Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the channel and today is the day after all the waiting, all the trauma, all the lies from Activision and everything else in between,
2
the Modern Warfare 4 beta is finally here.
3
I got to play for a little bit earlier today, so these are going to be my honest first impressions of the game, everything from the good to the bad,
4
even the downright ugly because there are some really ugly aspects of this game and they were immediately apparent, which really blew my mind.
5
Infinity Ward spent all this time and money showing us
6
that they apparently play their own game and they playtest every Friday and this, that, and the other.
7
But within your very first match of Modern Warfare 4, you're going to notice some glaring problems, which we will be going over, and that actually ties nicely into today's video's sponsors.
8
So after we hear a word from them, we're going to jump right into the video here.
9
This video is being brought to you by LIGOFAST.
10
LIGOFAST is back once again here on the channel because they're such an amazing service.
11
They helped me out a ton with Flakoff 7, and now that the Modern Warfare 4 beta is here, there's never been a better time to give them a try.
12
When beta's first dropped, connectivity is often horrendous.
13
Now, whether that's intentional or not is up for debate, but LagoFast can help you bypass all that nonsense.
14
What LagoFast does is it makes your entire gaming experience better, from optimizing routing between you and the game servers to eliminate lag, to allowing you to pick which game servers you actually connect to,
15
to even optimizing your PC for more FPS and less input delay.
16
LagoFast is your all-inclusive app to let you make the most out of the Modern Warfare 4 beta, as well as thousands of other games out there.
17
You can try them out for free with the link at the top of the description or in the pinned comment, and if you like what you see, you can purchase any of their plans, and using code NEROS, N-E-R-O-S,
18
will save you 30% on whichever plan you pick.
19
LagoFast is a proven service that can make your entire Modern Warfare 4 beta experience better, whether it's through optimizing your connection to avoid beta lag, or individually choosing the specific server you connect to,
20
it's the perfect service for any Call of Duty fans.
21
Once again, 30% off using code NEROS, and huge thanks to LagoFast for sponsoring this video.
22
Alrighty, thanks once again to LagoFast, I definitely think they're going to be needed with this game because the matchmaking is absolutely horrendous.
23
I don't think that surprises anybody, but that's all we've been covering lately, right?
24
There's been so much going on with it.
25
We had the rug pull.
26
We then had Activision coming out and saying how great the system is going for everybody.
27
And then they got community node.
28
We covered that in yesterday's video.
29
And then they started backpedaling on Twitter, like apologizing with this whole AI response.
30
It's just it's been a complete and utter shit show.
31
Let's actually call it what it is, right?
32
And the matchmaking is all anybody cares about when it comes to this game.
33
So here today, I want to show you guys exactly what it's like.
34
So start things off here.
35
They added game servers to the user interface.
36
Like when you search for a match, it will sometimes show you the available servers and your connection to them.
37
And after a bit, it's going to throw you into a game.
38
At first, I thought this was actually a great idea.
39
It's literally showing you the game server you're connecting to.
40
But that's really a double edged sword because I live in Pennsylvania, right?
41
So ideally, and I've used services like I go fast.
42
I've had like a NetDoomer router in the past and things like that.
43
So I've seen where I connect to, what my ping is of certain servers.
44
And I know the best servers for my particular connection.
45
For me, I like to connect to New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., like places around Pennsylvania.
46
You know, I live in the Northeast United States.
47
Well, here in the game itself, we can actually watch in real time as the matchmaking system tries to fuck me over.
48
Because instead of putting me in Northeastern servers, more than half the time I'm connecting to Central servers or sometimes even Southeastern servers down towards Tennessee or Florida.
49
Again, these are just my honest impressions.
50
So I will give credit where it's due.
51
The matchmaking time is faster here in the beta than what we've been seeing with Black Ops 7.
52
but we can actually watch in real time as the game connects you to sub-optimal servers.
53
It may say your connection is better to that server, but using services like VygoFast and everything else, I can already see my connection to these different servers.
54
My best ping, once again, is to New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., but instead, Modern Warfare 4 is throwing me into places like Chicago and Tampa,
55
which quite obviously is the skill part of their matchmaking taking over.
56
Once you're actually in the game, connection quality is usually pretty stable for the most part, but Packet Burst is definitely still a huge factor.
57
I'm going to try and show you some footage of exactly what it looks like.
58
It's almost like desync to the servers or something like that.
59
But interestingly enough, they completely removed the packet burst icons from the game.
