跟读练习: For those feeling behind in life - 通过视频学习英语口语

1
Somewhere between childhood and now, we learned how to measure our lives in milestones.
2
First day of school, last day of school, first job, first promotion, marriage, house, kids, you know the list.
3
And it can feel really overwhelming when we're not ticking those boxes when we're supposed to.
4
It can feel like everyone is moving forward and we're just falling behind.
5
Recently, I've been thinking a lot about how we define success
6
and what that looks like now versus what I thought it would look like a couple years ago.
7
And it made me realize that this is something I should probably revisit every so often because as life changes,
8
the way we measure it sort of has to change too.
9
So there's that anyways i'm having family over tomorrow
10
and i'm pretty excited it's our first big family gathering in a
11
while i have a couple of things
12
that i need to get done today before that happens um it's a
13
that is a plan that is the plan for today i try so hard to grow
14
like a flower out of concrete And I,
15
I try so hard for you to know that I go for you,
16
my love
17
This train of thought first happened
18
when I was thinking of ways I had measured progress throughout my life When I was a kid, I did sports.
19
I would measure it by medals or moving up in lessons But after graduating, I stepped away from competing,
20
and I was at a sudden loss as to why I felt the way that I did.
21
And at the time, I didn't realize that I had lost the main indicator of my measure of progress, and subsequently, success.
22
It got me thinking, maybe all of us have these markers we lean on without even noticing.
23
And when they disappear, it can feel like the ground has shifted beneath us.
24
But realizing this allowed me to look at things differently, and reevaluate what progress and success look like now, in relevance to my life currently.
25
If you keep measuring your current life with a definition you picked up at 16 or 21, it's going to feel like you're falling behind, even when you're not.
26
So when things start to feel off, it's easy to assume something's wrong, without realizing the definition you're using might just be outdated.
27
Oftentimes we feel behind because we're not where we think we should be at this point in time.
28
But what we don't see is that where we're at now is preparing us for what's ahead.
29
making your own way in the world is exciting you know what you want and you're going for it
30
but when everyone around you seems to be following a clear -cut path it's really hard not to wonder
31
if you're the one doing something wrong
32
I remember in the early years of pursuing YouTube I was always wondering why it just wasn't happening for me yet.
33
It was frustrating and to add to my already growing doubt, I had friends that were already moving on with the next chapter of their life.
34
It felt like everyone knew their path
35
and I was still trying to find my way
36
but there was something in me that wanted to stay the course and so I pursued the path and looking back now,
37
everything I learned along the way was so necessary and contributed in some form to what I do today, even if it felt like a detour at the time.
38
The more I think about it, the more I think that 8 billion people can't be on the same path, right?
39
Like how would that work?
40
We're all different, we can't all like the same things, or hit the same milestones at the same time.
41
Some get married young, some never want to at all, others become nomads and call the world home, some are happy building a quiet life as hometown heroes.
42
You're allowed to choose your own adventure.
43
Not just once, but over and over and over again.
44
I find that we often feel behind because we have this idea of how something should have been.
45
But seldom does it happen like that.
46
And I think that's where a lot of the doubt comes from.
47
Not knowing whether we're stuck, or just standing at the edge of a new idea of what success looks like.

视频中存在不少连读和弱读现象,比如“sort of has to”中“sort of”连读为/ˈsɔːrtəv/,“has to”弱读为/hæz tə/;“moving forward”中“moving”和“forward”连读为/ˈmuːvɪŋ ˈfɔːrwərd/。此外,“I try so hard”中的“so”弱读为/səʊ/,而非重读的/səʊ/。这些发音细节能让你的口语更接近母语者,通过shadow speak练习,你能快速掌握这些技巧。

像母语者一样表达

模仿视频中说话者的节奏和重音是关键。比如“Somewhere between childhood and now”中,“Somewhere”和“now”需要重读,突出时间跨度;“it can feel really overwhelming”中,“really”和“overwhelming”重读,强调情绪的强烈。
