Here are 10 tiny upgrades that you can make to the way
2
that you think and operate that will have a huge impact on your life.
3
And I'm not just saying that because these specific upgrades
4
that I'm about to share with you are actually based on moments from my life
5
and mindset shifts that I've made to completely transform my life.
6
And if you are new here and you don't know who I am and you're like, huh, my name is Emily,
7
also known as M on the brain.
8
I'm a neuroscientist.
9
I've got two degrees in neuroscience as well as plenty of years of research experience in the lab.
10
I am now a speaker, author, and coach to people in over 55 countries all over the world,
11
and I'm here to help you rewire your brain, level up, and live your best life.
12
So I do just want to warn you because these upgrades are going to get a bit personal.
13
I want to share with you the very personal stories that led me to these realizations because I think,
14
you know, it's one thing for me to sit here and tell you something, but it's another thing for me to give you super clear examples.
15
And they really are so, so, so powerful.
16
So I'm gonna stop telling you about them and just start.
17
Mindset upgrade number one is that you have so much more power to change yourself and your reality than you realize.
18
When I was getting my first degree in neuroscience and I was learning about neuroplasticity,
19
which is the ability for the brain to adapt and rewire and certain areas can strengthen, certain pathways can strengthen, certain areas or pathways can weaken.
20
And the power of neuroplasticity and the ability that we have to rewire our brains and not only that, but change our beliefs.
21
And then what happens
22
when we start activating different pathways in our brains is we can actually change the biological expression
23
and the proteins that are being made and our DNA expression, like it goes so deep.
24
But when I started learning all of this for the first time, it really was the first time in my life when I realized
25
that I wasn't stuck the way that I was for
26
so long for so many years I was in
27
and out of doctor's offices I was diagnosed with ADHD PCOS just being told all the time by doctors
28
that I have all these problems and I really felt
29
that I was just stuck the way
30
that I was for the rest of my life like I genuinely just felt like something was wrong with me
31
and I was just stuck like this forever
32
and it was a tough place to be
33
and mentally i wasn't super well honestly i wasn't i really struggled with depression
34
when i was in high school and even into college
35
and i really struggled and so when i first learned
36
that hey actually like you can change like you have a
37
lot more power to change your brain than you realize
38
and therefore with through changing your brain you have a lot more power to change your reality than you realize.
39
But the truth is that your brain is not fixed and neither is your future.
40
Like yes, you have programming, you've been programmed, you've been conditioned by society, by the way that you grew up, and your circumstances are real.
41
But that doesn't mean that they have to define you.
42
Mindset upgrade number two is that the dream doesn't work unless you do.
43
When I was an undergrad, I was getting ready to graduate my first degree in neuroscience
44
and I had this birth of a dream to go get my PhD in neuroscience
45
because I fell in love with neuroscience
46
and I was like I want to do this forever
47
and I loved I was doing I was not only getting my first degree
48
but I was also doing research in the lab
49
and I fell in love with research
50
and I was just like this is it this is my thing
51
I want to go get my PhD in neuroscience but not even
52
that I want to go study study drug addiction to cure drug addiction like that was the goal.
53
All right.
54
I really, really stepped into this.
55
Like I'm telling you guys when I had these all, by the way, all of these upgrades are in order of kind of
56
when I realized them or learn them in my life.
57
And so the stories are kind of all like a string through my experiences as well.
58
But after I realized that I had so much power to change and I could change my brain,
59
I could change my beliefs and I could regulate my nervous system.
60
I went to work and I started listening to all these motivational videos on YouTube, just like compilation tracks.
61
And I had this huge dream planted within me, this delusional dream, which I am a huge supporter of delusional dreams.
62
And anyway, so when my delusional dream came of being, you know, going and getting my PhD in neuroscience and studying
63
and developing and working on new ways to treat and prevent relapse to drug addiction,
64
I realized that one, I needed to go to work.
65
And this is actually a line from one of those videos, one of those motivational videos that I listened to at the time.
