Hi Vogue, it's Hailey, and I'm gonna be showing you guys my everyday morning routine and go-to look.
2
So in terms of my skincare,
3
I like to keep it super,
4
super simple in the daytime.
5
I feel like nighttime is more so where I'm slathered
6
and lathered and glazed and baking so that I can wake up in the morning and not have to do much.
7
I don't usually wash my face in the morning.
8
I will get up, I'll rinse it with water.
9
I will use a tongue scraper,
10
brush my teeth, oil pulling.
11
That's kind of like my morning ritual that I do.
12
So what I'd like to start with every day is a good facial spray.
13
And sometimes when I'm really busy in the morning,
14
running out the door, rushing out,
15
up with my son, I will literally just spray my face and I'll walk out the door.
16
And the next step is our road glazing milk.
17
I love the glazing milk.
18
I've talked about it a million times.
19
I couldn't say enough things about it.
20
I use it in the morning,
21
at night as makeup prep.
22
I use it mixed with my foundation to kind of sheer out the foundation,
23
give your skin this really beautiful,
24
luminous second skin kind of a look.
25
It's just such a staple for me,
26
and I really could not live without it.
27
I found that since becoming a mom,
28
I'm gravitating towards things and looking for more things
29
that make my routine a lot easier and a lot simpler and now sunscreen.
30
I love sunscreen that's really hydrating,
31
that's gonna also make your skin glowy.
32
Typically gravitate towards like milkier sunscreens or like a really nice tinted sunscreen.
33
I feel like finding the right sunscreen just takes trial
34
and error because one of the things that breaks me out the most is sunscreen.
35
Whenever I go to Paris or I go to Europe,
36
I love to go to the pharmacy and like raid the sun care section
37
because I just think the sunscreens from Europe are so much better than in the US.
38
They're my favorite.
39
And this one I got at the pharmacy when I was in Paris the last time,
40
and I'm obsessed with it,
41
and I wish that I bought five.
42
When I have leftover, I rub it on my hands because when you're driving and it's sunny,
43
I just feel like your hands get the brunt of aging.
44
I am not somebody who really likes to wear makeup a lot in the daytime.
45
I keep things very, very, very simple.
46
So usually just do the tiniest bit of concealer in just a couple areas for brightening.
47
I'm using a brush right now,
48
but a lot of the time when I'm just home,
49
I literally just take my finger and I just spread it out and rub it in like that.
50
I have yet to find something that I think is a better applicator for makeup than your finger.
51
I'm not trying to get too scientific with it,
52
but I do think it has something to do with like the skin to skin contact.
53
I just think it gives a more effortless look.
54
I don't like to use foundation during the day
55
because I really I really like the feeling of my skin being able to breathe.
56
And I also find that sometimes foundation feels a lot heavier and a lot thicker than concealer does.
57
Concealer to me feels a lot lighter on the skin.
58
I'm somebody who is very skincare obsessed.
59
I put a lot of effort into my skin
60
and keeping my skin in good health and keeping my body in good health.
61
So I feel like I want to not cover it up too much.
62
It's also like sometimes it's just easier to control on the skin.
63
Something I've been doing a lot lately too that I really like is taking an eye brightener.
64
This is like a pink eye brightener.
65
I just put a little bit in the corner here and here and randomly here.
66
And I just feel like it gives a luminosity to the skin and to the face.
67
Usually you're supposed to put eye brightener and like color correctors under your concealer,
68
but I've been liking it over.
69
Well, I think that it's meant to be for correcting any like discoloration or dark under eyes or any,
70
you know, redness, red marks, anything like that.
71
So I think when you think about it that way,
72
putting the color correction on first will neutralize it
73
and then you put the concealer over top to really seal it all in.
74
I'm just kind of reversing that because I think what I like about the eye brighteners is the brightening effect.
75
So I want to see that over top.
76
So there's that.
77
Sometimes I'll just take the teeny bit of powder just to kind of like lock it in right here.
78
This barely has any powder on it anyway because it's just leftover on the brush.
79
I don't actually have any.
80
Okay.
81
Little bit of eyebrow gel.
82
Lush.
83
The way that I apply it is I either like to put it on my finger
84
and tap it in or put it directly to the skin.
85
Or I will sometimes take a brush and tap it and do it with a brush.
86
It really just depends on what I'm feeling.
87
And sometimes if I'm doing more of a makeup look,
88
I'll use a brush because I have a little bit more control.
89
But when I'm doing something way more minimal like I am right now,
90
I prefer to use direct to the skin and use my finger just to blend it in.
91
I feel like picking the right blush colors for you is also the same
92
that I said about finding the right sunscreen for you,
93
I think it's about trial and error.
94
I think that everybody has different undertones to their skin,
95
everybody has different colors that they gravitate towards and that they don't,
96
what they like, what they don't like.
97
I'm somebody who likes pinkier,
98
but like more neutral, like a beigey pink kind of a blush or like a baby pink kind of a blush.
99
It also just like depends what I'm feeling at the time and depends on my mood,
100
so you never know.
101
Okay, next thing is freckles.
102
Sometimes when I'm running out to the gym,
103
I will just do a little bit of face mist and I'll brush up my eyebrows and just put freckles on
104
because I like the enhancement that the freckles bring.
105
I feel like enhancing your freckles gives like a youthfulness to your skin that I think is really cute.
106
Whether you have natural freckles to enhance or not, It doesn't really matter.
107
I think if you're into it and you like the way it looks,
108
you can totally just create your own.
109
I think that's pretty much what they were made for in the first place.
110
I had makeup artists that were enhancing my real freckles.
111
And then I started seeing my freckles multiplying from being in the sun and being outside.
112
And I realized the more I would see makeup artists enhancing my freckles,
113
the more I liked it and wanted to incorporate it on a day-to-day basis.
114
Last but not least, lip.
115
These are our lip contours.
116
And the thing, the reason that I made these was exactly for what we're discussing in this video.
117
A really natural, just enhancing the natural lip,
118
giving a little bit more fullness and volume to the lip.
119
All of the things I make at Rode are these really hybrid products where it's like skincare and makeup combined.
120
And with the lip contour,
121
it really is infused with great skincare.
122
And I wanted it to be that way because I wanted it to be super, super natural.
123
I feel like it just gives the most natural,
124
subtle look to the lips,
125
but you can still see there's a little something there.
126
I also use these in every single one of my lip combos.
127
This is always the thing that I start with.
128
Just clean it up a little bit.
129
I don't use mascara during the day.
130
It really started because I just kept forgetting to use it in my makeup routine.
131
But then I started realizing how much more I liked the way my makeup looked without mascara.
132
And what I will do a lot though,
133
is I will curl my lashes just to give them a little bit more of a lift,
134
but I'm not the biggest mascara girl.
135
So the last thing I'm gonna do
136
after I applied that little bit of makeup is I'm gonna go back in with the face mist
137
just to give a little more rehydration on my skin.
138
It brings back a really nice glow to the skin.
139
I love this mist also for if I've been in makeup for like hours,
140
but I don't wanna take it off and I wanna refresh it and I wanna bring hydration back to my skin,
141
I will use this mist and it'll just be the perfect thing to kind of give life back to the makeup.
142
So with this look, I'm off to just run around town,
143
go out of the house,
144
grab a coffee, whatever it may be, run to the office.
145
This is just my typical everyday go-to for life, I guess.
146
Thank you, Vogue, and thank you guys for watching.
147
I'll see you soon.

