1
Oh, that is a little bit unnerving.
2
Today, we'll be ascending one of the most iconic and notorious climbs in all of America, Forbidden Peak's West Ridge.
3
With the beautiful approach on the lower mountain, climbing the knife -edge ridge to the summit, and getting caught in a storm on the descent,
4
this ended up being one of the most wild days of climbing I've ever had. So enjoy.
5
We can get down.
6
Justin and I are here at the trailhead.
7
It is our first climb together since Mount Everest, where we both got beaten up pretty badly.
8
Forbidden, be nicer to us, please.
9
Yeah, Forbidden Peak today.
10
So excited to get on this route.
11
This is going to be awesome.
12
Really going to be testing the technical capabilities here today.
13
But we're feeling good.
14
As you can see on the road here at the trailhead, we got some giant peaks such as Johannesburg right here,
15
just greeting us into the mountains beautiful views here a lot of glaciers around
16
and we got this bushy looking trailhead to start no
17
i don't want a bush back our journey to forbidden peak right here
18
but yeah we are excited justin
19
and i actually tried this together last fall oh it is bushy in here
20
but uh we ended up getting like rained out it was actually freezing rain we
21
We couldn't climb it, but now we're back to give it another go.
22
It's going to be sweet.
23
Our journey today starts in the trees, which because of how remote this climb is, are rather bushy.
24
Our current goal is to hike above treeline and enter the Boston Basin, which will give us great views of Forbidden Peak
25
and allow us to make a strategy for how exactly we'll get to the top.
26
So we're going to keep working up through these trees, come out to the left, get into Boston Basin, which is right here,
27
and that's going to put us right beneath
28
Forbidden Peak which is that super awesome looking ridge that goes up and down.
29
We're just going to take it nice and slow getting out of these trees because it is a big day.
30
Most people will camp and do this mountain over two days,
31
maybe even three days, but we're just trying to send it in one big car to car.
32
Oh, another big boy.
33
Not a bad place to be a banana slug.
34
Get off the helmet camp hoodie.
35
Two hands are climbing.
36
Oh my goodness.
37
This is heavenly.
38
Look how green it is.
39
It's still kind of early season.
40
Oh my gosh, that's not a frolic here.
41
And of course you have forbidden right there.
42
So you can actually see we're going to take up a little section called cat scratch goalie.
43
Once we get to the snow, that's going to bring us to this notch right here.
44
And then we're going to shoot up the skyline on the left.
45
But first, we need to get through Boston Basin.
46
The dopamine has kicked in.
47
Dude, I just got such an energy boost.
48
Yeah, that was big.
49
Big, big happy chemical moments.
50
All right, so Justin, you are a mountain guide.
51
as you can see on your shirt skyline mountain guides you can all book a trip with them
52
if you're trying against mountaineering he just told an interesting piece of information something he looks for a lot
53
while he's out climbing you don't want to get caught in a storm
54
while you're out in the alpine for sure
55
so explain to us what you've noticed yeah
56
so in the sky we have some serious clouds building up high which is a sign of like a pre
57
prefrontal so like a system is likely coming in and we see
58
that in the forecast like the next five days starting tomorrow it's gonna be storming
59
There was just a bear right there
60
Now Justin is walking towards the bear
61
Hi bear Now we just got to approach it like we're friendly
62
Yeah, he's a chiller
63
Oh I don't think you're supposed to follow him.
64
That wasn't a bear, wasn't it?
65
That was a crazy night.
66
That is literally a brown bear.
67
That is barbaric, my friend.
68
That's crazy.
69
I have never seen a bear up here.
70
Me neither.
71
I've never even seen a bear in Washington.
72
Don't worry, we're just some dirtbags passing through.
73
Mr. Bear, we can see your butt.
74
That's so funny.
75
Now that we have broken above treeline and are nearing the Boston Basin, we seemingly have entered wild territory.
76
From the Boston Basin, we're going to need to do some serious assessments of how to get on the ridge to the summit,
77
as conditions change throughout the year and we'll need to figure out the best routes.
