Remember all those times before Tom Holland was PR trained where he would anger Sony to the point

that anytime he was asked a question, he would just look over to the side with this look of, if I say something wrong, the dot is going to show up somewhere on me and I'm screwed.

Well, now he talks about how he angered Sony in a

different way during the press tour for Spider -Man No Way Home.

recently speaking with the Hollywood Reporter Tom Holland was asked about all the press tours

that he's had to do the ones involving Uncharted the ones involving Spider -Man No Way Home

and specifically how he handled those because honestly

if you look at it he handled those pretty well he was lying through the roof

which honestly is exactly what he should have done to keep the element of surprise for the people

that were going to see the film so nothing there

and he talks about how emotional it was for him

and how hard it was but again he had to do it

but then he said he thought he was doing really good

up until he got a call after he did a bunch of interviews one day in a row

and the people at the studio referencing sony were really angry at him

and that they were kind of mad at how he was promoting the film

and he was like well i'm not spoiling anything

and he says well you keep saying that the movie is brutal

and shows some violence and some emotion in there that's very raw um we don't like

that stop advertising it as brutal and he says

that he was kind of uh shocked by this

because he figured well it is there's a moment in there

and he did hype that up you know he said that there's a brutal moment in there for Peter Parker

that just about takes it a little too far and that he can't wait for people to see it.

And automatically people kind of assumed we knew what he was talking about because we were like, look, there's been a rumor somebody close to him is going to die.

He's probably going to almost take a life.

And him saying, well, there's a very brutal Peter Parker moment in there.

It's going to be a mess.

It's going to be bloody.

You know, people connected the dots.

I could see why Sony would be mad from a PR standpoint people could have spun

that in such a wrong way that it could have hurt the film

because suddenly it would have taken just one just one of those people

or channels with a big following to go spider -man too violent for kids suddenly moms

and parents are all out there oh my god it's too

much for my kids i can't handle this why spider -man

gotta be brutal it's like oh god you know luckily didn't happen

but you can see from sony's standpoint why they were worried

and they're like stop using that word stop referencing blood

and raw emotion and brutality if we get you know um suddenly flagged for

that it's going to be bad on us

and the pr is going to be a nightmare

so he then kind of pivoted to well look it's going

to be heartbreaking there's a lot of stuff happening it's fun

there is some stuff in there that's you know um brutal

but it's very fun and And you could see like the exact moment that changed in the PR, which now kind of makes sense when they call him and they go,

oh, man, you really can have us screwed here if people pick up on this.

And luckily, most of us normal functioning human brains picked up on what he was saying and didn't twist his words.

Now, if only other people could do that with other people's quotes.
