thể sau khi xem video thì quay lại điểm đầu tiên

79
I want you to do this.
Tôi muốn bạn làm việc này.
80
Okay.
Được rồi.
81
So this is my point number one.
Vậy đó là điểm thứ nhất của tôi.
82
And that is to stop asking for permission to speak.
Và đó là ngừng xin phép để được nói lên tiếng nói của mình.
83
You don't even know it, but you do it.
Bạn thậm chí không biết điều đó, nhưng bạn vẫn làm vậy.
84
Most people don't realize this, but they ask permission before they speak.
Hầu hết mọi người không nhận ra điều này, nhưng họ thực sự xin phép trước khi nói.
85
I just wanted to say, sorry, but maybe I'm wrong.
Tôi chỉ muốn nói rằng, xin lỗi, nhưng có lẽ tôi đã nhầm.
86
But the moment you start your sentence like this, you're telling the listener that whatever you're about to say is optional.
Nhưng ngay lúc bạn bắt đầu câu bằng cách này, bạn đang nói với người nghe rằng bất cứ điều gì bạn sắp nói đều chỉ là lựa chọn thêm thôi.
87
They can choose to not listen to you or they may choose to not take your advice seriously.
Họ có thể chọn không lắng nghe bạn, hoặc họ có thể chọn không coi trọng lời khuyên của bạn.
88
You're giving that consent to them.