78
Alright, so we've just been moving up all the snow fields here,
79
catching some elevation gain and I gotta tell you guys there's the most spectacular toilet of all time up here.
80
Usually people will do the push in a couple days like I said
81
and they'll camp somewhere around here in the Boston Basin before pushing up for the summit
82
but there is indeed a toilet and Justin Justin had to go so bad
83
Bro's pack is dropped right here
84
So when Justin and I actually tried this like last September or so I did in fact use it
85
But I'm really frustrated because I don't need to go
86
And I actually
87
Want to use it
88
You just have toilet right there
89
And you got two goats Chillin That's crazy
90
It looks like a spaceship
91
It's crazy
92
literal perfect spot that you can go right there oh now they're running away darn it
93
but they were just chilling oh my gosh they're so strong
94
so now we're just slogging through the snow here
95
and we're gonna work up through all these slabs snow fields for a bit and then wow yeah
96
so right here is the cat scratch goalies we got to get up to
97
that that's where we're gonna throw on the helmet, start climbing, and access the ridge.
98
So now we were ascending up above the Boston Basin and working our way towards the base of Forbidden Peak.
99
From the base, a section called the Cat Scratch Gullies should provide us with safe enough passage to gain the west ridge,
100
and then we can make our way up to the summits.
101
So further ahead on the route, we were able to see two other climbers that started going up cat scratch gully.
102
But then like 10 minutes later, we saw that they were bailing.
103
We should be seeing them momentarily to see what's going on.
104
But we got some gear.
105
We can maybe work our way up it regardless.
106
We'll check it out anyway.
107
But definitely interesting.
108
So on Justin and I's left here is a massive snow debris field from a wet glide avalanche.
109
As the temps warm up and water starts to melt beneath all of the snow,
110
the snow can literally slip away in massive chunks over the rock and cause all of these formations.
111
Dang, this is kind of scary.
112
Yeah.
113
Oh, this is so whack to navigate through.
114
Yeah, look at this.
115
Holes all the way down there.
116
Dude, these are gigantic.
117
Yeah.
118
That's wild.
119
There's a whole winter snowpack right there.
120
I think that's how much it snowed this one in Washington.
121
And more, because a lot of it's melted already.
122
Yeah.
123
So it basically just slid on that water there, that rock.
124
Yeah.
125
As we are approaching the base of Forbidden Peak, we can see further up ahead the Cat Scratch Gullies,
126
which we will take to the beginning of the summit's ridge.
127
We're also able to see the two other climbers we saw earlier who were bailing,
128
so now is a good time to get some information on the conditions.
129
But yeah this is looking pretty gargantuan.
130
Heck yeah.
131
Yo what up?
132
Yeah.
133
Bad rock fall in there?
134
Really bad.
135
We were in the Kuar and there were some big ones coming down.
136
Oh, we got
137
Josh and Noah here absolute crushers out here getting after having a good time in the mountains
138
Yeah, okay, so I guess there's some rock fall on the couloir
139
But we're taking a goalie, so maybe it'll be better, but we'll We'll feel it out once we get in there,
140
but I guess the only way to find out for ourselves is To get up in here.
141
There's actually two other people who apparently summited and are coming down now
142
So it does seem like a ghost.
143
Fortunately, these big scary clouds have missed us.
144
We're going to have some nice blue skies from here on out, it seems.
145
Getting up there.
146
Come on.
147
Got to navigate through some wacky terrain right here.
148
What the heck happened?
149
Like, all the glacier or snow has been like.. a glacier that's all broken up
150
and we have to get through this now.
151
Like what the heck?
152
This is actual kumbu icefall behavior.
153
Current problem is we have this giant moat here separating us onto our path up onto the rocks.
154
You're gonna jump for that big one?
155
You can maybe like dig your axe into it.
156
Oh.
157
Nice.
158
Foot out left.
159
Nice.
160
Walking along the giant snow patch.
161
Ah.
162
Now we are in the Alpine bro.
163
Literally came up all the way from down there.
164
Up all the snow.
165
And now we have made it.
