Hey what's up everybody this is Monkey and I am the guitarist, one of the guitarists for the band Korn.

And we're at Copenhagen.

We had a great set.

It started out and I wasn't sure if what the fans were going to be like.

And you know we're playing with some legends today and it's a real honor to share this same stage with them.

I'm very grateful that our band has lasted so long to make it to this point, to get to play with bands like Judas Priest, Kiss.

Amazing.

Okay, question one.

I feel like tone is always personal preference, and everybody likes a different sort of flavor.

If you look at it, kind of like, some people like extra cheese on their pizza.

Or, you know, I tend to like a little bit like some of the mids scooped.

But it depends on what you're doing.

I think everybody's different.

And I don't think you can really, if it feels good to play, it feels like an extension of what you want to hear, then that's a perfect tone for me.

I always feel like people overlook cables.

Cables are so important.

You have to have high quality cables.

And you're going to get the best sound.

And also make sure that you have good pickups.

These two, I think, can make or break your sound that you're trying to achieve.

I've been experimenting more with pickups.

And I've been trying some Seymour Duncans, some Fishmans, and I've been trying them with the Ibanez,

and with the DiMarzios, and kind of ABing them.

And they're all so different.

So I'm trying to figure out what's going to be in my new guitar.

I was just telling somebody about this story on the way over here to the show.

And the first time I heard a Black Sabbath record, I was like, what is that?

And the distortion in the guitar.

And then I heard Eddie Van Halen, Eruption.

First I heard Running With The Devil, and then Eruption follows it on the record.

And I was just like, I was baffled by the sound.

I didn't know what it was.

I was I think I was nine years old I was like how can I how can I do

that what do I I still you can't really

but the sound the energy the the attitude everything about it

I just I wanted to be I had to know it

I had to know like what how is the guitar distorted

how is it overdriven I wanted to know everything about it

so that's that kind of sent me on my on my journey in my path

and then I started following guys like Steve Vai and all these shredders, Joe Satriani.

And then I discovered what Jimmy Page was doing

and a lot of older players and and now I kind of appreciate so many different guitarists in in every genre really.

Recently I've started to kind of go back and relearn our old songs because when we first started

we didn't know what you know this is a minor core

this is a major this goes from a major to a minor

and with a flat five we we didn't know the theory behind what we were doing

so for me i'm learning how all this language of theory works

and how we applied it and didn't know

so i'm i'm trying to take what we did

and kind of like re-engineer moving forward and learning all this stuff now

so i feel like um i'm kind of educating myself on theory

and it's opening new doors for me musically with the guitar it's kind of like a new thing for me

so it's that's a lot it's been a lot lot of fun.

So around 1997, Fieldy, Head,

and myself were in London and Rage Against the Machine was playing at the Reading Festival.

And we had a day off, so we decided to drive out to the show.

We had our manager at the time rented a van and we drove out there and he was a nervous wreck.

But anyways, the best concert experience because they let us come on stage.

And if anybody knows Rage Against Pichette, they don't want anybody on their stage.

But we asked Tom Morello, who's such a nice guy.

And we asked him, can we please come on stage and watch?

He's like, I don't know.

I got to ask the other guys.

He went and asked the other guys.

They said, cool, but just make sure that they're tucked away and not seen.

And they let us watch from up on the stage and we've never seen a crowd like that.

I mean, they've broken to Bulls on Parade.

It's right when Bulls on Parade and the Ava Empire album came out.

And it was unbelievable.

Best concert experience ever.

If I had to be stranded on a desert island with one effect pedal, I think a delay pedal.

Probably a flashback delay pedal.

Because delay, you can play off of it.

It's almost like you can use it in a tempo type of way

and do a call and answer depending on what the setting is.

Or you can give it a slap back and make it almost sound like a reverb or an echo-y type of way.

But I feel like that has the most diverse effect for me.
