Topic: Friendship 1.What does friendship mean to you?
2
I think friendship is a relationship between  people who trust, understand and support each other. A good friend is someone who can listen  to you when you have problems and share happy moments with you. For me, friendship is not just  about spending time together, but also about being honest and respecting each other. 2. How do people build friendships?
3
I think people can make  friends in many different ways.
4
For example, they can meet new people at school,  at work, or through social activities. Nowadays, social media and online communities also help  people connect with others who have similar interests. However, to build a strong  friendship, people need to communicate regularly and spend time together. 3. Is it easier to make friends now than in the past? Yes, I think it is easier to make friends nowadays. The main reason is  that technology allows people to communicate with others very easily. For example, we  can use social media to meet people from different cities or even different countries.  However, I think making a close and trustworthy friend is still difficult because online  relationships are sometimes less personal.
5
4. What are the benefits of having good friends? There are several benefits of having good friends.
6
First, friends can provide emotional support when  we are stressed or have problems. They can also motivate us to do better in our studies or work.  In addition, spending time with friends can help people relax and reduce stress. Therefore,  I think having good friends is important for both our happiness and personal development. 5. Are there any disadvantages to having friends?
7
Yes, I think friendship can also  have some disadvantages. For example, people may sometimes have arguments because  they have different opinions or personalities.
8
Another problem is that maintaining a friendship  requires time and effort. If people become too dependent on their friends, they may also find  it difficult to make decisions by themselves.
9
6.Is it better to have many  friends or a few close friends?
10
I think having a few close friends is better  than having many friends. The reason is that close friends usually understand us better  and are more willing to support us when we have difficulties. Having too many friends can  also be difficult because we may not have enough time to maintain all these relationships.  So, I believe the quality of friendship is more important than the number of friends. 7. How can friends influence a person's life?
11
Friends can have a strong influence on  people's lives, both positively and negatively.
12
Good friends can encourage us to develop good  habits and achieve our goals. On the other hand, if someone spends a lot of time  with people who have bad habits, they may be influenced by them. Therefore, I  think it is important to choose friends carefully.

About This Lesson

You're practicing English with "ielts- speaking- part 3 -friendship" using the Shadowing technique — a method originally developed for professional interpreter training.

Focus on sounding like the speaker — not just repeating words. With 15–30 minutes of daily practice, you'll build real-world speaking confidence.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
