Pratica di Shadowing: Why I Teach English Differently - Impara a parlare inglese con i video

1
The only way to get fluent in English is with input.
2
We need to listen and listen and listen to hundreds of hours of English.
3
And the quicker that we want to become fluent, the more English we need to listen to.
4
Now, this might sound intimidating, but the good news is that this is the only thing that we need to do.
5
we don't need to learn grammar rules
6
and we don't need to memorize vocabulary the only thing
7
that we need to do is get input whether that is listening
8
or reading and this is great news because it makes learning english really simple you can forget any complex language learning plans
9
all you need to do is say okay I'm going to listen to 30 minutes an hour two hours of English
10
every day and then do it
11
and it makes learning English really simple the theory behind why this works is called comprehensible input
12
and it's the idea that we acquire language by receiving messages that we can understand.
13
Now, our brains are pattern recognizing machines.
14
They are designed to recognize patterns between a word and its meaning.
15
So to acquire language we just need to listen to messages
16
that we can understand over and over again and then our brain will reinforce the connection between the word
17
and the meaning and that is how it works and that is how we acquire language.
18
Now because we need to hear words over and over again
19
so that the connection between the words and the meaning is reinforced, because we need that to happen over
20
and over again we need to listen to hundreds of hours of content
21
and that content has to be easy enough for you to understand
22
but also interesting enough for you to want to watch it
23
so english has to become a habit it has to become part of your life it has to be something
24
that you just do on a daily basis so
25
when you sit down to watch youtube videos instead of watching
26
in your native language you can watch it in English instead
27
and that is such a good way to get that repetition
28
and listen and get that immersion that you need to become fluent.
29
This is exactly how I learned Spanish.
30
I watched two hours of Spanish every day and it took me a while to reach this point
31
but now I can understand a lot of what I hear in Spanish and I started from zero.
32
and it's just a habit.
33
I do it because I enjoy it and
34
because I enjoy it I can do it every day consistently
35
and because I can do it consistently I'm confident
36
that my level will continue to improve and I've noticed
37
that there isn't a lot of intermediate level content for people who are learning English.
38
There is lots of beginner content and obviously there is an abundance of native content
39
but there isn't a lot of content for people in the middle, intermediate learners.
40
And I want to make content for intermediate level learners,
41
but I want the content to be the type of thing that you would normally watch,
42
but adapted to be for someone who is learning English.
43
And you're focused on the content and you're watching because hopefully it would be interesting
44
and then you naturally pick up English because it's delivered in a way that you can understand.
45
Now everyone has different interests but I would imagine that most English learners have at least some interest in British culture.
46
Things like our history, our food, how we we interact with each other
47
and I'm interested in these things as well
48
so I thought why not make some content that I enjoy making
49
that I'm interested in and other people might find interesting as well
50
and I often in my spare time watch documentaries and history it's something
51
that I really enjoy so I thought why don't I have a go at making
52
that type of content for someone who is learning English
53
because it's something like I said that I enjoy and something
54
that I think could be useful for someone who is looking to learn English in a more natural way.
55
If this sounds interesting start with one of my most recent videos.
56
I've been exploring South London and I've tried to make them interesting and easy to follow.
57
So thank you for watching and I will see you in the next video.