66
It was, I can't remember who said it, but I have a playlist actually on my YouTube channel of all the different motivational videos
67
that I was listening to at the time because I was just making it for me.
68
Now it's public for all of you.
69
At the time, I had no idea that I would once have a platform, but anyway, it's in there.
70
You could probably find it.
71
But the line in the video is the dream doesn't work unless you do.
72
And there was this entire summer before I went into the PhD where I was like working my ass off,
73
just reading multiple research papers a day.
74
I had this like 200 page doc ready to go for when I got there.
75
I was and I was in the gym
76
and I was posting like mirror's pics and it was like the caption was the dream doesn't work unless you do.
77
So anyway, it was sort of my mantra for the months leading up to
78
when I went into the program and I ended up getting into the program.
79
It was such a powerful time for me.
80
And it really is an amazing reminder for you listening that you cannot think your way into a new reality.
81
You have to act your way into one, right?
82
Because your brain doesn't just listen to your thoughts.
83
It listens to who you're being.
84
Neuroplasticity doesn't just happen from you thinking different thoughts although it does happen through
85
that it also happens through acting okay through taking action all
86
right the dream doesn't work unless you do mindset upgrade number three is
87
that manifestation is real it is so real
88
and whenever i got into all this like neuroplasticity and and mindset
89
and like neurobiology whenever
90
i started getting into all of this i actually started to become become more spiritual
91
I guess you could say I really wasn't before
92
that I actually grew up going to Catholic school and then after
93
that I was like super depressed
94
and I really struggled with my health like I mentioned
95
and also people around me like close family members of mine were also like very sick my entire life
96
and so I rebelled against the church
97
which I think a lot of people have that experience
98
but sometimes you have to find your your own way into it which I did
99
And I just share that to say, like, I didn't always believe I actually was the opposite.
100
Like I identified as like an atheist when I was in high school.
101
So anyway, I don't anymore.
102
I don't anymore.
103
I'm a believer now.
104
But when I started to study neuroscience, this actually was kind of one of the doorways for me into spirituality that I needed.
105
Honestly, like I had such a logical, rational mind that I needed a little bit of logic to get into it
106
and understanding the neuroscience of reality really opened my eyes and opened the door.
107
It was kind of like the gateway into becoming extremely woo woo,
108
which now if you were to call me and tell me that you talked to an alien on the phone yesterday, I would believe you.
109
Like, I would believe you.
110
I, I would believe it.
111
If you were to say that you had a whole full -on conversation with God where you heard like the words, I would believe that too,
112
because I have experienced that.
113
Manifestation is real.
114
And my personal example that kind of what taught me
115
that for the very first time was getting into the phd program of my dreams
116
so like i told you i had this incredible dream of going
117
and getting my phd in neuroscience and studying drug addiction
118
and i looked into all of the best phd programs
119
that specifically had labs that were studying relapse to drug addiction
120
which you know it's one thing to go into a phd program in neuroscience
121
but it's another to find like one
122
that has a specific research lab doing exactly what you wanted to do
123
and I found that and I applied and I used all of the tools
124
that I had been gathering because I became obsessed with mindset
125
and rewiring my brain like I said
126
and I started using all the tools the affirmations visualization regulating my nervous system rewiring my beliefs doing shadow work
127
I was doing like everything I had I've had the I developed the best morning routine
128
which I've actually created a video about it's the same morning routine
129
I've been doing for probably like six years it's just
130
that good i got into the phd program of my dreams
131
and it's so interesting because you know of course i applied to multiple programs
132
and i got denied from multiple programs i remember
133
when i would get denied rather than feeling upset about it
134
my mindset immediately was like well one step closer to the program i am meant to be in
135
and so rather than having this mindset of like I got rejected for me it was like I fully believe
136
that the program that I meant to be in I'm going to be in
137
and so who cares that mindset like I'm
138
so proud of myself for having it and like looking back on
139
that I'm like wow like that was really another level I was just so
140
focused and my mindset was just so right
141
that I just never lost belief and I never lost faith
142
and I kept the the trust in the belief and it happened
143
and then I actually used the same formula and whenever I was in the PhD program,
144
someone that I guess had looked up to me for years that I never even knew her,
145
but she was one of my best friend's little sister's friends.