60
If you've watched me play Black Ops 7, then you know I get that packet burst icon all the freaking time.
61
And just I don't know why that happens.
62
It's only a Call of Duty thing.
63
And I know that's happened to a lot of you guys out there as well.
64
It only happens in COD.
65
It's fine if I'm playing other games like Battlefield or Overwatch or even random games like, you know, Fallout 76 or World of Warcraft or whatever.
66
Like, my connection is always amazing in every game I play except Call of Duty.
67
Like, Packet Burst is just running rampant.
68
And if we go in the options here, we can see the telemetry features and everything.
69
And they say that they're on, but I'll quite clearly be Packet Bursting around the map and the icon simply doesn't show up.
70
So, I don't know if that's a beta bug
71
or that's them intentionally hiding it so people don't think about it or what's going on.
72
But that's what I've been personally experiencing.
73
Now, once we're actually into a match, how does it feel?
74
How does this new matchmaking system line up with open matchmaking
75
or the classic matchmaking that we have in games like Black Ops 1 or Black Ops 2?
76
Well ladies and gentlemen, I am very glad you asked me
77
that because playing this game's multiplayer feels like Joe Seacott has me tied to the floor
78
and he's slamming his double hinged doors on my exposed testicles.
79
This game feels freaking awful, man.
80
It is the sweatiest, most draining Call of Duty I think I have ever played.
81
I can't even compare it to the open matchmaking of Black Ops 7, let alone the classic matchmaking of black ops 1
82
or black ops 2 remember how bad the beta was for
83
black ops 7 you know it was really freaking rough to start
84
and that's sort of to be expected
85
because it's a beta only the sweatiest of the sweaty are
86
going to be playing it's like the sweatiest time of year
87
for the cod franchise well during the black ops 7 beta
88
when they added what they called at the time classic matchmaking there's
89
so many different labels for matchmaking anymore i'm losing track
90
but their classic open wherever they want to call it matchmaking
91
that they added to the black ops 7 beta it was like they flipped the switch man it was night
92
and day different it felt amazing but that's not what we see here within in Modern Warfare 4.
93
You might be looking at this gameplay and thinking to yourself, it doesn't look all that bad, but that's just going to further prove my point.
94
This match right here was a gimme game.
95
You guys know how skill-based matchmaking in recent years has always kind of screwed you at pretty much every turn, but then after a while, they throw you a bone and just give you like the easiest lobby known to man.
96
That's exactly what ended up happening here because my previous five or six matches, they kept throwing me in late to these horrible situations and everything.
97
I just kept backing out, backing out, backing out.
98
That's probably pretty good for their data.
99
I just kept backing out more and more and more
100
and then eventually they threw me a bone and put me in like the easiest lobby possible.
101
A better example of what matchmaking is truly like here in Modern Warfare 4 would be this footage right freaking here, man.
102
Literally everybody is just jumping and butt sliding.
103
Everyone's running a submachine gun.
104
You're dying to what feels like one bullet while opponents take like six bullets to kill for some reason.
105
There's like a lot of server desync going on.
106
And just, I've seen
107
so many comments saying this game feels like a cross between Modern Warfare 2019 and Modern Warfare Roman numeral two, electric boogaloo, it's dormant time is flamethrough, I think says.
108
And yeah, I think that pretty much nails it right there.
109
My hope was Infinity Ward would actually learn from the success of Sledgehambers Modern Warfare 3, but they didn't.
110
In fact, they're completely back on their bullshit, which brings me very nicely to our next topic, and that is how horrendous class design and overall balance is within this game.
111
Again, I don't have the most time in the world, but this stuff is so immediately apparent, and I have no idea how it made it past playtesting.
112
So here we are back at the main menu, and I will give them some credit.
113
The menu and the UI is like infinitely better than anything we've seen recently.
114
It's actually pretty damn good.
115
The classes themselves are also pretty nice, because you can customize them each individually.
116
You can choose to have your killstreaks be uniform across all your classes at once, or you can make it so each individual class has its own set of separate killstreaks.
117
It's kind of neat how they do that, right?
118
You can also pick your operators and just, again, it's pretty cool looking, right?
119
They definitely did a good job here.
120
My issues lie with the classes themselves, however.
121
When it comes to your attachments, Infinity War decided to Infinity War-ify everything once again, and they prop back a ton of negatives.
122
Do you want something as simple as a red dot sight?
123
Well, sucks to be you.
124
You now aim down sights even slower.
