1
I'm so immensely happy I'm able to make this video today
2
because ModRymph just rolled out their brand new AI policy alongside with a brand new disclosure system.
3
And even though most of you will probably already know how I feel about this, let's talk about it.
4
Do be sure to double check if you're a sub to the channel, I would appreciate it so extremely much.
5
So it's not a secret that I've been quite critical of ModRymph's AI policy before.
6
Their AI policy being having absolutely none.
7
Anything on the entire platform could be AI generated.
8
The codes, the assets, gallery images, descriptions, everything was allowed to be AI generated.
9
And this caused a really big problem for the website.
10
It was slowly filling up with AI slob.
11
Now I made a video about exactly that here on the channel at the end of last month.
12
There's a big chance you've seen it.
13
And in that video I talked about not hating AI overall.
14
I can see it being very useful as a tool to for example double check your code
15
or find spelling mistakes in a text.
16
But when you let AI fully generate everything for you
17
and you're not able to ensure the quality of whatever thing you've generated, then you get something which we call AI Slop.
18
Just low quality code that barely functions.
19
ModRainf had a very big issue with this.
20
There were users who would literally release more than 10 plugins and mods in a single month, all fully AI generated, with only a single goal in mind,
21
hoping that one of them would blow up so they could earn themselves a bit of ad revenue.
22
Literally flooding the website in the hope that something would catch on.
23
This has definitely caused a lot of frustration among community members, and my breaking point was reached
24
when I did a live stream here on the channel where we checked out Minecraft plugins
25
and every single plugin that got served to me was something AI generated that barely functioned.
26
That is what drove me to make that video in the hope
27
that ModRinth would finally do something about these low quality AI slop projects.
28
And exactly that has just happened.
29
ModRinth introduced brand new AI rules and project disclosures.
30
So let's go over everything which they changed.
31
First up we see ModRymph acknowledging here that yes, AI generated content was indeed flooding the platform.
32
Where project submissions have gone up from 2500 per week to 5000.
33
That shows how much AI content was being uploaded to the platform.
34
They never had any quality threshold and they will still not have one.
35
But they will be more strict when it comes to AI.
36
These are pretty wise words.
37
ModRymph is a community of creators.
38
In order to be a creator you need to actually create something.
39
And when you generate something with AI, it's not your work.
40
AI made it.
41
So there are actually two main things changing.
42
First up is a brand new TOS update explicitly banning fully AI generated projects.
43
Over here we got the ModRainf TOS.
44
We're gonna click on content rules and we're gonna scroll down to the bottom.
45
And here you can see a brand new rule called usage of generative AI.
46
Now the first rule explicitly states that you now need to disclose if your project uses AI generated content.
47
In other words, if a big portion of the code of your project is AI generated,
48
you will need to add an AI generated content disclosure to your project.
49
This is what such a disclosure will look like at the bottom of the Matrimf page.
50
Under the details section, you will now not only see the update and publish date alongside the license, but now over here, you're also able to see disclosures.
51
For example, the AI generated code disclosure contains AI generated code and text.
52
Like you can see this is not the only disclosure that they've added.
53
I'll talk more about that in a little bit.
54
But this disclosure is now mandatory if your project contains AI generated code.
55
But ModRainf actually goes one step further.
56
And this second rule over here completely prohibits some forms of AI generated content.
57
For example, images.
58
No images uploaded to the gallery,
59
icon, description or any other part of the project may be created or derived from generative AI output.
60
Such images may be removed.
61
In other words, the era of AI icons that you would find literally everywhere on Mothrampf is finally over.
62
It is no longer allowed to have an AI icon
63
or an AI gallery image and even descriptions are not allowed to be fully AI generated.
64
And then secondly, projects may not be published publicly if the content are primarily or entirely a product of AI outputs.
65
So what does that mean?
66
It means that if you use AI just as a tool to write small portions of code
67
or double check your code or maybe fix your spelling mistakes, that is totally fine.
68
You only have to disclose that some parts of your project include AI generated content.
69
But if your project is fully AI generated, like completely, from start to finish,
70
everything is AI, it is now officially prohibited to be publicly released on ModRymph.
71
You're no longer allowed to upload those projects to the platform.
72
Now the second thing that ModRymph has added are, well, the disclosures.
73
And of course, we've taken a look at this AI content disclosure, but they actually added a bunch more.
74
So content disclosures are a brand new feature and
75
while yes there is a contains AI generated content disclosure that is not the only one they added.
76
There are a bunch more disclosures now which you have to apply to your project if they're applicable.
77
The other ones are contains advertising so
78
if your project somehow contains any form of promotion or sponsorship you now need to disclose that.
79
If your project contains any form of paid features meaning they're features
80
that can only be obtained by spending IRL money then that now also needs to be disclosed.
81
There is a disclosure for data collection so
82
if any data is collected for example by yourself or by a third party then that also needs to be disclosed.
83
There is a disclosure for derivative content and this is
84
are forking another project that's of course totally allowed
85
but you do now need to add this disclosure to your
86
content to let everyone know hey I am forking a project a substantial part of this project
87
that I'm making is not mine I'm the one keeping it up to date I'm adding new features
88
but it is in theory a fork of work
89
that someone else made and there is now a disclosure for
90
that there's also a photo sensitivity warning which is a really good thing
91
and I think it speaks for itself then there is a disclosure for external system interactions for example
92
if your project reads or edit things on the user's system outside of the game for example
93
if you have a minecraft plugin that's able to browse your files
94
while you're in game just a random example then this disclosure would apply to them
95
because you're browsing your pc in game which is outside of minecraft
96
so it is doing external system stuff and then there is archive which is the only disclosure that is not new, if your project is archived,
97
it now shows up in the details section.
98
And one of the greatest things, in my opinion, that ModRainf has added is the ability to completely turn off AI-generated content for you.
99
So everybody has to disclose if their project includes AI-generated content or not.
100
With the advanced exclusion filter here, all the way in the bottom left, you can now completely turn off AI-generated content.
101
It is now excluded which means that now I will no longer find projects
102
that have the disclosure that they include AI generated content.
103
They will no longer show up for me in search or just while browsing mods which is amazing.
104
Now to everyone who has a project on ModRymph.
105
There is a grace period of 45 days.
106
Which basically means
107
that ModRinth is giving you 45 days to set your disclosures correctly before they're gonna start enforcing these new rules.
108
So you have until September 27 of this year to set up your disclosures correctly, to follow the new AI policy rules,
109
and only after that they are gonna actually enforce it.
110
So you have some time to get everything sorted out.
111
Now in my personal opinion, this is an absolute W you.
112
I made that AI slop video for a reason.
113
Modrimf was becoming close to unusable
114
because of all of the spam projects on the website
115
which was just simply taking my joy out of browsing Modrimf and finding new cool projects.
116
And it is such a huge shame because it is an incredible website and you guys know I love Modrimf.
117
I've loved Modrimf since the start.
118
I've used their platform for many years and I intend to continue doing that.
119
This AI slop was just really ruining the experience for me
120
and many others and I'm so immensely glad Modrind is finally doing something against it.
121
I have absolutely no clue by the way
122
if my video had any influence when it comes to Modrind deciding to make an AI policy.
123
I made that video and now three weeks later they have made rules against AI.
124
I personally think this is something
125
that has been in the works for a long time but I guess we will never know.
126
Now something which is interesting to mention is
127
that I was doing a live stream while ModRimf dropped this new AI policy news.
128
You guys were the ones informing me of all of this in
129
that stream's live chat and during
130
that stream a creator of a big AI generated mod on ModRimf joined my chat and shared their opinion.
131
They were obviously not happy with this policy
132
because even though their project w waypoints is fully ai generated
133
from start to finish it seems to be a working project
134
and why do i say it seems to be well it has almost 700 000 downloads
135
which is a lot of downloads that shows that the project likely works
136
and a lot of people are actively using it but
137
because it is fully ai generated not just partly
138
but fully under this new policy it is now officially no longer allowed on mod rymph.
139
So in the process of mod rymph banning AI slop they're also getting some big mods caught in the crossfire.
140
Because fully AI generated content is not allowed most AI slop is fully AI generated
141
but some well-working mods like this one at least I suppose it is otherwise why would it have
142
so many downloads this one will also be banned in 45 days.
143
With that said I can still fully see why ModRAMF decided to take this route
144
because yes even though this is likely a great working mod
145
that is fully AI generated like ModRAMF said in the intro
146
of their announcement for you to actually be a creator you need to actually create something.
147
If you let AI create something you didn't create it.
148
That seems to be ModRAMF's official stance.
149
They want you to make something and they don't want AI to just generate a whole thing for you.
150
So even though this is a popular mod and it is generally working well, Modrimf's stance seems to be it is still not your mod, you did not make it yourself,
151
you're not the creator, the AI is the creator and therefore we will no longer allow it on our platform.
152
Now I would absolutely love to know your opinion about all of this.
153
What do you think about this new AI policy?
154
What do you think about these new disclosures?
155
Do you think Modrimf done a great job by fully banning completely AI generated content
156
or do you have some other thoughts that you want to share?
157
Whatever you have to share do leave it in the comments down below
158
and with that being said that is gonna be it for today.