146
So I did not know this girl.
147
I did not even know she existed until she reached out to me and she was like,
148
hey, I want to go get my PhD in clinical psychology.
149
Can you help me?
150
And I like to help people.
151
So I was like, of course I can help you.
152
And I helped her and I gave her the entire process
153
that I used and I helped edit her essays
154
and.. she got in and I at it was me getting in
155
and then using the same process to help somebody else get into the program they wanted to get into
156
that was really what showed me like manifestation is a repeatable process
157
and it's and it works and it's real
158
and since then I have manifested so many things
159
so stop letting your current reality dictate what is possible for
160
your future your current reality does not have to be evidence for what's possible for your future
161
you could look back one day and be like, whoa, so much has changed.
162
My life looks completely different in the best way.
163
Mindset upgrade number four is that the reality you experience is not necessarily all that exists.
164
Remembering this is so important.
165
The reality that you are currently experiencing is not all that exists.
166
It's really not.
167
And learning the neuroscience of reality
168
smacked me in the face when I learned how the brain constructs our experience of reality
169
and how the visual system works and how over 99 % of the information that arrives to the brain gets filtered out.
170
When I started to understand all of that and then
171
when I learned the kitten experiment and how when they raised two groups of kittens in completely different environments,
172
one group was raised in an environment with only horizontal stripes.
173
The other group was raised with only vertical stripes.
174
And then at the end of the critical period of development for their visual system
175
they put them into a normal everyday environment and what they found was
176
that the kittens that only saw the horizontal stripes they'd jump up on tables
177
and perch but they wouldn't weave they'd bump into the table legs
178
and chair legs because their brains didn't construct them properly
179
and it was the exact opposite for the kittens
180
that saw the vertical stripes they would weave in
181
and out of table legs but they wouldn't jump up onto tables
182
and perch because their brains didn't construct it properly and
183
so the brain is like your brain is constructing your reality right now based on your programming,
184
based on your beliefs, based on your emotional state and your memories.
185
It's just so powerful.
186
I remember, and this is going to be a little juicy here for a second.
187
When I was an undergrad getting ready to graduate, I had a psychedelic experience that
188
completely transformed the way that I look at life and the way
189
that I look at myself and the spiritual realms like literally completely changed me and my life forever.
190
I'll kind of talk about it a little bit
191
but you kind of like you close your eyes and you go into this sort of hallucinations fate.
192
Just to be clear this situation or this kind of opportunity sort of presented itself to me.
193
I didn't go seeking out like a psychedelic trip.
194
I didn't.
195
I was actually at my friend's apartment and her she had two friends visiting
196
that she went to high school with
197
and they apparently like they do like ceremonies for people
198
and this was something that they did regularly
199
and they were talking about it
200
and I was like you know I'd be open to doing
201
that and they were like do you want to
202
and I didn't realize it was like an option for me to do it right then
203
and there but it seemed like it felt like intuitively like I could trust them
204
and so I did it before I did it her one friend it was a very like ceremonial thing
205
which and very intentional which I much appreciated and he said you know, when you're in it, don't try to figure out what's going on.
206
Just surrender.
207
Like don't try to figure out what's going on.
208
Just surrender.
209
And anyway, so I was in it and at first it was weird.
210
And I was like, what's going on?
211
Why am I being shown this?
212
I don't like this.
213
I don't get it.
214
And then I remembered his words and he was like, oh yeah, just, just surrender.
215
And so the moment that I stopped trying to figure out what was happening and I remembered to surrender,
216
it was like I went through this doorway complete darkness
217
and there was just this buzzing and this
218
that went on for a bit
219
and then this white hot lightning bolt that's how I describe
220
it now in the moment right I wasn't trying to describe it
221
but after the fact this white hot lightning rod struck through me
222
and it was like electrocuting me but and it was making my body super hot and And like it was,
223
it's really hard to explain with words what I experienced.