89
Confident people don't sound loud.
Những người tự tin không bao giờ nói to.
90
They just sound certain.

91
Instead of asking for permission, enter the sentence directly.
Thay vì xin phép, hãy nhập câu đó trực tiếp.
92
I'll tell you a few changes.
Tôi sẽ kể cho bạn nghe về một vài thay đổi.
93
Okay.
Được rồi.
94
I just wanted to say,
Tôi chỉ muốn nói rằng,
95
I think or I believe and then you say your I just wanted to say this dress isn't looking good on you.
Tôi nghĩ hay tôi tin rồi sau đó bạn nói rằng tôi chỉ muốn nói là chiếc váy này trông không đẹp trên bạn.
96
I believe this dress is not suiting you well.
Tôi nghĩ chiếc váy này không hợp với bạn lắm.
97
How about you wear that?
Thế còn việc bạn mặc bộ đó thì sao?
98
Sorry, but here's my point.
Xin lỗi, nhưng đây là ý kiến của tôi.
99
Maybe I'm wrong, but one thing to consider is, and you see the difference.
Có lẽ tôi sai, nhưng có một điều cần cân nhắc là, và bạn sẽ thấy được sự khác biệt.
100
Just a few changes to the starting of the sentence and the whole seriousness of the sentence is changed.
101
How other person is perceiving you, their perception changes with the starting of your sentence.
102
Sorry, but I think this might not work.
103
No, instead say, I don't think this will work.
104
Why are you sorry about unnecessary things?
105
Okay, it's the same thought, but completely different impact.
106
Confidence begins at the first word of your sentence.
107
Remember that.
108
If you've ever felt that people don't take you seriously, even though you're capable, the next habit is usually the real reason.
109
Most people never notice it.
110
So here's my point number two for you.
111
Silence sounds confident.
112
Fillers don't.
113
When people feel slightly nervous, they try to fill the silence.
114
They find silence very uncomfortable.
115
I'll show you a few words on the screen somewhere here.
116
Actually, basically, kind of, maybe,
117
you know, these words don't add any meaning.
118
They are absolutely useless.
119
Basically, why do we use basically so much?
120
It adds nothing to the sentence.
121
It's such a weak habit.
122
Get rid of it right now.
123
stop using basically.
124
It makes no sense.
125
Basically is a real word which should be used in proper places and shouldn't be thrown around.
126
Just like that.
127
Wherever you feel like, wherever there is silence and you want to fill the silence up, you use basically.
128
No need.
129
It just adds doubt.
130
It shows the other person that you are not confident about what you're speaking.
131
Silence, on the other hand, makes people uncomfortable, but not the person who's confident.
132
Silence doesn't make the person who's confident feel unsure or uncomfortable.
133
No, instead of filling the gap, just pause and continue.
134
A pause tells the listener, I'm choosing my words.
135
I know what I'm speaking and I'm taking my time.
136
Okay, I'll show you an example.
137
I basically think this is kind of a good idea actually.
138
You tell me, does this sentence sound confident to you?
139
How about you say, I think this is a good idea.
140
It's the same thought.
141
It's the same sentence.
142
I just removed some unnecessary words.
143
That's all I did.
144
And the impact of the sentence changed completely.
145
The pause did the work.
146
So if you take a pause, I think this is a good idea.
147
The pause will do the work.
148
Not extra words.
149
Pauses signal thinking.
150
There is no harm in pauses.
151
Fills signal insecurity.
152
Remember this.
153
There's one habit that quietly makes people doubt you.
154
Even when your English is correct, it's how you end your sentences.
155
And this is what brings me to my point number three, which is ending your sentences should be appropriate.
156
Don't leave them hanging.
157
Many people unknowingly turn statements into questions.
158
I finished the report.
159
We can do this tomorrow.
160
This upward tune.
161
We can do this tomorrow.
162
Why do you have to take it upward?
163
We can do this tomorrow.
164
Listen to the difference.
165
We can do this tomorrow.
166
We can do this tomorrow.
167
Which one would you choose if you're a confident person.
168
You're telling something.
169
We can do this tomorrow.
170
You don't have to take it upward as if you're asking for consent again.
171
The upward tone removes certainty.
172
Listen to this.
173
When your statement goes up, your authority goes down.
174
It tells the listener you're seeking approval.
175
End your sentence flat and complete.
176
No apology, no hesitation.
177
I'll send the email today.
178
I'll send the email today.
179
You see it?
180
It comes with practice.
181
Don't worry if you're making this mistake.
182
Happens to everybody.
183
No big deal.
184
Awareness is important.
185
If you're aware you're making this mistake and
186
that is why people at your office do not take you seriously
187
or they think they can discount you or they think your approval doesn't matter on things,
188
probably Finally, these are small changes that are waiting to take place in your heart, in your way you speak.
189
Same words, completely different confidence.
190
Confidence is not volume, always remember.
191
It's how you finish a sentence, okay?
192
Volume does not matter.
193
If this is already changing the way you hear your own English, subscribe to this channel to ensure you receive updates on better spoken English.
194
You'll notice these habits everywhere now since you're watching this.
195
If this feels hard, you're not broken, okay, let me say this clearly.
196
If this feels uncomfortable, that's normal.
197
These habits are learned early in classrooms,
198
in homes, in environments where we were taught to be polite to people, not powerful. So
199
if you recognize is yourself here oh this is what i
200
do oh my god i've been making this mistake you're not behind you're just becoming aware okay and
201
that is fantastic for you point number four is replace i
202
think with structure there are too many i think i think
203
i think happening typical particle i love the woman she's amazing she's beautiful she's outstanding in every way
204
but she uses too many I think.
205
I think, I think every single sentence starts with an I think.
206
It is not good.
207
Many capable people overuse one phrase.
208
I think is probably the most common one.
209
I think, I think this will work.
210
I think we should do this.
211
It sounds harmless.
212
Of course it is harmless, but overuse makes you sound unsure.
213
When you keep saying, I think, it sounds like you're still deciding even when you're not.
214
I think this will work.
215
The reason this will work is I think we should do this.
216
What matters here is, you see the difference?
217
I'll give you one more example.
218
Instead of I think this is a good strategy, just simply say this is a good strategy because it reduces risk.
219
Okay, just place your reason.
220
Point number five, over explaining weakens your presence.
221
oh my god i was such a culprit of this i used to do
222
that a lot a part of me somewhere still seeks validation
