1
I'm actually quite good about taking time for myself where I disconnect from everything.
2
You know, I'm a great believer, you know, when people take vacation but they're online the whole time, that's not a vacation, that's telecommuting from a beach, right?
3
And so one could argue that in our modern day and age, we actually take zero vacation, and we have zero evenings and zero weekends, and I think that's incredibly unhealthy.
4
And so as a company and as an individual, we're pretty good.
5
Like, if I get emails on a weekend, if I look at them, which I don't always, I will not reply until Monday because it's the weekend.
6
You know?
7
There's always exceptions.
8
And when I go on vacation, I tell my team I'm on vacation.
9
If there's an emergency, deal with it, right? Because I'm on vacation.
10
And quite frankly, anybody who goes to a retreat or an offsite
11
or takes a day off and checks in on a regular basis, nothing says I don't trust my team more than feeling the need to check in every hour.
12
You're literally telling people, you can't do this without me.
13
I have to be on every email.
14
So I'm really good when I decide to disconnect, to completely disconnect from work.
15
And I understand that ideas, I recognize that we talk about work-life balance.
16
Work and life are not opposing forces.
17
Balance is the wrong analogy.
18
I'm the same person at home as I am at work.
19
It's just different clothes and a different table I sit at.
20
And so what I try and do is recognize that it's all my life.
21
And there's no difference in where I am and what I'm doing.
22
And so what I'm trying to do is live a balanced life in general.
23
And I work to ensure that creative things are very much a part of it.
24
That can be making things, but that can also be going to see things.
25
I think it's very important for people to take time off, to look at art, see theater, whatever your thing is.
26
I think you need to engage with something
27
that challenges your brain in a way that doesn't challenge you every single day so that you see the world differently.
28
I have many, many ideas sitting in places they don't expect to have ideas.

- 「that's not... that's...」:用於否定並重新定義,如「that's not a vacation, that's telecommuting from a beach」,簡潔有力,適合辯論或解釋概念。
- 「I think it's incredibly unhealthy」:「incredibly」強調程度,比「very」更生動,可用於表達強烈感受,如「incredibly useful」或「incredibly important」。
- 「nothing says... more than...」:表示「沒有什麼比...更能體現...」,如「nothing says I don't trust my team more than feeling the need to check in every hour」,用於強調某種行為的含義,口語中很實用。
此外,講者的連讀如「take time off」中的「take time」會輕讀「k」,需仔細模仿。