224
But after coming out of that experience, and it took me a while to be able to explain this with words,
225
but the way that I describe it now was
226
that I was being charged up by the divine and I felt like I was truly guided and protected.
227
Like I was not alone and I was connected to everything.
228
And ever since that experience in meditation, when I meditate, not every single time I meditate,
229
But if I meditate into like for a good amount of time to where I can get deep into it,
230
I can activate that lightning bolt and it just like strikes through me from above down to the center of the earth.
231
And it's like the most euphoric sensation.
232
That's the best way that I can describe it is it's a very like euphoric sensation.
233
My whole body is vibrating and I feel just very connected to the divine.
234
And I've ever since then, like whenever I've like had conversations with like my angels or God, like I, I just feel very, very spiritually connected.
235
And so I gave you both the neuroscience
236
and this sort of.. spiritual explanation for that one
237
because I know not all of you are going to resonate with like the psychedelic experience
238
and I'm not by any means promoting doing that
239
if that's not something that calls to you
240
or resonates with you then don't you don't need it I've actually spoken with people
241
that have done certain types of yoga that have had the same exact experience
242
that I had just in yoga without psychedelics
243
so it is available to you without it you can meditate
244
or pray or do yoga
245
and this can happen as well my point with all of
246
this though is each of these experiences learning the neuroscience of reality
247
and then also having my like spiritual experience both of these taught me
248
that reality is not as it seems
249
and what we can see with the human eye is nowhere near what is actually there.
250
And we know this for a fact because there are animals that can perceive different colors.
251
Like birds can see the UV spectrum.
252
There are other animals that can perceive heat maps or electromagnetic field.
253
Just so many different examples from nature of things like animals that we know can see things that we can't.
254
So what don't we know?
255
It's sort of like the ocean.
256
Like we know that there's so much unexplored.
257
Like we have no idea what we don't know.
258
And reality is the exact same way.
259
We have no idea what we don't know.
260
It's sort of like a computer.
261
You can look at the screen and you see the image on the screen of your computer,
262
but you don't see all the wiring and all of the code that's going on in the background.
263
You don't need to see the code.
264
That wouldn't even benefit you to see all of that.
265
It wouldn't.
266
It would be distracting and chaotic and overwhelming.
267
Same thing with reality.
268
Like our brains would thrive.
269
We could perceive everything that was out there.
270
So our brains just shows us exactly what we need to see for our own survival.
271
And that's it.
272
And that beautifully leads me into mindset upgrade number five, which is that you don't need to control everything for everything to work out for you.
273
When I did get into the PhD program, you remember that Google doc with all of my ideas
274
and everything that I had come up with for the whole summer prior to going?
275
I gave all of that to one of the faculty members.
276
And after that, I was terrified.
277
Immediately, my trust issues came up and I was like, you know, what if like, what if these steals my ideas?
278
Blah, blah, blah.
279
And I talked to my friend my best friend
280
that I actually made in my PhD
281
and she said she was like first of all he doesn't even have time to steal your ideas like he's
282
so busy like blah blah blah blah blah and then I remembered
283
and it really was this mantra that came to me after my psychedelic experience
284
which was like trust and surrender
285
because remember that's what my friend's friend had told me before
286
I went into it like don't try to figure it all out just surrender
287
and as soon as I surrendered was when the doors opened and this euphoric sensation came through me.
288
And so I just remembered in that moment, like I need to just trust and surrender.
289
Like what is done is done.
290
I cannot change what's happened in the past.
291
I can't change what I've done in the past.
292
I can't change what anyone else has done in the past.
293
I can't change like the things that I've chosen.
294
All I can do is trust and surrender.
295
And there have been so many times in my life where I'm gripping or trying to control something or stressed about something.
296
And then I just remember, yeah, I need to just trust and surrender, right?
297
Like trust that it's working the way that it's supposed to, even though I can't perceive it with my human brain,
298
I need to just trust and then surrender to the flow of it.
