1
If your life were a movie, what would the audience be screaming at the screen for you to do?
2
It is summer 29th, 2025, and I'm currently on the border of Italy and France snowboarding by myself.
3
It is day two in Thailand.
4
Going to El Salvador, guys.
5
This year, I didn't set a single New Year's resolution.
6
I'm living by one mindset instead, and it's changing everything.
7
I want to do everything, so I do nothing.
8
The beginning of 2025 felt like a limbo.
9
I'd just moved to New York City, I'd just graduated college, life was supposed to just be starting, but I felt stuck.
10
I'd scroll on Instagram, people traveling, falling in love, living boldly, and I'd just be sitting on my couch, scrolling.
11
It felt like there was an immovable wall between my life and the life that I wanted.
12
Every possibility felt loud, every choice felt heavy, every path I didn't take felt like a loss.
13
So I stayed still.
14
I think the biggest thing I've always wanted to do was to travel, but I was so scared to do it alone.
15
I told myself I would wait until I had more friends to do it, or until I made more money, or until I was just older and actually a grown-up.
16
In the Unabridged Journal of Sylvia Plath, Plath writes, I want to live and feel all the shades, tones, and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life,
17
and I am horribly limited.
18
This line perfectly describes your 20s.
19
Somehow in a world overflowing with possibility, more people than ever feel stuck.
20
So every January, we try to fix that feeling with a list.
21
I am going to be happy this year.
22
I am going to make myself happy.
23
Lose the weight, make the money, get disciplined, be happier.
24
I've rich in those lists, a lot of them, every single year.
25
And somehow they always fall apart i feel like for
26
so long i made my new year's resolutions these like very
27
outcome based goals i want a six pack i want to
28
make this much money i want 500 000 followers it was
29
all about what i wanted my life to turn out
30
but not how i wanted to do it it was always outcome based
31
but not process based
32
and i feel like the outcome based goals like every time i would either not hit hit the goal
33
and feel so shit about myself.
34
I would hit the goal and be like, now what?
35
Because there's a problem with New Year's resolutions.
36
They don't change how you see yourself.
37
They don't change how you move through everyday life.
38
A resolution assumes that if you want something badly enough, then you'll just become the type of person that can sustain it.
39
But wanting is not the same thing as knowing how to act.
40
Most resolutions fail because they rely on motivation and motivation is fragile.
41
It spikes in January and disappears the moment life becomes inconvenient.
42
They also collapse under perfectionism.
43
You miss one workout, one good meal, one day of journaling, and suddenly it just feels useless anymore, so you just abandon it completely.
44
So this year, I didn't make resolutions in the traditional sense.
45
I made a mindset shift.
46
I saw this tweet online.
47
There must be an opposite of suicide, where someone suddenly and radically decides to start living and rescues their own life from meaninglessness.
48
I realized that I can just do things.
49
I traveled across three countries in six days.
50
I want to introduce this concept of having high agency.
51
Agency is a capacity to act.
52
High agency is a belief that your life is something you actively shape, not something you wait to happen to you.
53
Here's a thought experiment.
54
You wake up in a third world jail cell.
55
You're allowed one phone call.
56
Who do you call?
57
This person isn't necessarily the smartest or the richest or the most powerful.
58
They're the person who would just figure it out.
59
I'm standing on the border of Italy and France.
60
This is France.
61
This is Italy.
62
They believe there's always a move to make.
63
That's high agency.
64
People with high agency believe in this concept.
65
The world doesn't happen to you.
66
You happen to the world.
67
They don't view the future as a static entity.
68
They view it something to be shaped by human action.
69
It's January 1st, 2026.
70
Last night, I impulsively decided to rebook my flight and fly to Thailand today.
71
High agency people aren't fearless, aren't lucky, aren't the smartest.
72
They're not special.
73
They just move.
74
Even when things are unclear, even when they're scared, even when the outcome isn't guaranteed.
75
Once I understood that, my days changed.
76
Instead of asking, what's the right decision?
77
I started asking, what's a decision?
78
Because action creates information, stillness does not.
79
So leave the apartment, book the trip, send the message start the thing i made it to milan i recently watched at poet society
80
and it reminded me of carpe diem seize the day in
81
2026 i want to seize every single day live every single
82
day to the max i want to tell you about something
83
else that's recently impacted my thinking there's something called the deferred life hypothesis it's just believed
84
that your real life starts later after the degree after the
85
move after you lose the weight after you feel more confident after You treat your current life like a waiting room, a prelude, a rehearsal.
86
You tell yourself that you're being practical, responsible, even patient.
87
But the truth is you're just postponing your real life.
88
Because later never really shows up.
89
It is day two in Thailand and we just got our food.
90
The goalposts move.
91
There's always another milestone, another reason to wait.
92
And one day you realize that you spent years preparing for a life you never actually started living.
93
I feel like for so long I felt like a victim of my circumstance.
94
I was lonely because I just didn't have that many friends.
95
I felt unfulfilled about my job because that's just what life is and I should just deal with that.
96
But I think having high agency is realizing just how much control that you have over your mind, your mindset, and your own happiness.
97
I think having that mindset of the fact that you can literally just do anything
98
is really empowering and really inspires me to just move every single day
99
and Not just sit on my phone and scroll and feel stuck
100
because the world is out there Even
101
if you're stuck at a job You don't like even
102
if you're in a bad relationship even if you still can't move out your hometown
103
There's still so many ways to improve your life and to just do things
104
There is a distinct difference between living and existing
105
and I feel like after I graduated college I was just on autopilot for an entire year
106
and every single day I would just wake up feeling
107
so bad for myself and I just felt like something was missing But nothing was missing.
108
The only thing missing was my mindset, was gratitude.
109
The only difference between the people that I saw on Instagram and myself was just that they did things.
110
So stop waiting for life to start.
111
Treat every day like it already has because it has.
112
Carpe diem.
113
Seize the day.
114
I feel like it's so easy to brush off these sayings.
115
It's just cliche Pinterest quotes but I think when you really internalize it, you realize just how much power you have over your everyday, over your happiness, over your life.
116
Your life is truly what you make of it and how you want to shape it.
117
It's not the pursuit of happiness, but more the happiness of pursuit.
118
So are you waiting for your life or are you living it?