223
of others this is something i'm working on you know politeness is taught to us as little children
224
and it's good to be polite nothing against
225
that this video is not being anti-kind no no it's not
226
i don't want you to be rowdy i don't want you
227
to be arrogant no i just want you to be good to yourself.
228
Subconsciously, these habits are hurting you.
229
They are hurting your chances in life.
230
And that is why I'm making you aware through this content.
231
As a person, me, I do this.
232
I say something and then I feel that the other person hasn't understood.
233
And I would go on and on, explain, explain, explain.
234
And it's after a point, it starts to feel as if I'm seeking the approval,
235
as if I'm not even sure about what I'm talking or I don't believe in what I'm talking.
236
Or if they say yes, suddenly I'll feel relieved.
237
All of these things happen when you over explain.
238
Many intelligent people do this without realizing it.
239
They explain and then explain and explain again.
240
I'll give an example.
241
So yeah, I think this works because I tried it earlier and it kind of helped.
242
And what I mean is, now this one is an over explained sentence.
243
This approach works because I tested it and it gave good results
244
and I feel it might be helpful for us to blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
245
No. How about you say it differently and say, this approach works.
246
I've tested it.
247
Simple.
248
Notice what changed.
249
Not confidence.
250
The trust in the statement completely changed.
251
You used minimal words.
252
Overexplaining is completely avoided and the person listening to you will trust you more.
253
Imagine a doctor talking about a therapy
254
that they're going to be trying on you and they go on and on and on and they blabber like fools.
255
Will you be able to trust that doctor or
256
if there is a doctor who is confident and speaks in the minimum possible words, gives you confidence and moves on with their work.
257
Don't you feel you will trust that doctor more because you will feel, okay, I don't understand, but he knows what he's doing.
258
So I'll just go ahead with him.
259
So that's the thing.
260
That is the change of trust we're talking about.
261
The most confident person in the room usually speaks the least.
262
Always remember that.
263
Okay.
264
Moving on to point number six, use calm words, not emotional ones.
265
Emotional ones, they probably stem from your deep insecurities
266
and probably showcase how you feel and they are better at portraying your emotions.
267
But calm words are more important.
268
They make you sound somebody who has authority.
269
Sound like one of those.
270
Many people confuse confidence with intensity.
271
But confident speakers sound calm, not emotional.
272
Emotional words don't make you sound strong.
273
No, they don't.
274
They make you sound reactive.
275
Words like amazing, terrible, very, extremely, really.
276
These words, they definitely do add feeling, but they reduce authority.
277
So should we completely eliminate them?
278
No, you can't.
279
It's the way you talk.
280
I'm not asking you to completely get rid of them.
281
I'm just asking you to limit them.
282
Use them, but not too frequently.
283
What matters is intentionality.
284
These words should come from intention and shouldn't again become filler words for you.
285
Be intentional with your tone.
286
Be intentional with your words.
287
Be stingy on choosing words that undermine your authority.
288
Stingy is conduce.
289
Okay.
290
Be stingy on using words, on choosing words that bring your authority down.
291
Undermining is bringing it down.
292
You can't completely do without them.
293
I get it.
294
I understand.
295
Even I use them.
296
But you can be more aware and use them less often.
297
The awareness alone changes how you sound.
298
Okay.
299
Confident speakers use neutral, grounded words instead of emotional words.
300
They choose calm ones like effective or unnecessary, appropriate, sufficient, reasonable.
301
See the difference?
302
This is extremely bad.
303
This is unnecessary.
304
See the difference here?
305
That is what I'm talking about.
306
Instead of bringing emotion into everything, oh my God, this is extremely bad.
307
Just simply say, this is unnecessary, not extremely bad.
308
Don't force your opinions on everything.
309
It's the same message, very different presence.
310
Emotion pulls attention to how you feel and calmness, it pulls attention to what you're saying.
311
And we're talking about becoming confident in the way we speak.
312
Confidence doesn't sound excited.
313
Okay.
314
Confidence is calmness.
315
I know who I am.
316
I know what I can do.
317
I know my business.
318
I know why I am here.
319
Okay, it sounds settled, not excited.
320
Sometimes, okay, but we're talking business here, right?
321
We're not talking about daily regular life, the way you're behaving with your family or your friends.
322
We're talking about business, the real world of money, relationships that are transactional.
323
And there's no harm by the way.
324
You will always have relationships that are purely transactional.
325
There's no harm in that.
326
You will have relationships that bring you happiness and then you'll have relationships that bring you work, that bring you growth, that bring you progress in life.
327
It's okay.
328
We've got to maintain a balance between the two.
329
Point number seven, the last one and probably the most important one on the list.
330
Stop putting yourself down even as a joke.
331
Many people weaken their confidence before anyone else gets the chance to.
332
They do it casually.
333
They do it jokingly.
334
My English isn't great but I'm not very smart but I might be wrong but
335
these lines they don't make you sound humble please get out of
336
that thinking they make people lower their expectations of you we don't want

346
You get my point?
347
Talking about yourself as if it's okay to laugh about you

354
Oh, my English is very weak.
355
Don't tell them because they will use it against you one day, whenever it is comfortable or convenient for them.
356
And you won't like it that day.
357
Stop talking about your flaws like that.
358
It is not making you sound humble.
359
It's not making you a good person.
360
No, it's making you foolish.
361
Let's not be foolish.
362
Let's be smart.
363
Okay.
364
It's about sounding settled.
365
It's about sounding calmer, relaxed, not excited.
366
We don't want to be perfect all the time.
367
We just want to be calm.
368
We want to bring that presence with us where people can trust us.
369
People should think, people who are working with us, they should think that I'm a person who can be trusted upon with a harder task.
370
And that is how you grow in life, right?
371
It's how you start a sentence, how you pause, how you end it, and how much you trust your own words.
372
You don't need new vocabulary.
373
You need simple new habits.
374
Start with one habit today.
375
Pick one today.
376
Choose another tomorrow.
