1
You don't need more motivation.
2
You need habits that make your life better.
3
You need systems to improve your life.
4
And so today I want to give you the five habits that rebuilt me as a person.
5
They built my focus, my peace, my self -respect, and also turned into success in the long term.
6
I don't want to give you any fluffs or any hacks.
7
just things that are going to work for you to show up on your worst days
8
when you don't feel like taking action and if you want a life that feels bigger and lighter and better
9
then this episode is going to be for you.
10
So let's dive straight into it.
11
Number one, One of the most important things that you can do is create your own morning mindset priming technique.
12
Your own morning mindset priming technique.
13
Basically, here's the way you want to think about it.
14
When you wake up in the morning, you have this interesting small window where your brain is really able to get into your subconscious.
15
The stuff that you say, the stuff that you do.
16
And most people waste that time with scrolling on their phone, looking at their emails, watching Netflix, whatever they do in the morning, right?
17
want you to find.
18
a 10 -minute window in your day where you prime your
19
mind for how you want to feel how you want to be how you're going to show up
20
and who you're going to be throughout the day just a 10 -minute window
21
that is as soon as you possibly can
22
when you wake up in the morning i want you to
23
think about breath work breathing in deeply you can listen to
24
breath work as you're doing it go on youtube type in
25
breath work follow something that's 10 minutes long you're going to get yourself into
26
And what you're going to do is you're going to focus on two things.
27
Number one, your beliefs who you are, who you think you are.
28
And I want you to speak into existence, the type of person that you are, the type of person that you want to be.
29
You know, I don't want you to say, oh, I'm, uh, becoming better.
30
I want you to say, I am better.
31
Don't say, you know, if you're working through health issues, don't say, I want to be healthy.
32
Say, I am healthy.
33
You're going to change your beliefs and you're going to use these moments to speak into existence, what it is that you want in your life.
34
If you do this over and over and over again, you will eventually start to change yourself, about the world, about other people.
35
So that's the first thing is the beliefs that you have in your brain.
36
And the second thing is the behaviors that you're going to take today.
37
I want you to see what you're going to do, how you're going to execute it.
38
And I want you to see everything working exactly the way that you want it to.
39
Reason why is because then when things actually happen in your day and you've got to go out and take action, you feel more confident because you unconsciously or maybe unconsciously feel like you've done it before.
40
Priming basically sets your emotional...
41
GPS of this is how I want to feel today in
42
your your mental GPS of this is what I'm going to do today.
43
Most people wake up and they just go with the default.
44
Not you.
45
You're not going to do that.
46
You're not going to look at your phone for the first hour of waking up.
47
You're not going to look at your inbox.
48
You're not going to talk to anybody if you can.
49
The first 10 minutes, you just want to focus on breathing, focus on your beliefs, and focus on your behaviors.
50
Talk to yourself the way that you need to in order to brainwash yourself into believing
51
that you are the person that you need to be in order to create the life that you want and visualize it.
52
It's only 10 minutes.
53
Everybody listening to this right now can do it.
54
So it's basically today, this is how I'm going to show up.
55
This is the identity I'm going to show up with.
56
This is the behaviors that I'm going to do.
57
And I'm going to make sure I focus on that all day long.
58
I teach this because it works at a very, very deep level.
59
And so number one is you need to come up with your own morning priming technique.
60
Hey, to the 65 .6 % of you who watch my videos but are not subscribed, yes, we see it.

62
It helps the channel grow and it helps me keep making more content to help you grow as well.
63
So with that, let's go back to the show.
64
Number two, this is something that really changed my life, and I've shared this before, but it is radical ownership.
65
If you've listened to this podcast for a long time, one of the most, if not the most life -changing conversation I've ever had was with my very first mentor.
66
I was 19 years old.
67
I was showing up late to calls.
68
I wasn't hitting the assignments.
69
I wasn't being who I needed to be.
70
I was giving him excuses.
71
And he called me out.
72
He said, Rob, Thank you.
73
If a business succeeds, and all 1 ,000 people in this business have massive success, whose fault is it?
74
And I was like, that would be the CEO's fault.
75
He said, okay, if the business fails, whose fault would that be?
76
I was like, that would be the CEO's fault.
77
He said, okay, so if you get to the end of your life and you have everything that you want, the love, the happiness, success, joy, family, everything you've ever wanted, whose fault would that be?
78
I was like, that would be my fault.
79
He's like, okay, if you get to the end of your life and you don't bring out the love, the joy, the happiness, the success, you don't live up to your potential and it's not what you wanted to be, whose fault would that be?
80
I was like, I guess that would be my fault.
81
He said, your problem is that you are not living like you're the CEO of your own life.
82
You've got to stop blaming other people.
83
You've got to stop blaming other circumstances.
84
Everything is your fault.
85
From that moment on, it was like a switch, just switched in my head.
86
And I was like, I got to take action.
87
It's me.
88
I am the CEO of my own life.
89
And if I'm the CEO of my own life, then I am the only one to blame for when something goes well.
90
So I changed my excuses.
91
I stopped acting the way that I used to.