299
Because at the end of the day, I can't necessarily control every little thing outside of my control.
300
And so just remember to surrender.
301
And so many things have also come to me.
302
This is sort of like a little lesson in detachment as well.
303
And practicing detachment has been a huge part of my experiences too
304
and very very powerful but trust and surrender really is my mantra
305
that also helps me to practice detachment
306
and sort of just let go of the outcome and
307
and remember that things are going on behind the scenes
308
that I can't consciously perceive with my my little human brain
309
so just remember
310
that you don't have to control everything for everything to work out mindset upgrade number six is
311
that you don't have to do everything by yourself
312
Hyper -independence is not always a good thing.
313
It is okay to lean on other people.
314
I used to be extremely independent and I prided myself in that.
315
Like, oh yeah, I'm independent.
316
There is such a thing as taking it too far.
317
And I was hyper -independent to the point where it hurt me
318
because I felt lonely and I felt like I couldn't trust other people.
319
And whenever I was in grad school I had something happen in my family
320
I got some like really really terrible news it was finals week it was
321
so terrible that like it was before my like last last final
322
which was my neuroscience final and I had like two
323
and a half days to study for it after the other final
324
that I'd just taken and I got this news
325
and I just couldn't even focus I couldn't study like I was just like
326
so like devastated and confused and angry and upset
327
and it really did hurt my ability to study
328
and it got me like to the point where I literally just went into
329
that exam and I was like angels take the wheel like angels take the wheel
330
because like I just didn't have the energy or the focus.
331
And anyway, I ended up getting a 98 on that exam.
332
So they took the wheel.
333
So afterward, I got into my car and my grad program was in Arizona.
334
So I packed up my car and I drove to San Diego and I got this like little dingy, not even apartment, like one room Airbnb.
335
Cause that's, I was on a grad school budget.
336
Like I couldn't afford anything else, but I stayed there for like a week.
337
Like I just literally drove to a new state and just stayed there alone for like a week.
338
And then when I got back, I told my best friend what had happened.
339
And she was like, why didn't you call me?
340
And in that moment, I realized that I had never even thought to call her.
341
I never even thought to tell her.
342
I had never even thought to lean on her.
343
I had never even thought.
344
My first instinct was to drive to a new state and go be alone for a week.
345
And I will tell you, I was, that was depressing.
346
That was sad.
347
That wasn't the right choice.
348
Like it wasn't.
349
I just, I didn't know that I could.
350
And this is really important for relationships and for your own mental health because we are social beings.
351
Like we need connection and socialization and time with people that we love and friends.
352
And if you never lean on the people that you love, you're not giving them a chance to support you.
353
You're not giving them a chance to show you how much they love you and care about you.
354
And if you never give them the chance, well, one, they're not going to feel like you need them.
355
And feeling needed in a relationship is important.
356
Leaning on other people and asking them for help actually allows them to feel needed.
357
So there's that.
358
But then there's also like this allows you to like feel loved and supported too.
359
So stop making decisions for other people before you even give them a chance to decide for themselves
360
because they will surprise you.
361
And remember that it is okay to lean on other people.
362
Tiny mindset upgrade number seven is to stop letting the collective narrative determine your individual reality.
363
Remember, circumstances are real, but the circumstances that exist don't have to define you.
364
Some people are going to let circumstances define them.
365
A lot of people are okay with letting circumstances define them, but you don't have to.
366
You can rise above your circumstances.
367
And actually, that was a huge motivating factor for me when I had my dream of going into the PhD program.