166
Pretty much the base of the climbing route here these guys are descending here right now through this cool eye
167
but we're gonna go up this
168
and then keep ascending all this rock here until we get on the base
169
this is the cat scratch goalie right here
170
so obviously gonna get a little spicy
171
we're gonna want to get the gear on forbidden peak right behind us looking gigantic all right
172
you know the drill helmets on for mom also guys
173
I have an embarrassing confession every time I have traveled internationally to climb.
174
I'm still on my mom's phone bill.
175
She still pays my phone bills.
176
Yeah, she got feed like pretty bad when I was just in Nepal
177
and I didn't know like you could avoid that if you use eSIMs and one eSIM that sponsored this video was Saley.
178
Now from now on I'm going to be definitely using Saley whenever I go on any of my climbs.
179
It's a super easy app that you can install
180
and you basically can get a phone plan wherever you're going in the world and prepare for it in advance.
181
So let's say I'm going to Nepal.
182
I can get a phone plan in Nepal before I even get there
183
so I don't have to worry about figuring that out at the airport or anything.
184
And once I get there, I'll have service and I won't get my mom mad at me because I make her pay a bunch of fees.
185
You can actually use the code RyanDeal at checkout for a discount.
186
And yeah, you can save yourself some money.
187
You can make your travel a whole lot easier if you use an eSIM like Saley.
188
So thank you, Saley.
189
Now we're going to begin climbing up this gigantic mountain.
190
Oh no. It's just a test.
191
Oh, yeah.
192
That's what it said at the start.
193
We got an EF5 tornado coming in on us right now.
194
EF5 tornado.
195
Oh no. Okay, well, we're going to walk up the ridge here, get to the goalie right there,
196
and start working up to the summit. But, yeah.
197
That's our new friend talking to us.
198
Dig it in.
199
A little bit of a fall hazard here.
200
You wouldn't want to take a spill down there.
201
We're just trying to get into this goalie.
202
So are you just going to go snow and then into the rock?
203
Yeah, I'll probably belay you from the moat.
204
So I'll go into the gap between the snow and the rock.
205
Gotcha.
206
Or you could just take it all away.
207
I could boost it to an anchor.
208
Yeah, why not?
209
That would probably be better.
210
That's a good idea.
211
see right now i'm just feeding justin out this just enough slack in the rope so
212
if he falls he's only gonna fall as much as i
213
fed out to him all right justin has just made
214
it up the first pitch here oh you can see him up there
215
so cool he's put me on belay so he led
216
that route now i'm just following i'm nice
217
and safe he's got something up there holding me so it was now time to enter the Cat Scratch Gullies,
218
which is going to be the first of many actual climbs we'll end up doing today.
219
We're going to need to be very careful in here, as there is a lot of loose rock and dirt, but once we top out,
220
we'll finally be able to access the West Ridge and make our way up to the summits.
221
Here I come, Justin.
222
Ooh, that's alpine granite, bruh.
223
the cat scratch goalies don't mess around yeah they are pretty dry
224
the person down there said it gets a little wet up higher but
225
there he is yeah we just come up this goalie here alpine climbing in the cascades this is so sick
226
this is fun fun climbing indeed
227
oh let's go nice lead on
228
that come on nice lead thank you sick all right
229
we just came up the cat scratch goalie i think my camera is pointed down for a little bit
230
so i might not have gotten too much footage
231
but we're just getting started
232
so for those who don't know i'm about to climb first switch means I can't fall
233
and I have to place gear to protect me so
234
if I did fall I would be okay
235
so we're gonna be going into this goalie want to keep an eye out for any rock fall of course
236
we're gonna be moving up more towards the left
237
but yes now we are going to be keeping an eye out for places
238
that we can put some gear in for protection
239
yeah there's not not not a lot too much gear in the gully not a lot
240
so when you see a good crack use it you know yeah yeah
241
so yep we got a little crack right here now we're going to use these things called cams
242
which are these pieces of metal gear that slot right into the rock
243
and they're going to hold us in the event of a fall so we got a nice
244
little little little sussy sounding but we'll take what we can get for this first part
245
because there's not a lot of pro
246
so now we are on belay we got a piece of gear in the rock
247
that maybe will hold
248
but you know what gives me a little bit more confidence oh okay
249
that's the sauce we got like a death block right here it's like some of this is like brittle yeah
250
so really really gotta be careful yeah yeah America sauce yeah it's pretty solid I
251
think I'll be this is not a very good crack unfortunately
252
so I don't really trust any of this gear but that's why we do not want to fall there we go
253
nice definitely did not want to fall there oh yeah like see this like just freaking random rocks
254
But dang, dude, alpine climbing up here.
