1
Once we understand how to change our self-concept,
2
we can change everything about our lives too.
3
Hello my loves, welcome back to my channel.
4
If you're new, I'm Leroy Alexandra.
5
Welcome to the bee community.
6
On this channel, we talk about the law of attraction,
7
spirituality, personal development, and so much more.
8
And today my loves, I want to talk about something
9
that I have talked about in the past for sure under different names.
10
Originally, this is a Neville Goddard principle.
11
I've talked about this concept before
12
but I want to make a dedicated video to it
13
because self-concept is a lifelong journey and the reason why it's
14
so important is
15
because it truly determines how everything else in our lives is going to look the way
16
that we hold ourselves in what regard
17
and what esteem we see ourselves in is going to affect every other level
18
and stage of our lives and this is something
19
that I have to always go back to because I've noticed that when there's a particular challenge that comes up for me,
20
what really helps me in overcoming it is to return to my self-concept and to my understanding of myself,
21
how I see myself and how capable I find myself of overcoming whatever challenge it is.
22
And in the days where I feel like I can't overcome things,
23
it really comes down to my self-concept being off
24
and my belief about myself as a person who can't handle a lot of stress or a person who can't overcome things.
25
And I have to return to that and I have to come back to my true belief of myself,
26
which is I know that whatever I'm presented with is something
27
that is specifically prescribed for me to be able to go through.
28
In the same way that for you,
29
whatever you are dealt with,
30
whatever hands, whatever cards you are dealt,
31
is specifically prescribed for you because you are able to uniquely overcome it.
32
So that's what I want to talk about today in regards to self-concept
33
and also social media and what creating our self-concept through too much stimulation is doing to us
34
and what we should do instead.
35
But before we get into today's video,
36
a quick word from our sponsor.
37

