1
hi everyone welcome back to my channel i hope you are
2
all doing well um for those of you who are new to this channel my name is rugbyr singh um
3
and i'm a daily vlogger you can say i travel i vlog about travel food
4
and pretty much everything that i do
5
and for those of you who are returning viewers thank you
6
very much for your support since day one now today's video is a little bit different from our previous videos
7
because today we're going to talk about an experience
8
that i had yesterday and
9
that experience was the emirates airlines assessment day for the position of a cabin crew now
10
if you are planning to be uh or
11
if you're planning to attend the emirates assessment or recruitment
12
or open day they call it i suggest you stick around in this video
13
because i'm going to give you a quick quick overview of
14
uh what it was like to to attend the assessment day
15
uh what do you what you can expect to do at the assessment day
16
and what you should and what you should not do
17
so i'll give you a very quick overview uh a very
18
like um quick guidelines to help you uh master through uh the day
19
and probably also suggest some some things
20
that you must try to avoid um at the assessment day
21
so let's start off with the first thing that you do um
22
that is um try to arrive actually the first thing
23
that you should do is try to arrive at least 30
24
minutes before the the start of your um your your your time
25
so let's say if you were
26
if you were scheduled to start at nine make sure you
27
get there at least by 8 30 8 45 now the first thing
28
that you're going to do is register now registration usually is
29
done online however yesterday they were not really prepared for it
30
and they had to do i would say about 80 percent of the registrations are on the spot
31
because a lot of people just thought it's an open day
32
and they popped up at the venue
33
but i had my registration then online at their career website
34
so be sure to double check with that
35
if you're heading to the open day without any registration or you got an invitation by registering online on their website.
36
Now the registration is done then you will be given a candidate number
37
and based on the candidate number you will be divided into groups.
38
So depending on the number of people
39
that are present at the day of assessment you might be broken into a group of five or a group of ten.
40
for us we were split into a group of 10 after you've been divided into groups you will be
41
asked to present yourselves in front of the whole room as a group just a very brief self-introduction
42
and that self-introduction should be about 40 seconds to 50 seconds or at least 30 seconds
43
so 30 to 50 seconds try to keep it between
44
that now 30 to 30 to 40 seconds is actually not
45
a lot of time for you to explain like to introduce yourself because usually
46
when we go to interviews 30 to 40 seconds you usually take up by just telling your name your age
47
and uh that's pretty much it you know
48
so uh you really have to be sharp and to the point with what you say um
49
usually what they're expecting you to say in this self-introduction is obviously your name, your age, any customer service experience.
50
That is what they want to hear.
51
And these are the main three things.
52
And another interesting thing that they might ask you, like for us they did was, if you are actually selected to be a cabin crew at Emirates,
53
what would be your first dream destination to fly to?
54
And so these are the four things
55
that they asked us to mention obviously i did mention
56
that oh my name is rugby saying i'm 29 years old
57
and i've had several years of customer service experience
58
because i've worked in the food and hospitality industry for about two years
59
and i've also had a front-hand sales experience dealing with customers walking in to the stores
60
and online customer service experience as well so that's what i mentioned
61
and my dream destination was madrid
62
because as i said um i am a really big football fan
63
and i really want to see real madrid play
64
and at their home stadium so you can just make things up for the last questions
65
but for the first three parts you have to make sure
66
that you are really confident in what you say um this first part of the assessment day is really important
67
because this is where they eliminate almost 50% of the candidates.