255
This is so fun.
256
All right, now we're gonna do what Justin did to us the first pitch.
257
We're gonna pull up all that slack and then he's gonna follow up on the same route.
258
That rope getting dirty today.
259
So yeah, Justin's going up again through the cat scratch gully.
260
We should have another view of Forbidden Peak soon.
261
Alrighty, Justin has made it up this third pitch up this cat scratch gully.
262
We're gonna try to get up this nice and quick
263
so we can get a move on onto the ridge so we're not out here for too long.
264
This is all really just like dirty choss so
265
Might as well try to get through it as fast as we can.
266
What a cool little goalie though.
267
Sections kind of whack at the crux of this section.
268
Yikes.
269
All right, let's start collecting these pieces.
270
So we have them for the next pitch.
271
Careful, everything I'm kinda, you just stay there.
272
It's all, it's all loose.
273
You'll just boost it all the way to the, like just below the snow
274
and blame you up on okay cool whatever even a hip blade just below the snow sure three pitches
275
so far pretty quickly we have one more pitch here then we'll be out of the cat scratch thank goodness it's
276
whack in here and then we'll be nearing the uh actual route
277
and ridge so moving good
278
so far nice work cruising looking good on weather still still moving in a favorable direction yeah
279
i'm just gonna move up through here looks pretty low angle
280
so that's nice very good and we'll get some snow we'll blade justin up
281
and then walk to the base of the ridge come on
282
let's get out of the catch scratch oh my gosh sussy like holy sauce this is painlessly steep brutal yeah nice
283
okay all right now we got one piece in so we don't take a tumble down the deathly gully
284
lock in here a little bit wet in here protect the crux all right okay mr one you got me don't you
285
wait a little weird I'm scared.
286
Sometimes you just gotta work through it a little.
287
Okay, not bad.
288
So I want to give a hip away here for efficiency.
289
I'm feeling pretty good about this spot here.
290
and yeah we're using our body as friction right now to bring him up
291
so if he fell he would fall on my hips
292
and then i can use my feet to press into the rock and
293
that would keep him attached to me
294
it does look like it's raining over there that's kind of weird you can roast me i'm prepared i'm good
295
so on my end i'm backed up to this ice axe and then on your end it's coming around me
296
nice let's say the ice axe is yeah it's a little bit sus yeah it's not fully in there
297
because it's hard to get it in because it's like a slope yeah shallow
298
but good job but i feel pretty secure here
299
so yeah i mean that's a good stance as it is all right
300
we have moved up out of the cat scratch gully blade just up
301
there he is now getting the rope set up for the next ascent
302
and we're going to be going up the snow right here, going through here, and then once we walk a little bit here,
303
we're on the ridge.
304
So this is all the west ridge of Forbidden Peak.
305
That is the summit up there, so we're just going to ride along this thing.
306
Alright, Justin has made it all the way up there.
307
Now we're going to start climbing up to him and we'll be basically at the base of the ridge.
308
Alright, now we shall traverse for all the snow.
309
Alright, let's get up to him.
310
Oh, the ridge!
311
Just right in front of us.
312
Oh my gosh.
313
That's crazy.
314
What?
315
Just the ridge.
316
Yeah.
317
and the whole other side of the mountain here.
318
What is that, Canada?
319
That was one hell of an approach.
320
Tons of pitches there.
321
Really fun slog up that snow.
322
And now we are so up here.
323
Came up the goalie here, and now the West Ridge is just right in front of us.
324
Literally the most iconic and classic routes in all of, honestly, America besides for Alaska.