125
Do you want a silencer on your gun?
126
Well, sucks to suck, you now move slower.
127
Do you want a foregrip?
128
Well, now you aim slower.
129
Do you want an extended mag? well that really sucks
130
because now you reload slower aim slower
131
and run slower admittedly i don't have a ton of attachments unlocked right now
132
and the ones that aren't locked they don't even show you what they do yet
133
but what i have available to me really shows exactly what
134
this game is going to be like pretty much everything in this game is designed to punish you
135
and slow you down i understand
136
that modern warfare 4 in general is fast as hell
137
so maybe slowing things down a bit will help
138
but that's a pipe dream
139
and that's not how the world works what really happens what
140
happens in the real world is the game is always going to be super fast, especially in the higher skill brackets, and the attachments are just going to make everything feel really bad.
141
You know what I mean?
142
Like everybody's going to be constantly jumping and butt sliding regardless, but if they want any attachments on their guns, that's going to slow them down and make them feel like they're running in mud
143
or carrying around a 200 pound assault rifle.
144
As a result of this, people are just going to run little to no attachments as long as possible until eventually when they level up their guns, they can use the attachments that will increase ADS speed,
145
decrease sprint out time, and things like that.
146
I've been outspoken for years in regards to Gunsmith.
147
I think it's a terrible system.
148
The only thing it's really good for are for people
149
that want to LARP and call it D
150
and make the gun look like a gun they own in real life
151
or a gun they want to buy in real life or something they saw in a movie or something like that.
152
That's the only real benefit to it because from a practical gameplay perspective, Gunsmith is just terrible compared to other systems we've had in the past, even going back to Modern Warfare 3 by Sledgehammer Games.
153
I don't think we need to have 20 different foregrips
154
and 15 different stocks and 35 different muzzles and 22 different barrels on every single gun in the game.
155
The beauty of something like Black Ops 1 or Black Ops 2 were those games were just so simple.
156
You know, people love the attachment system, but now we have this system here, which is overly convoluted.
157
It hurts more than it helps, and ultimately, it just causes apathy from the player base.
158
Like, nobody actually knows what attachments they're running
159
or even really cares about what attachments they're running because they just Google which ones are best and they put them on.
160
Even Infinity War knows how bad this system is because they implemented this, like, AI helper named Gunny into the game who will automatically
161
put attachments on your gun based on what play style you choose and based on what attachments you have available.
162
When people aren't even making their own gun setups and they call it all through the game, then I think we've completely lost the plot.
163
But ladies and gentlemen, don't worry.
164
It only gets worse from here.
165
So not only is matchmaking incredibly sweaty, but a big part of why it feels
166
so bad is how poorly Infinity War designed the killstreaks as well as the classes in this game.
167
You see, by default, Hardline is your default perk too.
168
It's the first perk you have unlocked.
169
And if we look at the killstreak section here, they of course had to change how that works.
170
And now the UAV, the Glide Bomber, which is kind of like a Hunter Killer drone, the Care Package and the Impact Warhead are three killstreaks,
171
which means with Hardline, the very first perk you unlock, by the way, a UAV
172
or a Care Package are only a two killstreak in this game like two killstreak uab's two killstreak hair packages
173
and believe you me the spam right now is so freaking insane
174
if you're playing in a higher skilled lobby we might just say run ghost obviously ghost counters uab
175
and everything but ghost is not unlocked until like level 22
176
and it shares the same perk category as things like ninja
177
quick picks as well as kill chain the audio in this
178
game by the way is like a side tangent is really good like it's immersive
179
and everything and pennyboards always had really good sound design but footsteps are so insanely loud and And again, if you're playing in a higher skill bracket, if somebody is within like 15 feet of you, they're going to be able to hear you.
180
They will stop.
181
They will sound whore you.
182
They will kill you.
183
Ninja is a mandatory perk, essentially, in the higher skill bracket lobbies.
184
But so is Ghost because UAVs are a two kill streak and you can't have both of them.
185
So you're basically screwed one way or the other.
186
Some of you may also say just shoot down the UAVs.
187
That's not too bad, right?
188
Well, obviously, yeah, that would make sense.
189
But you only get two rockets.
190
It takes a little bit to lock on
191
and could fucking luck shooting down anything in a game as fast as what you're seeing right here.
192
You barely have enough time to spawn in in Modern Warfare 4 before you take damage, let alone run around the back of your spawn, staring at the sky, hoping to see a UAV.
