Together, these models are shaping a broader picture of Vietnam's potential for net-zero tourism,

Well, clearly, those are some very interesting models that we've just seen of net-zero tourism emerging across Vietnam.
35

36
and cultural identity while still creating sustainable livelihoods through tourism.

46
In the global tourism industry,
47
how important are these local initiatives?
48
And can small community-based models generate long-term economic value?
49
Well, it is very interesting because in Vietnam during these recent years is happening what happened in other destinations before.
50
Reducing the CO2 and achieving this net zero is very important to the whole country of Vietnam because our government,
51
they make already some commitments,
52
looking at 2030 up to 2050,
53
to achieve the net zero pollution on CO2.
54
So this is not an individual effort.
55
If not, all the airlines,
56
all the construction and real estate developers need to go aligned with tourism,
57
with trains, with transportation.
58
Everybody must be alike looking at the same direction.
59
Yes, Mikhail.
60
And net zero tourism is sometimes mistakenly equated with less development,
61
involving fewer facilities and lower profits.
62
So from your perspective, how should people correctly understand the concept of net zero tourism,
63
especially in a developing country like Vietnam?
64
Right.
65
You are right.
66
This is one of the common misconceptions.
67
net zero tourism and net zero properties and that we are supporting,
68
they don't need to be lower categories or lower services or lower standards in any way.
69
These CO2 emissions are not related to cut services or minimise any of the facilities.
70
I will say the opposite.
71
The only thing is that we measure what we are doing.
72
And so I think this is a clear message for all your viewers in the program.
73
Yes, Mikael last question so looking ahead what should vietnam prioritize now
74
if it wants to establish itself as the leading net zero tourism destinations in the region not just in policy
75
but in practice
76
one simple measure that will help a lot will be to have a law enforcing
77
that all the hotels all the resorts all the travel companies
78
all the transportation companies airlines all the tourism stakeholders are accountable for what they produce to the atmosphere to the Vietnamese air.
79
We can talk about electricity,
80
about solar panels, about electric vehicles instead of fuel.
81
All this help us to reduce the CO2 that we bring into the atmosphere.
82
But the point here in Vietnam,
83
especially for development countries like Vietnam,
84
is that many owners and many companies do not know how to measure these CO2 emissions
85
and how to reduce something that we don't know how to measure.
86
If we pollute a lot,
87
we do have measures for you to reduce and pollute less.
88
And if you pollute less,
89
we have measures for you to pollute zero.
90
Only this way is the one who will drive us to achieve the 2050 commitments.
91
Thank you very much for your time.

  • Present Continuous: "We are using solar energy..."
  • Imperativo: "Pick some herbs..." - L'uso dell'imperativo è frequente in contesti educativi e normativi, importante per dare istruzioni e suggerimenti.
  • Futuro semplice: "Net-zero tourism could become..."
