Hey there!
2
Thanks for clicking on this video.
3
I assume you want to improve your English speaking and or work on your American English pronunciation.
4
So this shadowing practice is going to be a swift one.
5
I am going to have you repeat after me and then you're going to shadow this story with me.
6
So you're going to say it at the same time as me matching my intonation,
7
rhythm, pronunciation of the words and the overall flow of the language.
8
Usually in my shadowing videos I stop and give you some tips or point out the specific pronunciation of some words,
9
but for this one we're just going to dive right in.
10
I'm not going to make any comments or stop.
11
I came up with a story that used a lot of common expressions we use in English,
12
but also some really descriptive language so that you guys can expand your vocabulary through this practice.
13
If there's a word you don't know,
14
try before looking it up in your native language to use context clues,
15
so that is using the story as a whole,
16
to try and guess what the word means.
17
And this is really good for building fluency as well.
18
You can repeat this practice as many times as it feels comfortable.
19
And if you want more in-depth shadowing practices,
20
check out the other shadowing practices I have over on my channel in my shadowing practice playlist.
21
But if you've been doing shadowing practices with me for a while,
22
or you really just want to get rid of all the noise and focus in and practice your English speaking without stopping,
23
then let's go.
24
English made easy with Claire.
25
So first you're going to listen and then repeat after me and then I'll let you know when to shadow.
26
Last weekend I decided to go on a long walk even though the weather looked a little questionable.
27
The sky was gray and it felt like it might rain at any moment,
28
but I told myself I needed some fresh air.
29
So I grabbed my headphones,
30
put on some music, and headed out anyway.
31
At first, everything was great,
32
and I remember thinking how glad I was I got out of the house.
33
Okay, we're going to shadow that whole section together.
34
Say it with me.

45
I had taken a different route than usual,
46
just to explore a bit,
47
but now nothing looked familiar.
48
The streets were empty, my phone battery was low,
49
and of course that's when it started raining.
50

70
I tried to find somewhere to wait it out, but everything was closed.
71
So I just kept walking, hoping I'd recognize something.
72
At this point I wasn't even listening to my music anymore.
73
I was just focused on getting back.
74
My shoes were wet and I was starting to regret every decision I had made that morning.
75

82
Finally, after what felt like forever,
83
I saw a street I recognized.
84
I was so relieved.
85
I walked faster, almost running,
86
and when I got home,
87
I just stood there for a second,
88
dripping water all over the floor.
89
Thinking next time I'll bring an umbrella if I think it's going to rain.
90
Okay, let's shadow this section.

100
But honestly, looking back, it wasn't that bad.
101
It was uncomfortable, sure, but also kind of funny.
102
And now at least I know a new part of the city,
103
even if I found it completely by accident.
104
Okay, let's shadow the final section.
105