368
I listened to all these YouTube videos
369
and motivational videos of people talking about their stories rising above their circumstances
370
and that inspired me and instilled the belief in me
371
that I could do that too and I'll tell you a jarring example
372
that I remember when I heard this I was like oh
373
that triggered me a little
374
and I feel like that's going to trigger a lot of people
375
when they hear it in this video
376
so this is actually a quote from Abraham Hicks in one of her like rampages
377
and she was talking about manifesting money and abundance and all
378
that and she was like you know there's this limiting belief
379
that like the economy sucks
380
and she was like well the economy doesn't suck for everyone there are people out there thriving in this economy
381
and when i heard that again i was like whoa i never heard it put
382
that way before and i'm like i'm sure it's going to trigger a lot of people
383
so if you're hearing this right now and
384
and you're a little triggered that's okay i i think
385
this is really important for me to include in this episode
386
because right now with ai there is this belief circling this collective narrative
387
that it's never been harder to get a job and while
388
that might be true collectively like the collective narrative is pushing
389
that it doesn't have to be true for you i personally know like my one of my family members
390
and one of my best friends that just graduated they both just got jobs in the past like two months.
391
While it might be true and while circumstances are real, like AI is real, like it's out there doing things like I won't deny that.
392
But what I do want to call your attention to is
393
to pay attention to where you're letting the collective narrative determine your individual reality.
394
Because remember, being delusional like really means that you are living outside of the illusion, which is the reality of the norm.
395
I knew for me in my own personal life that I wanted to rise above the reality of the norm.
396
Like I didn't want to be normal.
397
I didn't want to live a normal life.
398
I didn't want to live the reality of the norm.
399
I wanted to live a reality of the unimaginable
400
and living a reality of the unimaginable means that you have to believe in the unimaginable.
401
You have to believe in things that are outside of the norm.
402
And this is so important because, you know, when my friend actually, when she graduated, she was on the phone with me
403
and she was like literally at her graduation the the man
404
who spoke at the graduation the the like the faculty guy the special guest
405
they had to speak at her graduation literally told all the graduates
406
it's never been a worse time to get a job it's gonna be
407
so hard i was like that's horrible like they're not motivating at all
408
that stuck with my friend and she's calling me
409
and she's like i'm not gonna be able to get a job this
410
and that and i was like hey not with
411
that mindset you're not you have to believe like yeah like circumstances are real
412
but you have to believe in what you want
413
if you want to get
414
it you have to she had other people telling her oh
415
yeah like she had faculty members telling her it's gonna be difficult this and
416
that she got a job in a shorter amount of time than the person she was comparing to herself to
417
that graduated like a year prior there are
418
so many different examples i could give of this like i remember
419
when i was living in miami
420
and i thought it was just like such a horrible city today
421
there's no one to date in my city like but does that beliefs support what you want?
422
Or is it a collective narrative that you're allowing create your individual reality?
423
Mindset upgrade number eight is to get extremely clear on what you want and then never settle for less.
424
The way that you get caught settling is if you're not clear on what you want first.
425
And the example that I want to share with you here is when I manifested my soulmate, I treated dating like an experiment.
426
I have a whole episode on how I manifested my soulmate, so I'm not going to go too deep into the details here.
427
But essentially, I had a very clear list of every little detail that I wanted in a partner.
428
And when I met my fiance, it immediately felt like home.
429
And then kind of whenever we got to know each other more,
430
I realized that he checked every single box on my very long list, by the way.
431
And this wasn't like a superficial list.
432
It was a list of values and qualities and traits, but literally every single item on that list, he checked off.
433
Truly, I remember having a conversation with my best friend at the time
434
and us saying like it seems like he was made for you and I genuinely feel this way even to this day.
435
Like God designed him specifically to be with me.
436
I wish that for every single one of you listening
437
and not just when it comes to a relationship but just for anything.
438
Like get very clear on what you want and don't settle for less.
439
I have this mentality with everything.
440
Like I remember when I was trying to hire an accountant.
441
I met with a potential accountant and I just didn't feel like the energy was right.
442
So I kept looking and now I have the best accountant of all time.
443
Literally, he's amazing.
444
He does more than what I hire him for.
445
Like literally like he does, he goes way beyond what his job requirements are.
446
He's like become a friend.
447
He's incredible.
448
So anyway, never settle for less than what you want.
449
Tiny mindset upgrade number nine is that just because you don't feel loved doesn't mean they don't love you.
450
They might just not know how to love you.
451
Just to be completely transparent, I'm not going to give too many details here because this person might come for me,
452
but I don't have a relationship with multiple of the people in my family, like zero relationship.
