Let's + verbo, Don't + verbo — proporre o dire a qualcuno cosa fare
1.Forma
L'imperativo inizia con la forma base del verbo e non ha soggetto (si sottintende “you”). Negativa: Don't + forma base.

2.A che cosa serve

3.Renderlo più cortese
L'imperativo può suonare piuttosto diretto. Per addolcirlo:
- Aggiungi please all'inizio o alla fine: Please wait here. / Wait here, please.
- Aggiungi just per un'azione piccola e veloce: Just sign here.
- Trasformalo in una domanda quando chiedi un favore: Could you open the window? (vedi la lezione “Richieste, offerte e permessi”).
Con sconosciuti, colleghi o il tuo capo, preferisci “Could you…?” all'imperativo, anche se aggiungi please.
4.Let's: proporre di fare qualcosa insieme
Let's + forma base (= let us) invita gli altri a fare qualcosa con te. Negativa: Let's not + forma base.
Let's go for a walk.
Andiamo a fare una passeggiata.
Let's not argue about it.
Non litighiamo per questo.
5.Aggiungere you per dare enfasi
A volte chi parla aggiunge you per dividere i compiti o per dare enfasi: You wait here, I'll get the car. Senza un tono amichevole può sembrare autoritario.
6.Errori comuni
Not touch it!Don't touch it!
La negativa usa don't.
Don't to open the door.Don't open the door.
Niente to dopo don't.
Don't be worry.Don't worry.
worry è un verbo e non vuole be.
Be not late.Don't be late.
Anche la negativa di be usa don't.
Let's to go.Let's go.
Forma base senza to dopo let's.