68
So we had about 100 people um yesterday at the at the assessment
69
and after the first round only 48 were left and we were really everyone was pretty shocked
70
um to how um how big the numbers were when they
71
when people were walking out the door
72
so um i didn't know i i actually made it through the first round
73
so what they're looking for um uh in this first round
74
is how well you're able to articulate yourself how well you are able to
75
express your ideas in short direct and a proper manner
76
and your body language when you're when you're giving yourself introduction
77
that really matters as well and obviously your language skills you know
78
if you are a bit nervous you're a bit shaky
79
so these are the type of things
80
that they're looking for obviously they want someone who is confident who is loud
81
and clear and um just to the point you know that's what they're looking for here now
82
round one's done you've made it to the next round right now the next round is uh really interesting
83
because it's a group discussion
84
and it's the same thing in the group you might be divided into a group of 10
85
or group of 12 in our case it was a group
86
of 12 after you're done dividing yourselves into a group
87
and you're sat together in a circle your group will be given a topic
88
a situation actually and for us it was a situation that we are flying from dubai to new york
89
and on the flight there were seven situations
90
that occurred at the same time and we as a crew had to prioritize each
91
and every situation based on its importance and its priority
92
so as a group your your aim is to prioritize each
93
and every one of those from one to seven and give a presentation
94
at the end of the 15 to 20 minutes discussion to why your group thinks
95
that this is number one number two number three and
96
so on and
97
while you're discussing amongst your group um the the recruiters the hr they will walk around the hall
98
and they'll try to take notes
99
and uh also one of the recruiters will set up the height uh measurements
100
so um for emirates i think the minimum height was 165 centimeters
101
and the minimum reach was 212 centimeters now their minimum reach is slightly higher than other airlines primarily
102
because of their a380s yeah so
103
while you're doing your group discussion you will be asked to come out remove your shoes measure your height
104
and do the reach and once you're done doing
105
that dress yourself back and go back to your seat
106
and continue the discussion
107
and uh again uh in this in this round uh apart from the height
108
and reach what they're looking for is how well you're able
109
to uh uh give off ideas in a group discuss uh
110
some people tend to be more assertive on top of the
111
others however this is what they do not want you to do
112
because the the biggest thing um in a cabin crew is
113
that you should be a team player and
114
if you're trying to assert yourself onto others um
115
that is going to be a big turnoff for the recruiters obviously uh you would want to lead
116
but lead in a way that you listen to others as well
117
and obviously you have to speak up
118
because since they're walking around there's there's only
119
so many people they can look at and if you speak loud
120
and clear they'll be able to you know you'll able to stand out
121
so that's what you really want to do be loud
122
and clear and really just just sell yourself the best you can in the group interview right
123
so when the group discussions are done your group will come out again you'll stand in line
124
and then pretty much just explain what are the priorities
125
that your group's at and then explain
126
that you you will divide the roles amongst your group who will be saying what
127
and who will be doing what
128
so that's very internal depending on your group now once
129
that is done you will be given another 15 to 20 minute break right
130
and after the break when you come into the room they will have this projection screen
131
and on the projection screen they will show numbers so
132
if your number is on the screen congratulations you moved on to the next round now
133
if not then you're out and you can reapply for this position six months later
134
because that's a cooling off period
135
so let's say you moved on to the next round
136
and what is going to be the the next round that is the English language test.
137
Now the English language test, there's no standard
138
questions because it's an online test that you have to do on your phones
139
or on your tablets uh on your gadgets whatever you bring along with you
140
and uh they will show a qr code on the screen you scan it
141
and then they will probably uh redirect you to the to
142
the link where the test is uh the test is is is really simple i mean
143
if you've done i also toffle i think can get through it i'll try to find a link
144
and i'll i'll leave it in the in the description below
145
so if you want to have a mock uh english language test for emirates click the link below
146
and then you can probably just uh try to practice once
147
or twice before you really uh go for the assessment of
148
the recruitment days now after the english language test is done
149
you've passed with flying colors uh you will be uh moving on to the last part of the assessment day
150
which is the one-to-one interview now the one-to-one interview can be really daunting at times
151
but again it's just going to be a mixture of mixture
152
of the first two rounds basically you will be asked to uh give you give a self-introduction
153
but a very detailed one now you'll have a lot more time instead of the 30 seconds
154
maybe you'll have one minute one minute and a half
155
or up to two minutes for you to do your self-introduction
156
and once you're done with your self-introduction then it's just going back
157
and forth with the recruiters answering questions uh like why you want to work for emirates why do you feel
158
that you'll be the best candidate and what do you feel are the best qualities of a um
159
qualities that a cabin crew must must possess
160
so it really depends on how well you plan these questions uh plan for these questions
161
and uh again the main thing is be confident uh don't
162
try to uh give a lot of big pauses in your answers
163
because then it really shows
164
that you're not ready you're not confident in what you want to say
165
and just try to be logical with your answers because uh
166
they also know that there's there's a lot of things going through your mind
167
but you know so So if you try to be logical, if you try to be direct, then it'll be pretty good.
168
And after that, then it's just a waiting game.
169
You know, once you're done the face-to-face interview, they'll thank you for coming and then so on.
170
So if you are not successful after that, when you get home, you'll probably get an email saying thank you very much.
171
In my case, I was not successful as well.
172
When I went home about 7, 8 p.m., I got an email saying thank you for your time.
