1
So architect, let's talk about this.
2
This is doing business model design and this is probably the most important thing that you could possibly do.
3
I got to tell you, if you get the business model right, your life is easy.
4
If you get the business model wrong, your life is hard.
5
So architect is the role that you want to be in when you're working on the business model.
6
So this is the strategic stuff, who I sell to, the product that I offer, the value proposition that I make to clients, the margin that I make.
7
You can't spend too much time in architect mode, because the better the business model is, the better everything else gets.
8
And so a really compelling offer with high degrees of recurring revenue and high margin, that's a great business.
9
So the closer you can get to that position, the better your life is going to be, the better your business is going to be.
10
We talk about the to-do list, but I think really more important than that is the not-do list.
11
This is how you create time to spend time in a high leverage role, whether it's architect or another role.
12
We recommend that people take the list of everything they've got to do, put them on a piece of paper, rank them by economic impact, the impact financially on your business.
13
Make a line about halfway through, everything below the line, the question is, am I going to not do it, don't do, am I going to delegate it, or am I going to defer it and hope
14
that time solves it? but you're never going to actually do anything with anything below the line.
15
You're only going to spend time above the line, and that should create the space that allows you to spend more time on high leverage roles like Architect.

Helping small business owners break through growth barriers.

About This Lesson

You're practicing English with "5 Roles of a CEO: Architect" using the Shadowing technique — a method originally developed for professional interpreter training.

Focus on sounding like the speaker — not just repeating words. With 15–30 minutes of daily practice, you'll build real-world speaking confidence.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