Real-Life Context: Discussing Platform Changes

Imagine you’re chatting with a friend about a popular website updating its rules—like the one in the video where a platform cracks down on AI-generated content. This scenario is full of everyday language: talking about problems, solutions, and new policies. It’s the kind of conversation you might have at a café or online, making it perfect for practicing natural English.

Useful Chunks to Remember

  • "rolled out their brand new policy": A common way to say a company launched a new rule. Great for talking about updates.
  • "flooding the platform": Describes too much of something overwhelming a space. Use it for trends, content, or even traffic.
  • "explicitly banning fully AI generated projects": Clear and direct language for rules. Useful when explaining what’s not allowed.
  • "add an AI generated content disclosure": Means to publicly state something. Handy for talking about transparency in projects or work.
  • "reached my breaking point": When you can’t handle a situation anymore. Perfect for sharing frustrations naturally.

Your Shadowing Challenge: Practice Pronunciation & Flow

To improve English pronunciation and fluency, try this shadowing exercise. First, listen to the video clip where the speaker talks about ModRinth’s new AI rules. Pause after each 5-second segment. Then, shadow speak by repeating the words out loud, matching the speaker’s tone and speed. Focus on phrases like "slowly filling up with AI slob"—notice how "slob" is stressed for emphasis. Do this 3 times, then record yourself. Compare your version to the original: Did you catch the rising intonation in "And exactly that has just happened"? Shadowing helps you mimic natural speech patterns, making your English sound more like a native. Keep practicing, and soon shadow speech will feel like second nature!

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