92
And now my brain was looking for, instead of me being a victim,
93
my brain was looking for solutions to problems versus blaming and excuses and all of that stuff.
94
It was like, no, I'm the one that's running the show.
95
I need to figure out what I need to do in order to get myself where I need to go.
96
So every decision that I made from that moment forward was, hey, you know, there's a lot of things that I cannot control in my life.
97
There are some things that I can't control in my life.
98
What can I control?
99
What I'm going to do is I'm going to focus on the thing that I can control.
100
I'm going to ignore everything else.
101
That's it.
102
Very simple.
103
And so you need to start treating yourself like you're the CEO of your own life.
104
You need to have radical, radical ownership.
105
Anything that happens in your life is your fault.
106
If you look through that lens, it doesn't make you a victim.
107
It puts you into a place of power, puts you into a place of control.
108
Okay, so that's number two.
109
Number three is what I call the do it now rule.
110
is this is a strategy to kill all of the open loops
111
that exist in your life here's what is it's very simple
112
If I think of something that needs to be done and it takes less than five minutes, I'm just going to do it now.
113
no negotiations and the reason why this works is
114
because unfinished tasks in your brain create cognitive open loops
115
that drain your energy if you're somebody who overthinks
116
if you're somebody who's got way too much going on you
117
have adhd you have all of these things you've got to
118
start getting better at closing all of these open loops so closing loops frees working memory and returns things at a time.
119
So this is how it would work, right?
120
I end up getting on my email real quick, 'cause I've got a few minutes, and I see this email, and I'm like, oh God, I don't wanna reply to this email right now.
121
Is it gonna take less than five minutes?
122
Yes, okay, do it now.
123
That simple, okay?
124
I've got to...
125
I've got to schedule this calendar invite.
126
I've got to send it over to somebody.
127
It's going to take less than five minutes.
128
Yes, do it now.
129
You know, I didn't get all my pushups in this morning.
130
Is it going to take less than five minutes?
131
Yes.
132
All right, do it now.
133
I just finished lunch and there is one dish that I have in my hand.
134
I could leave it in the sink, but it's going to take less than five minutes.
135
Yes, do it now.
136
It's quite simple.
137
It's very, very simple.
138
There's no drama behind it.
139
If it takes less than five minutes, just do it now.
140
Now, there is a caveat to that.
141
Like if I'm in the middle of a extremely in -depth work session of me planning something out
142
and I finish eating lunch and there's a dish sitting in front of me, I'm not going to get up and go wash the dish in that moment.
143
It's like you've got to know the moment to do it.
144
But if I'm walking in the kitchen, I have a dirty dish in my hand and it takes less than five minutes.
145
Do it now.
146
This will help you become the type of person that follows through.
147
finishing something.
148
Okay, well, the key to it is to start small.
149
Don't start big.
150
Don't try to change the world and lift these heavy things.
151
It's like, no. One thing, if I want to get better at follow -through, then I need to reply to that email.
152
If I want to get better at follow through, I need to wash that dish.
153
If I want to get better at follow through, I need to make my bed as soon as I get up in the morning.
154
If I want to get better at follow through, I need to just make sure whatever it is that's happening right in front of me that needs to be done, I'm just going to cross it off my list.
155
Because if not, that thing lives in my brain the rest of the day.
156
And so, very simple.
157
I would recommend, and here's a task I'll give you real quick.
158
Try this out today.
159
Set a 15 -minute timer, and I want you to hunt around your life and your day
160
and find as many less than five -minute tasks as you possibly can.
161
and then try to get all of them done as many of them done as you possibly can and 15 minutes.
162
So you might set a 15 minute timer, you notice, oh, you got to do this X, Y, Z, you get seven things done in 15 minutes.
163
And then you're like, okay, that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
164
And then notice how much quieter your mind is, the mental room that you just bought for yourself.
165
So that's number three.
166
Number four is I have set in my life very hard boundaries with technology.
167
I know so much about psychology and the way the brain works and neurology.
168
And I am I am completely weak to my phone if I'm not in control of it.
169
I am, and I know what's going on.
170
That's the crazy part about it.
171
And so for me, I have very hard boundaries with technology.
172
I have two separate phones.
173
I know that people are listening to this podcast, might not be able to have two separate phones, but I have one work phone, and I have one that's an actual phone that is like my,
174
my actual life phone and my work phone to be honest with you it's literally got text messages, phone calls, and photos.
175
I think that's literally it.
176
There's nothing, I don't have email on it, because I do all of my email and everything on my computer.
177
I don't have Instagram or any of that stuff.
178
This has actually become my favorite phone to leave the house with, believe it or not.
179
Because when I leave the house, I've only got like my, you know, I walk away from my wife 'cause she walks into a store.
180
She can call me, she can text me, we can find each other.
181
I've oh, there's maps as well and then maps so I can know where I'm going to be going to someplace.
182
But I have set really hard boundaries.
183
You know, my phone is on airplane mode every single night at a specific time.
184
I have like no phone zones.
185
I have deep work.
186
When I sit down to do deep work, my phone, both of them are...
187
in a completely different room.