193
And not only that, but once again, a UAV is a two killstreak, so you're constantly just gonna be shooting down UAVs, blowing yourself up with a grenade, trying to respawn to get more ammo.
194
Just, I'm not sure if you can keep up with the UAVs in this game if the other team is any decent.
195
That's just like how poorly this has been balanced.
196
The maps are also a sore spot for me as well, because there's not really a lot of them available right now in the beta
197
but for some reason they decided to add in a new
198
shipment in the game in the form of transit one two three
199
or whatever the hell they're calling it this map is absolutely
200
abysmal it's basically spawn die spawn die spawn kill spawn die
201
spawn kill like it's slop let's just call it what it
202
is it's face-off slop designed to appeal to the lowest common
203
denominator i really think it speaks to what Infinity Ward
204
and Activision think of the call to the community when they literally put a shipment style map into a multiplayer beta.
205
Like it's a beta for crying out loud.
206
This is supposed to be where they're gathering feedback, tweaking balance, working on spawns, adjusting this and adjusting that.
207
But damn near every match you search for will just end up throwing you into this meat grinder.
208
This is probably a beta bug, but remember how it shows the servers you're connecting to when you search and everything?
209
Well, for some reason they added that, but they forgot to include showing us what map we're about to load into.
210
Again, they claim they play tested this all the time they've worked on for like three years or whatever
211
and they didn't think it would be important to you know
212
show us what map we're about to load into i can't
213
tell you the amount of times where i've just been sitting there connecting to a midwestern
214
or a southeastern server for some reason waiting all
215
that time for it to load and everything just to find out
216
that i'm being thrown in late to transit 815 like i
217
don't want to play transit 482 it's a horrendous slot map
218
and i understand people just want to level up their guns and get their attachments and everything but
219
The point of a beta is to test out the actual game and not play on slot maps like Transit 911.
220
The other maps are a bit better.
221
I will say that, but it's a complete crapshoot as to whether
222
or not you're actually going to be able to play them.
223
And overall, I would say that Silkworm is my favorite of the bunch, at least in terms of game modes like Domination.
224
It's tough to judge the maps themselves because right now the game is so new and so fresh, and there's a lot to get used to on top of just learning the map layouts
225
and the spawns and the objectives and things like that.
226
Whether we're talking about horrendous muzzle flash, the Infinity Ward claims they fixed, but really didn't, just look at the footage right here, or the netcode causing all sorts of issues,
227
like the game's multiplayer right now just does not feel right, you know what I mean?
228
Like it just doesn't feel, it's hard to put your finger on it, but it doesn't quite feel right.
229
The best way I can describe it is the time to kill feels okay, but the time to die is damn near instant, like it doesn't matter if it was an assault rifle or a submachine gun,
230
it's all the same, because it feels like you're dying to a shotgun pretty much every single time.
231
You just sort of drop to the ground and wonder what happened.
232
When you combine all that with the horrible matchmaking, with the terrible attachment system, and the horrendous killstreak situation and perk layouts, then I think you're going to be able to guess what I'm about to say.
233
Going full circle here, back to the original question and the reason why you clicked on this video in the first place, does Modern Warfare 4 suck?
234
Well, yeah, I definitely would say so.
235
I think I've outlined that pretty well so far here in this video.
236
It has not been great whatsoever, even when the game does throw me a bone
237
and put me in the right server instead of throwing me halfway across the country.
238
A few of my issues admittedly are just beta bugs, and I imagine they will be resolved.
239
And I still need to properly test out and try the open matchmaking playlist as well as try Kill Block.
240
I think there's a mobility course in there or something like that.
241
So I'm going to try out all that stuff.
242
I will update my thoughts, my opinions on the game as the beta moves forward.
243
I'll be here with you guys every step of the way covering all the updates and all the news and all that.
244
But for right now, I figure that's a good stopping point to wrap up this video here today.
245
So there you guys have it, ladies and gentlemen.
246
Those are my honest first impressions of Modern Warfare 4.
247
I hope you guys all enjoyed the video.
248
Leave your thoughts and feedback on everything I talked about down there in the comments.
249
Be sure to sub the channel If you're out here, thank you all so much for listening.
250
And until next time, I hope you guys all have a wonderful day.
251
Good job, boys.
252
Good job.
253
I was 3-23 that game.
254
Three kills and 23 deaths.
255
Three kills, 23 deaths.
256
I ain't playing this fucking game.
257
No fucking way in the world.