325
Okay, so we got a little bit of drops of rain, so we're going to want to try to hustle through this.
326
We're going to simul climb, so we're both going to be climbing at the same time.
327
I'm just trying to get up there as fast as possible.
328
Ew, my feet look so gross.
329
Ew.
330
You got to watch until this part of the video to see this.
331
So now, we were officially on the west ridge of Forbidden Peak.
332
From here, the climbing is going to get more and more exposed as we get closer to the summit,
333
and hopefully we can make it there before bad weather comes in.
334
Alright, so pretty mellow to start with.
335
We got this airy jump.
336
It's kind of whack, actually.
337
We got climbing shoes now.
338
Moving fast.
339
Yeah, he's climbing with me.
340
let's get it we're climbing up the ridge together now we're gonna start looking for
341
something like right here act real fast get a piece in real quick why not bro we're moving fast
342
i feel like all the pitches leading up to this have just been like practice you know
343
and now we're like in the mindset just dialed come on man let's go
344
Oh, I got a little bit of slab here.
345
Let's just throw another piece in.
346
It's kind of an awkward crack.
347
Bomber, oh.
348
He's chasing me.
349
I gotta climb fast.
350
Oh, what an awesome climb.
351
Got crack system here for the hand jams.
352
Look at this, it just like, looks like it tops out.
353
Oh it's a really steep part here.
354
What we can do is get another piece in soon.
355
So we can drop down.. ooh voice crack.
356
We can drop down to the left or we can keep staying on the ridge.
357
Okay let's get a piece in here.
358
We don't like that.
359
That is a death block.
360
So you're just trying to keep two pieces in between us yeah?
361
I'd say one is good.
362
Like right now I've got the whole ridge between us.
363
Yeah.
364
If you fell I've got the rope around this huge boulder.
365
Nice.
366
Okay.
367
Come on.
368
Alright.
369
Pretty low class section here before it steepens out.
370
Wow.
371
Still got bits to go.
372
Alright.
373
Let's keep going.
374
Oh this is fun.
375
Little traverse.
376
I think I'm just in a flow state right now.
377
The Alex Honnold flow state.
378
Alright, so most likely, I want to keep the rope wrapped around this rock.
379
That works fine. And, ooh, damn.
380
This is a spicy, ah, move bro.
381
Okay.
382
And now, I think it's most, mmm.
383
We have it wrapped around that one, so we should try to get it around this.
384
Okay, nice.
385
So, back me up a little bit.
386
So, if I fell down into here, I wouldn't go too far.
387
Oh, damn.
388
This s* is airy, bro.
389
damn that's nuts
390
nice nice all right we're a couple hundred feet or so up the ridge we got justin back there
391
it's about to get a little steep here this is
392
so fun so far dude you're crushing it yes
393
and as you can see we're about to get onto some like really steep section here
394
so i'm gonna play some gear
395
kind of can choose your own adventure here huh yeah
396
i would step to the left yeah to the left that's a bit safer
397
but as you can see we can move through here back onto the ridge
398
and you can see the top all the way up there
399
so the hard moves are still to come but look at this we got canada I think got all these mountains.
400
Oh, El Dorado Peak.
401
Hi, El Dorado.
402
I climbed that a couple months ago.
403
All right, so likely fall off to the left, so we'll swing this.
404
It's a piece of pro.
405
Nice.
406
Very easy to use, like, mountain features like this when you're climbing.
407
It does add a little bit of drag, but I'll just keep in mind that I got a little bit of drag.
408
a little bit run out here so let's really walk in I see my next moves
409
Okay, now I'm safe.
410
Nice job.
411
Little saucy.
412
Dude, look it.
413
There's even a flower up here.
414
Life prevails even in the harshest of places.
415
Nice.
416
The old.
417
Sweet.
418
Okay.
419
Protected.
420
Got a decent amount of rope drag too.
421
Alright, I'm gonna put the rope over this I think.
422
Nice.
423
Cool.
424
Bruh, it literally looks like we're just climbing into the heavens.
425
It's wild.
