and as social scientists we're trying to understand why society is the way it is, why are there rich people,

why there poor people, why have we got inequality, what makes a society flourish?

It's a collection of academic disciplines that are orientated to investigating our or experiences of the human world.

Some subjects, if you study them, you're studying really a very narrow set of skills,

whereas social science gives you a very broad range of skills which is very attractive to a wide range of employers.

The key thing that distinguishes a social science degree is that you get a set of analytical skills.

You learn how to approach a problem analytically, you learn some critical thinking skills and these things are marketable.
