1
This is Headbangers Ball.
2
Edsel and Virus from Dope are here tonight.
3
Welcome, guys.
4
What's up, brother?
5
Good to see you again.
6
Good to see you, man.
7
American Apathy is the name of their latest CDs, which is in store now on Artemis Records.
8
So tell us, you know, how it was different recording it from the last three.
9
You had, you know, you got the new label.
10
Well, Artemis Proper is now promoting it.
11
You just finished a Mushroom Red tour
12
or it's kind of been the same old do -it -yourself
13
uh bust your ass mentality i can say ass right yes yes you can good sorry about
14
that um you know just doing our thing man we recorded
15
a lot of this record on tour just like recorded a
16
lot of the last record on tour you guys have like a mobile rig with you
17
or i got an hd pro tools rig i just have
18
it on i had a nice case built for it rolls right back in the back of the bus
19
and like that way cool it's the same studio at home
20
and it is on tour you know a couple good mic pre's all you need you know the story
21
but um just been been doing that
22
and touring non -stop like always we're actually all kind of
23
i think just really getting to the point where we're uh focusing on our lives a little bit
24
because we've been so nuts touring so much
25
and we got to go back to japan here next week for halloween
26
and okay just doing what we do man cool crazy well we got more to talk about
27
but right now we're going to see a headbangers ball premiere
28
from mud vein here they are with forget to remember i forgot that
29
dope is hanging out with me here tonight we're talking about their new album american apathy
30
and uh let's talk about the videos because the new one survived
31
which we've been playing for a while now you got a cool story behind
32
that which you should tell all the uh people at home yeah it was fun man
33
because the song is sort of a testament to the band
34
being around as long as we have it's our fourth record now
35
and um we shot all the live footage in japan the last time that We were there, and we just got this idea of,
36
since the sentiment of the song was about the band and how the band has grown and progressed through the years, we went back to all the video footage of every video the band's ever shot
37
and cut in clips of it to sort of walk the timeline of Dope through the years.
38
So anybody that's familiar with our older stuff can see little clips of it throughout the video
39
and just see where the band started and where we're at now.
40
And didn't you do a video for every song in the last album?
41
Yes.
42
So is there footage from every...
43
Not every single one, but at least a couple to show you that time frame.
44
Okay.
45
From that record.
46
Yeah, from that record.
47
But yeah, there was no way, because if we were in like 20 -something videos now, it would have been ridiculous.
48
We made sure to show lots of the silver chicks, though, because it's very important.
49
Can't get enough of that.
50
Indeed.
51
Although they did make us take lots of shots of them.
52
We could not show any of the body parts.
53
Okay.
54
We had to make sure the head was in the shot.
55
I was bummed out.
56
Yeah, you know.
57
There's the standards of practice.
58
I understand.
59
Young kids are watching at home.
60
But anyways, let's see it right now.
61
Now here's Dope with Survive.
62
Check it out.
63
This is Headbangers Ball.
64
Dope has been hanging out with me.
65
So Virus, tell us about, there was a website where fans actually got to, you know, communicate with you directly and ask you a bunch of questions.
66
Yeah, the first thing I want to say, that really was me.
67
Like people were like, is that you?
68
And it really was, that was a lot of fun.
69
It's all a scam.
70
It was really, I liked it.
71
Did people ruin it all?
72
Well, you know what, the funny thing is they ask these really personal strange questions about like your underwear or something ridiculous, but we did that for a little while,
73
and then at the same time, Edsel was starting his Metal Edge column, straight dope, so then we just figured, you know, that's kind of more important than that.
74
And that's on the web too, or is it in the web?
75
No, it's in a magazine every month, thanks for reading, appreciate it, way to go, bro.
76
This guy's not in a loop.
77
Hey, I get Metal Edge, I do read it. but uh but yeah
78
so we were we kind of had been talking about doing this thing the whole time
79
and then a fan site i think reached out to him unbeknownst to our publicist
80
or anybody's knowledge and we thought it was a little conflict of interest for the time being
81
but you could probably start it up now
82
that my column's sailing along i don't want to take me i mean it's
83
so good that he you know he knows all about it
84
but uh you can write me sometime
85
if you have any problem with your social life you just
86
let me know that's true i mean fans can probably just go to the dope website
87
and contact you guys directly yes dope army dot com I'm going for the plug right now all right that's
88
so thanks for stopping by it's good to see you good luck in Japan
89
and go out and check out dope's new CD American apathy it's in stores right now
90
and right now got a video it was a special request
91
from me here's cannibal corpse this is staring through the eyes of the dead
92
tonight on headbangers ball we're remembering Dimebag Daryl his music
93
and his legacy our favorite dime bag memory dude i think
94
it's got to be uh wjjo's band camp madison wisconsin two years back
95
and this uh actually was like it was 2004
96
and it was a damaged plan drowning pool us saliva saliva was there
97
and uh dime went up on stage and they're of course doing in the last song of the night, which was Walk, and it just,
98
the stage has turned into 50 musicians just running around like lunatics
99
and beer and go out there and sing with them
100
and uh it was like something you don't ever forget it was just
101
so inviting you know anybody
102
that was standing side stage didn't matter who you were he's
103
looking at you going come on man get some beer
104
and come up here
105
and sing for us come on this is the nicest most
106
wonderful dude you'll ever meet doesn't have to know you just it's hard that's all told him
107
that uh he should practice more yeah he's like hey i'm
108
dying he's like i'm as i was like you You really got to practice more.
109
And he goes, you're damn right about that, buddy.
110
He's amazing.
111
Yeah, awesome day.
112
We'll be missed.