453
I haven't spoken to them in years.
454
And for a long time, I felt really sad about that.
455
And I'm talking like immediate family, not like cousins and aunts.
456
I'm talking like immediate, like nuclear family
457
and for a long time I felt really really sad about
458
that and I beat myself up
459
and I I felt like like why don't
460
they love me like why why don't they love me it was the mindset
461
and then I was working with my coach at the time
462
and she said something that just completely changed the way
463
that I felt and my ability to heal from it
464
and move on
465
but she said they love you they just don't know how to love
466
you in a healthy way like they love you these two people they love you they do love you
467
but they just don't have the tools they don't have the knowledge
468
they don't know how to love you in a healthy way
469
that changed everything for me because it went from being something
470
that i was like lacking and reaching for
471
and gripping like why don't you love me can i make
472
you love me can i try to explain myself can i be good enough to realizing like oh wait no
473
they do love me but it's just
474
that like they don't even know how to love themselves in
475
a healthy way like they don't know how to have a real healthy relationship
476
so it's not that they don't love me it's just
477
that they do love me and
478
so it went from me like striving for their love to actually
479
it becoming a choice like do I want to be in a relationship with this person
480
that is only going to ever be able to love me in a toxic way
481
or do I want to choose better for myself and hope
482
that one day they heal and learn and I'll be here if they do.
483
But that changed everything for me.
484
And I remember I shared it with one of my good friends and she has an estranged relationship with her parents.
485
And I shared my story with her and she was like, wow, that helps me so much because she's like,
486
yeah, I feel like my parents don't love me, but they do love me.
487
They just, this is how they know how to show love.
488
And it's not necessarily how I want to receive it.
489
And then it becomes your choice whether or not you want to receive it like that.
490
So stop making another person's capacity to show love a reflection of your worth.
491
And then mindset upgrade number 10 is to stop asking how you're going to do it
492
and start asking who you need to become to do it.
493
Who do you need to become to achieve the thing that you want?
494
Yes.
495
What you need to do is important.
496
But a lot of the time we get caught up in planning like what do I need to do?
497
What are the steps that I need to take?
498
This, that, and the other and you get caught up in the planning stage and you're like, am I doing the right thing?
499
Am I, you know, am I doing the right thing?
500
And then maybe you're working against the mechanics of your brain too,
501
because your brain holds a model of who you are based on your past, your identity, right?
502
And it uses that model of who you are to predict your thoughts, feelings, and behavior.
503
So as long as who you are is different from what you want, like, and who you want to be,
504
you're going to be working against the mechanics of your brain to achieve what you want.
505
And so when I stopped asking, you know, what do I need to do and forcing myself to do it and procrastinating,
506
when I stopped doing that, and I just started asking, who is the version of me that gets what I want?
507
Who is the version of me that lives the life
508
that I want to live and I got very clear on the identity of who
509
that is and then I just became her all of a sudden the life
510
that I want the goal
511
that I want to achieve it's inevitable like it happens by default
512
because I'm so focused on the process of becoming who I want to be
513
that when you become her when you become him you get it like it's just
514
and then maybe you end up actually getting something even better than what you want
515
or even more aligned with what you want because
516
Because you're actually way more in alignment than
517
if you were doing a whole bunch of random tasks that may or may not get you toward your goal.
518
So who is the version of you that gets into the relationship, that gets the job, that builds the business?
519
Who is that version of you?
520
What are their habits?
521
What's their mindset like?
522
What are their beliefs like?
523
What do they do every day?
524
How do they show up?
525
What's their energy like?
526
How do they dress?
527
How do they represent themselves?
528
And when you go to work on that and you just become them, then that's all you really have to focus on.
529
You don't have to worry about whether or not you're on the right track or whether or not you're doing the right.
530
No, like I'm becoming the best version of myself.
531
And when I become the best version of myself, reality starts to reflect the best back to me.
532
And that's a powerful place to live.
533
And that is all I have for you today.