426
Alright, foot here, one foot here.
427
epic look how far we've come up all the way down from that snow i can see our stuff
428
yeah we are yeah we are perfect
429
that's what i was looking for just a great placement like this dude this is
430
so fun I'm like thinking about afterwards how much of this am I going to include in the video
431
but I'm actually having such a good time on this ridge it's like perfect just flow state climbing up
432
because nothing is super it's like a puzzle trying to figure out what pieces to place like come on that's
433
so dope like look at
434
that gargantuan steepness right
435
there I feel like we're gonna get a really good view of the ridge once we get over this little slab here.
436
Ooh, honestly a little slabby here.
437
So you can see there just isn't a ton of places to hold or place your feet.
438
But we just gotta trust them anyway nice oh whack holds
439
nice oh there it is oh my gosh yeah
440
that is kind of crazy okay let's keep going let's clip
441
this bad boy all right we don't have much gear left so let's be mindful of that
442
what the f* you can either go down or you can stay on the ridge
443
i'm gonna do like a middle ground i think okay Okay.
444
Kind of right alongside.
445
Stay high.
446
Okay.
447
Dude, this is wild.
448
Look how exposed this is.
449
You can kind of just...
450
Oh, that is a little bit unnerving.
451
Okay, I think if I were to fall, I'm going to start trending this way.
452
So let's get the rope wrapped around this.
453
okay all right so i don't have to go for a film
454
that but i'd ran out of gear and justin has all the gear
455
so i had to wait for him to get back up here
456
basically made a nice little belay station around this rock
457
and i'm just bringing them in nice
458
and safely let's go dude you just let like 600 feet in 30 minutes let's go i'm hyped dude
459
that was so good.
460
He nailed that.
461
But yeah we got Justin up here and now we're gonna swap leads.
462
He has all the gear and he's gonna take us to the top.
463
So he's gonna move up through here.
464
This right here is the hardest move getting on top of this tower.
465
Let's get to the top before we even get a drip of rain on us.
466
There goes my hero.
467
Red man on the rocks.
468
To the left there's like a key jog for your left hand and that helps you step onto the slab.
469
So I just basically stay behind him and manage the system.
470
But dude, there's some rain coming in.
471
There is some rain coming in.
472
We're going to get up here nice and quick.
473
Our timing's looking good though.
474
I think we'll be able to beat them and get up here and down.
475
Or at least on the rappels.
476
Sweet.
477
This is the 5 .6, so crux being the hardest section of the route.
478
A lot of exposure.
479
Okay.
480
Let's see.
481
Damn, this is...
482
I wonder if I could go high and step up.
483
Oh yeah, that's the...
484
That was the beta.
485
There we go.
486
Wow.
487
Scary.
488
Okay.
489
Let's go! That was epic!
490
Look how steep that is!
491
Okay, this is a little bit slabby.
492
Let's move through it.
493
Feel okay on this.
494
Ooh, okay.
495
That was a little bit sketchy actually.
496
If I had fallen, yeah, I really just don't want to fall so Justin's letting me know that
497
if I do feel like I'm going to fall then I need to let him know.
498
Because if I fall, it's a generational epic fail.
499
Row climbs kind of fast though.
500
I'm trying to keep up with him while trying to maintain my composure.
501
so looks like those are the majority of the hard moves look steep
502
and now it's pretty mellow just a lot of knife edge to the top cool oh great foot jam
503
Ooh.
504
Little faults.
505
Let's get on this horn.
506
So now, because we have the rope around it, we can use it as a way to add friction to the rope.
507
So if I fell, it would.
508
Keep me up.
509
Whoa!
510
Okay.
511
Now we're good.
512
This is so...
513
Is that the summit right there?
514
Yeah.
515
You're not gonna like it.
516
I know.
517
It's gnarly.
518
Can't be as bad as Pumori though.
519
No, no. I don't think it will be. That sucked.
520
Pumori sucks because it's so snowy, but there's a down climb here.
521
It's just, hello Steve.
522
Oh, this one right here.
523
Yeah.
524
Oh shoot.