188
If I have family time and I'm sitting down to family time, it's after 7 p .m., absolutely no phone.
189
All of my notifications are completely off on my computer and they're completely off my phone.
190
The only way that my phone clicks on from being black is if I get a phone call.
191
Not a text message, not an email, nothing on Instagram, none of those things.
192
If you do this, the fewer pings that you have, the bings that are happening in the background, the fewer cortisol spikes that you'll have throughout the day.
193
Your attention, it's not like a buffet.
194
You need to protect your attention, protect your energy at all costs.
195
If you protect it, everything in your life will improve.
196
Your work, your patience, your sleep, your relationships, everything will.
197
And so, Have these like no text zones.
198
Look at your computer and say, how can I make my computer so it doesn't distract me as much?
199
Look at your phone.
200
Say, how can I make sure it doesn't distract me as much?
201
When I'm going to get something done and I need to really work on something and it's important, I need to make sure that my notifications are off my computer and my phone is in a different room.
202
You've got to have really hardcore boundaries with your phone, with your computer, with everything else that you have, or it will ruin your day.
203
And if you do that long enough, it will ruin your life.
204
Put a cap on social media, 30 minutes a day.
205
That's it.
206
And after you're done with 30 minutes, You're done.
207
You got to go on with your life.
208
Life is not right in front of your face looking at a screen.
209
Life is everything that's happening outside of that.
210
Set some hard boundaries.
211
It might be, hey, I'm offline from 8 p .m to 8 a .m.
212
You know, if it's urgent, call twice so that does go through.
213
But it's like, hey, I'm offline.
214
You just need to know that.
215
And so, and then you figure out what your tech -free windows are.
216
Dinners, 8 p .m to 8 a .m., bedtime with the kids.
217
You know, you're not anti -tech.
218
I'm not anti -tech.
219
I'm just really, as I get older, I'm more pro -presence than anything else.
220
Okay, that's number four.
221
And then number five, one of my favorite things to do is to speak my reality into existence.
222
I use my words very clearly to aim at where I want my life to go.
223
I speak above my current circumstances.
224
I don't say I want this.
225
I say I have this.
226
I know that what I want, I'm going to get.
227
Think about this.
228
I can be afraid of something that hasn't happened yet in the future.
229
Then I can be grateful for something that hasn't happened yet in the future as well.
230
So I can sit there and if I'm somebody who is going through some health things, knowing that placebo effect exists and the nocebo effect exists,
231
which is placebo effect is you heal sick with your mind,
232
then I'm gonna sit there and I'm gonna thank you God or the universe or whatever I believe in for my health.
233
"I'm so grateful for my health.
234
"I'm speaking into existence what it is that I want." Language shapes your attention, it shapes your emotion, it shapes your identity,
235
it shapes your beliefs, and then we act in line with what we believe.
236
and what we think about the world.
237
and we continue to keep doing it and you continue to keep taking action as a person you want to be
238
if that's the way that you're speaking
239
so you want to talk in line with the person
240
that you're wanting to become don't ever stick to an identity
241
oh well i'm just the type of person who says xyz
242
oh i've always been this way you know don't even say
243
i have anxiety say i've had anxiety in the past like a lot of people take a behavior
244
or something that's happened to them and they'll make it their identity they'll have anxious moments and they'll say i'm anxious No, no, no, that's not the way that it works here.
245
I'm not going to put something like, I'm not going to make that a label on top of myself.
246
Okay, you have, maybe you've been anxious in the past.
247
I've been anxious.
248
I've had anxiety in the past.
249
That's the way it's going to talk about it.
250
Don't say, I am anxious.
251
If you say, I am anxious, you're making a behavior, an identity.
252
So you gotta think like, what would future, what would the perfect version of me say about this?
253
How would they speak to themselves?
254
How would they show up?
255
And then what you want to do is replace your I am's.
256
Anything that starts with I am, you cannot Finish that sentence with anything less that something that's empowering to you.
257
If it's a negative label, I'm not good enough.
258
I'm not smart enough.
259
I'm not good at math, whatever.
260
I'm not lovable.
261
I'm not good in relationships, whatever it might be.
262
I am blank.
263
You need to change those to a positive label.
264
I've said this before in the past, I've had episodes on it before in the past.
265
There's an ancient Hebrew word that is abracadabra, which most people think that's when you pull a rabbit out of a hat, but abracadabra in Hebrew means,
266
as I speak, I create.
267
As I speak, I create.
268
Whatever I speak out of my mouth, I am creating in my reality.
269
you gotta ask yourself, what are you speaking?
270
What reality are you creating?
271
And if I think something, that's speaking in my head.
272
So I'm also got to pay attention to not only what I'm speaking, but also what I'm thinking, because that alone will change my reality.
273
And so when I became really clear on speaking and getting all trying to get like, I try to imagine all 40 trillion of my cells in my body.
274
believing the thing that I'm saying?
275
How can I wash all 40 trillion of myself to believing and knowing that what I want in this world is possible?
276
And so that's the five habits that really changed my life.
277
So what I would recommend that you do, take any of these that you like, put them into your day, try them for the week, and see if it changes your life as well.
278
