I'll give you lots of chances to speak out loud and to practise with me and the cool thing is we're also going to brush up on a little bit of grammar that you might need to use to talk about how regularly you do things in your daily routine.
11
When talking about our daily routines, we use the present simple tense.
12
I eat breakfast at 7am.
13
But adverbs of frequency can add more detail. They work perfectly to this and I can choose any of these ones to talk about how often I do something and that's why they're called adverbs of frequency. They show how often something happens or how often you do something.
14
Now for me, I would say No. I never eat breakfast at 7am.
15
That's a little too early for me. You try it.
16
I always have my coffee before breakfast.
17
So if you use always it means that you're doing that activity a hundred percent of the time, every time but as that frequency gets less and less, your adverb can change to usually, sometimes, rarely, hardly ever until you get to never which is zero per cent of the time.
18
Can you think of something you always do in the morning, what about something that you hardly ever do?
19
I want to hear about it down in the comments.
20

21

22

23
Now some of these activities are really common, most of us do them every morning like wake up, brush our teeth get dressed, go to work.
24
These are all things that happen pretty consistently.
25
So we'll practise using some adverbs that help to explain that.

43
Our work routine is probably quite different.
44
Maybe your day at work is really dynamic and it's always changing or perhaps it's pretty consistent and you do the same thing every day so you'll have to adapt this section to make it suit your workday.

真实场景:谈论日常作息
在英语学习中,谈论日常作息是最实用的场景之一。无论是与朋友分享生活,还是面试时介绍自己,清晰描述“早上做什么、工作时如何安排、晚上怎样放松”都至关重要。视频中通过具体例子,展示了如何用简单句和连接词构建完整的作息描述,让对话更自然。这也是看YouTube学英语的优势——从真实语境中学习实用表达。
必学实用短语与搭配
- 时间表达:“half-past six”(六点半)、“first thing in the morning”(一大早),替换单调的“6:30”或“early morning”,让表达更地道。
- 频率副词:“always”(总是)、“hardly ever”(几乎不),精准描述做事频率,比“every day”或“never”更生动。
- 顺序连接词:“before”(在…之前)、“after”(在…之后)、“then”(然后),轻松理清事件顺序,避免语无伦次。
- 日常活动搭配:“brush my teeth”(刷牙)、“go for a swim”(去游泳)、“check my emails”(查邮件),这些固定搭配是构建作息描述的基础。
|---|---|
| 现在完成时 have/has + 过去分词 — 过去发生但与现在仍有关联的事 | I've marked · we've been |
| 动词 + -ing enjoy、keep、stop… + -ing — 后接 -ing 形式的动词 | practise speaking · practise talking · start working |
| 用 “might / may” 表可能 might/may + 动词 — 有可能但不确定的事 | might need · might do |
| 现在进行时 am/is/are + -ing — 此刻或近期正在发生的事 | you're doing · I'm not giving · I'm not working |