525
So I'll have you take us to the summit, dude.
526
Really?
527
Because I've got you on below here.
528
And dude, literally took us an hour.
529
Let's go.
530
Good job, dude.
531
We're just in a flow state.
532
All right, here we are hugging each other at this belay here.
533
Not a lot of space, but look at all that ridge we've just come up in only an hour.
534
That is so awesome.
535
We have blue skies behind us, but we got the dark deer in the center of the universe right now.
536
We got the scariness behind us, and then good over there.
537
The pressure systems are fighting for us right
538
now totally let's stay let's bring it home oh my gosh
539
you weren't kidding this is this is actually really what the bruv that's insane
540
that is nuts that is wild this is the you have to like down down mantle
541
and then hang on the jugs and then there is feet but you just can't see them yeah
542
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
543
It looks like, like it looks like if you saw this out of context, it looks like I'm just about to jump off of a cliff.
544
Just down.
545
Downward mantle.
546
Feet, feet don't fail me, no!
547
Feet don't fail me, no!
548
I'm getting caught.
549
There we go.
550
Nice knowing you, bro.
551
Oh!
552
Wow.
553
He's got a foot in here.
554
that was so nuts okay
555
the cams are getting caught on the rock they're like don't do it oh come on summit what a freaking day
556
Look at the green on the rocks.
557
Oh my gosh.
558
What a small, small little summit.
559
Yeah.
560
Let's go.
561
Let's go.
562
All right, we got to the summit, but this weather behind us is looking a little bit diabolical.
563
So we're going to bounce out of here.
564
No summit snack today.
565
We're just going to get the freak out of here, but let's go, dude.
566
Let's go.
567
Dude, good job.
568
But also, guys, Justin, absolute beast, has his own guiding service, Skyline Mountain Guide.
569
So if you want to get to mountaineering, you got to go with Skyline Mountain Guides.
570
They have the best trained guides by yours truly.
571
He's trained me.
572
I think I'm doing a pretty good job.
573
Dude, you did amazing today.
574
So yeah, make sure to book a trip.
575
Also, I completely forgot to mention that this entire video is recorded on the new GoPro.
576
You can use my affiliate code.
577
It's really good.
578
This whole video shot 4K30.
579
It also shoots 8K.
580
Absolutely cool product.
581
And you know, we're kidding in the north face.
582
Okay, I should have gotten those plugs in earlier, but now I forgot.
583
All right, back down we go.
584
That's another classic climb in the books.
585
We were fairly certain that we could make it to the summit in time before the weather came in,
586
but whether or not we'd get hit on the descent was still a question.
587
So for now, the goal is to stay as calm as possible
588
and make sure we do everything right while we down climb and soon rappel off of the west ridge to safety.
589
Alright, we're trying to go really fast here.
590
It's good we're at the rappel.
591
Justin needs to get off of that though before it starts.
592
We're feeling a little bit of precip.
593
Now we're gonna start repelling money.
594
I thought they were about to bust over some holly ideas, but they're still over there.
595
Yeah, we can get down.
596
Wearing for some trench foot though tonight
597
Damn Chill, chill, chill, okay?
598
Chill, we're leaving, we're leaving
599
It's not raining, you know
600
It's little snow cones
601
Find a good spot.
602
Hold on.
603
Alright.
604
Nice.
605
That storm system right there that just passed over us.
606
That was where the thunder was coming from so luckily it's past us.
607
Looks like there's still a little bit coming in our direction but we're almost at the bottom.
608
There it is, Forbidden Peak, amazing climb.
609
We got down without getting struck by lightning.
610
Let's go.
611
Let's go.
612
Now we just have a few more repels, not too bad.
613
Might get a little wet, but we're going to get on out of here.
614
Rope.
615
Money.
616
Money. Do it. Do it.
617
Do it it.
618
And here we are back at the trailhead.
619
That was Forbidden Peak, one of the most classic climbs in all of America.
620
Honestly, one of my favorite climbs I have ever done.
621
So everybody go check out Justin.
622
Shout out to him.
623
He's in the description.
624
And thank you all for watching.