47
I put this in the cart?
48

69
which is what I like to do.
70

75
Thank you, Hungry Root, for sponsoring today's video.
76
So what is self-concept?
77
In essence, self-concept is how we see ourselves.
78
It's also our understanding of the world and how the world sees and accepts us.
79
It's our mental image of ourselves,
80
and that creates our identity,
81
or at least what we believe our identity to be.
82
And the reason why this is so important is because whatever beliefs you hold about yourself
83
are going to be projected onto the blank screen of reality and creating what you see in your external reality.
84
So whatever you believe about yourself internally will be reflected and will show up in your life externally.
85
So if you see yourself as somebody who is lovable,
86
you will experience a lot of lovable experiences in your life, right?
87
People will treat you as if you are worthy of love.
88
If you see yourself as unworthy or undeserving of being loved,
89
you will experience that as well.
90
Now, as adults, as autonomous beings,
91
this is truly under our control,
92
especially once we get this specific information.
93
Well, when we were children,
94
this was not under our control.
95
And the reason for that is because from the ages of 1 through 7,
96
sometimes even up to 12,
97
children primarily oscillate between the brainwave stages of alpha and theta,
98
sometimes coming into reality which is beta and in the alpha
99
and theta stages we are like sponges right
100
so how I like to explain it is the triangle of deception we are programmed we are indoctrinated
101
and we are domesticated by church,
102
state, friends, family, neighbors, classmates,
103
teachers, society, social media and all these different things
104
and we are taught to perceive the world in one way to perceive ourselves in a specific way.
105
So our self-concept is essentially created for us when we are children.
106
So if you've not done any work with your self-concept or with your beliefs about yourself,
107
then you are likely living out a personality and a paradigm that you never chose yourself.
108
So as an adult or as a young adult or a fully autonomous being at whatever age,
109
you can take your power into your own hands by recreating your own self-concept.
110
So this is a process of analyzing what it is that you believe yourself to be in all areas of your life.
111
Are you deserving of love?
112
Are you attractive?
113
Are you intelligent?
114
Are you creative?
115
Do you like certain types of people?
116
Do you not like certain types?
117
What are your likes and what are your dislikes?
118
For most of us until we start to really start to review ourselves We are not aware
119
that what we have become is an amalgamation of the voices
120
and the noise around us and having a really strong self-concept is knowing yourself
121
and Uncovering and exploring who you really are
122
Figuring out what it is that you like and what you don't like
123
and what you truly believe With everything unraveled right with all of societal expectations
124
culture everything that you've learned being unraveled right now in our modern times in 2023
125
when i'm recording this there is so much stimulation and
126
so much content that we are constantly consuming
127
and it's all about be this girl be this kind of
128
guy look like this think like this eat like this dress
129
like this be this person take these photos go to these places and then where
130
does your individuality and your unique expression where does that fall
131
because what happens is that we are constantly submerged
132
and basically attacked all day long by all this stimulation all these things
133
that are creating layers of on top of our already created personality
134
and self-concept so suddenly we're scrolling through instagram
135
and we're we're looking at somebody's stories or looking at somebody's feed or real or tick tock,
136
even if we're not conscious of it, we're constantly comparing ourselves.
137
Let's say that there's somebody who is conventionally attractive,
138
something that you would see in a magazine.
139
Not all of us can find ourselves represented in it still.
140
Right.
141
So you're looking at a conventionally beautiful person.
142
And even if you're not consciously aware of it,
143
you are comparing yourself moment by moment by moment.
144
And once you're done with this person,
145
you keep scrolling and you go to the next thing.
146
And this person is in Hawaii.
147
And that person is getting their million subscriber plaque on YouTube, right?
148
Or a million subscribers or followers on TikTok.
149
And even if you're not aware of it,
150
you're still comparing yourself to all these things.
151
This is gnawing away at your self-concept and it's wearing down your identity and your self-esteem.
152
So how do we reclaim our natural nature?
153
And the reason why I think we need to reclaim it is because we were perfectly created.
154
There was nothing wrong with us.
155
The way that the creator put us here on earth is exactly the blueprint
156
and the frame that we are supposed to carry through this life.
157
Whether it is keeping our cultural noses,
158
our strong bodies, our curly hair,
159
our red hair, our silky hair,
160
whatever skin color we have,
161
whatever it is, we have to reclaim the things that truly make us us.
162
and it's not necessarily these external characteristics because that's not what makes us us
163
but like who is underneath all the programming and all the the content
164
that we've consumed who are we really and remembering
165
that we are made these unique beautiful expressions of the divine in whatever bodies we were given
166
and the soul is what really matters our soul is what wants to be seen the comparison
167
or the constantly trying to emulate the things
168
that we see online is only hurting us
169
because truly the code to success to happiness to fulfillment to joy to transcendence
170
that exists in our unique self and so that exists
171
when you turn everything off
172
and you turn to yourself you start asking yourself well what
173
do i like what am i interested in what are my thoughts in my opinions,
174
not ones affected by everything else.
175
So we start to consume less content,
176
start to unravel everything that we are not so we can finally explore what we actually might be.
177
And don't get me wrong,
178
it's beautiful to be inspired by people.
179
I find a lot of inspiration from people online and in my external reality.
180
But I have to do what makes me feel right internally.
181
And this is not exclusive to social media.
182
I share this story a lot.
183
I had a best friend my whole I trusted her opinion
184
so much over my own opinion that I would not date certain people
185
if I found them attractive but she didn't because I didn't trust myself and because I didn't trust myself
186
My dating life looks way different than it should have
187
because maybe I would have made better decisions Maybe I would have made better choices
188
if I had listened to myself and not allowed somebody else's validation to take over my own
189
So I had a weak self-concept and that can play out in many different areas of our life.
190
You might be dating and things aren't working out and you're dating different people but the same thing keeps happening.
191
Almost as if you haven't learned your lesson so you keep experiencing this cycle again and again.
192
Well that might mean that you need to take a look at your self-concept.
193
How do you see yourself?
194
What do you find yourself worthy of?
195
What we'll often find is without putting any blame or shame on ourselves,
196
it's that we are emitting some sort of frequency that is beginning these cyclical situations, right?
197
And we have to change what we believe about ourselves.
198
So we consume less, we get to know ourselves more,
199
we consider what beliefs we hold about ourselves,
200
and this is the most important thing.
201
Whatever you say, I am to,
202
whatever comes after I am for you,
203
is how you reveal your self-concept and what you believe about yourself.
204
And you're going to say this out loud through your conversations with others,
205
you're texting your friends and you're like, oh, I'm so stupid.
206
That is your self-concept.
207
And it's so much easier and so much more comfortable for the world
208
if you do believe yourself be stupid and ugly and poor.
209
It makes people uncomfortable if you believe yourself to be beautiful and worthwhile and wealthy and healthy and capable.
210
It makes people uncomfortable at first
211
and then you become a permission slip for everybody else just like how you've been inspired by others.
212
You begin to inspire everybody else to also allow themselves to be,
213
to have a stronger self-concept.
214
And once you return to your I am's and realize what it is you're declaring to the quantum realm?
215
What are you saying to the to the universe that you are?
216
What are you telling the creator?
217
This is what I am.
218
This is what I expect.
219
And if those things are negative,
220
you're going to see a negative external reality.
221
And if those things are positive,
222
you're going to see your life change.
223
And that lucky girl syndrome that everybody talks about,
224
that's going to come to you if you have a strong self-concept.
225
A really good example of this in my own life that I've shared before,
226
I think, is that I had a self-concept for many,
227
many years that I was an outcast.
228
I was weird.
229
I was different.
230
And because of that, I'm not going to find somebody who is going to fit me.
231
I'm not going to find somebody who gets me.
232
It's too hard.
233
Or maybe people don't, you know,
234
people in my community in real life,
235
maybe they don't want to be around me because I'm weird.
236
I'm the weird girl.
237
And then I realized that that self-concept is something that I inherited,
238
that I grew up with because it's something that I heard when I was a little kid.
239
Because I was a little bit of a weird little kid.
240
I would talk to the wind and the fairies and all that.
241
But I know that I'm not alone in that.
242
And, you know, sometimes the kids who do that end up being the coolest kids.
243
And so I carried for years a self-concept of being weird
244
and being afraid that I was making people uncomfortable by my weirdness until one day I looked around and I was like,
245
wait, I created this incredible life for myself.
246
I have a community of
247
600,000 people around the world and my thoughts are helping people and who I am Authentically is helping people.
248
This isn't weird.
249
I'm unique I'm different and thank God for that because
250
if I was normal if I kept trying to stay normal like I did
251
when I was a teenager I tried to stay in line with what was the status quo
252
And perhaps I wouldn't be as effective at what I'm doing
253
and that goes back to that secret code Once you accept yourself and once you trust yourself,
254
you're going to be a force to be reckoned with.
255
So that's my little spiel about self-concept.
256
I hope it was enlightening for you.
257
I hope that it touched a place that needed to be touched
258
and I hope that you change your self-concept of being one of the weird kids like me
259
and to being one of the taste makers.
260
The weirdest people are the ones who start the most interesting trends and who shift the paradigm.
261
Tell me what your old self concept was,
262
where it came from, and what the new one is.
263
I want to know.
