As an English learner, if you're not practicing your English or your expressions or whatever you're saying in connected speech,

then you will never ever ever sound natural and fluent.

I mean you will be fluent but you won't sound natural and if your goal is to sound like a native speaker,

then if you're not practicing with connected speech, forget about it, okay?

When we are talking like in your native language, for example,

you are connecting certain sounds to the point where the letter almost disappears or merges into another letter or somehow changes,

you know?

The same thing happens in English.

So when you're learning, you're learning the words separate one by one, but in speech, we don't use them one by one.

We put them in constructions, in groups.

So if you say, forget about it, forget about it, forget about it, you want to say every single T,

forget about it, then you won't sound natural.

But if you say forget about it, forget about it, I didn't forget about it, those T's disappear.

That's connected speech.

And the point is not to have an accent like a native speaker accent because it's fine.

You can speak English the way you like it.

As long as people understand you, you're fine.

You don't have to have like a perfect accent.

However, if that is your goal, the reason why you don't sound like a natural is because you're not using connected speech.