Why practice speaking with this video?

If you're looking to enhance your English speaking skills, Hailey Bieber’s morning routine video offers an excellent context for practice. Engaging with this content not only allows you to hear authentic conversational English but also provides insights into everyday life and routines. By mimicking her natural speech and expressions, you can employ the shadowing technique, which helps improve pronunciation, intonation, and fluency. As you follow along, consider how her quick tips for a simple skincare routine can translate into your own daily practices and conversations. This will make your learning experience more relevant and enjoyable.

Grammar & Expressions in Context

In Hailey's narration, you can find several useful grammatical structures and expressions that can enhance your own speaking abilities. Here are a few key examples:

  • "I like to keep it super simple…” - This structure illustrates how to express preferences and opinions effectively.
  • "I feel like…” - A common way to introduce your thoughts or feelings, great for casual conversations.
  • "I will…” - This future tense expression indicates routine actions, making it useful for discussing your daily habits.
  • "That’s kind of like…” - This phrase is perfect for making comparisons, crucial for expressing ideas clearly in conversations.

Practicing these structures in various contexts will enhance your overall fluency, whether you’re preparing for IELTS speaking practice or casual discussions.

Common Pronunciation Traps

Pay attention to the following tricky words and phrases from the transcript as you practice shadow speech:

  • "Glazing milk” - The 'glazing' sound can be tricky; ensure you emphasize the 'g' and 'z' sounds clearly.
  • "Radiant" and "luminous” - These descriptive adjectives require careful articulation. Focus on the vowel sounds to ensure they are crisp and clear.
  • "Sunscreen” - The stress on the first syllable can be a common mispronunciation. Practice saying it as “SUN-screen” rather than “sun-SCREEN”.

Utilizing a shadowing app can help you delve deeper into correcting these potential pitfalls as you mimic Hailey’s intonation and pace. Remember, consistent practice through shadow speech will gradually enhance your pronunciation and listening skills.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