173
unfortunately we're not able to process uh go go ahead with your application
174
but be sure to apply for other emirate opportunities
175
or the same position six months later uh however
176
if you are um uh accepted then you will get what they call a golden call
177
and uh with the golden call usually comes around a week
178
or a month it really depends from people to people uh
179
once you get the golden call you will be flying to dubai for their eight week intensive training
180
and eventually if you pass the tests
181
if you pass the practicals then you will be ready to fly as a as an emirates cabin crew congratulations
182
so let me just sum up everything once again
183
because i know there's a lot of details
184
that i mentioned a lot of things that i mentioned
185
and you might have missed out
186
so what happens on the assessment day is number one registration
187
number two self introduction for your group number two group interview scenario
188
and prioritizing the tasks that they've given you
189
and number four the english language test and number five the one-on-one
190
or face-to-face interview with the recruiters
191
and eventually number six would be the ideal situation for everyone
192
that is the golden call right so um some things to keep in mind dress well uh the
193
main thing would be to tidy up your hair properly go
194
clean shave now obviously i had my reasons i couldn't shave
195
so i told them they said it's okay no problem in the interviews uh we can excuse it
196
but if you're selected then you do have to do it
197
and i was like yeah no problem um so clean shave for men
198
and wear a dark colored suit a nice iron shirt with a proper tie
199
proper shoes belt leather belt try to wear a leather belt black or brown really depends on your choice or your
200
what color of suit you're wearing and for ladies try to be really professional as well.
201
You know, a proper business formals outfit will be really, really helpful.
202
Keep your hair neat and tidy, dress well, dress to impress as they say
203
and uh try to cover up tattoos honestly um make sure
204
there's no tattoos on your visible body parts on your hands
205
on your arms on your necks um you know anywhere um
206
so anywhere outside of your shoulders uh for you know it's a big no-no they don't like
207
because if even if it's on the arm
208
if get selected then their shirt material is quite see-through
209
so people can see your tattoos um
210
so tattoos are a big no-no just try to cover it up or let them know that i have a tattoo
211
and then they'll they can let you know if it's acceptable
212
or if it's not acceptable and so on
213
and uh be loud be clear uh be confident try not to shake too much
214
when you're speaking or move your hands too much when you're speaking
215
and when you're talking look at the recruiters eye to eye give them some eye content eye contact
216
and also look at your group mates in the eyes
217
when you're talking it really helps uh it actually then it actually shows
218
that you're actually communicating with the wider group instead of just looking at one person
219
or just looking around at one spot in the room you know
220
that really helps
221
and uh try to be logical with your answers uh some
222
people try to to say a lot of extra stuff that really doesn't make sense.
223
I was trying to look for the right word
224
and I had one in mind but it wouldn't be appropriate for the video.
225
So try to be really logical with your answers and
226
if you're logical and it makes sense then you'll be in the good.
227
Be really careful with your body language because if you're slouching too much
228
or if you're moving too much then it doesn't look really professional you know.
229
What you want to do is you want to sit up
230
straight with your hands on your knees you know as for boys
231
or for girls what i what i what i noticed a
232
lot of girls doing was uh they had their hands like this placed right in the middle
233
so that and for boys just sit up straight with your hands on your knees and uh be confident just um
234
be like you're the best person in the room and when you're standing make sure you have your hands
235
like this you know just in front of you
236
and uh don't move around too much
237
when you're standing stand still with your shoulders out you know
238
your chest up front just be confident you know just be
239
like a big guy standing like like like a bodyguard like
240
that right so that that's what you want to do
241
and uh some things to avoid is talking too loud
242
when other people are presenting uh because it really disturbs everyone
243
and uh don't be unnecessarily clapping for things
244
if everyone is clapping then you can join along uh
245
because there there were some instances yesterday where a group might be presenting
246
and then some people would just uh clap at a person's self intro
247
and that is really unnecessary you know really um just disturbs the recruiters
248
and the the candidates as well and uh don't chew gum uh it's not professional
249
if you're chewing gum on in an interview
250
and uh drink water yeah you can do
251
that you can drink water have your coffee if you
252
if you brought along that's completely acceptable uh you don't have
253
to raise your hand to ask you know we're not kids anymore
254
so so that's that's just a few things that you have to be mindful of uh but all in all
255
I would say
256
if you're going to your Emirates assessment day don't be nervous just be yourself just give it your best
257
and if you give it your best don't worry
258
if you don't make it because there were people
259
that were coming there for the seventh time I was really
260
shocked they were like oh I've been to Canada I've been
261
to Malaysia I've been to all parts of the world for their recruitment days
262
and this is my seventh attempt and I don't know
263
if they made it or not I hope they did
264
because seven times is a lot that's a lot of commitment just to be an emirates crew so um
265
yeah that's pretty much what you can expect on the emirates assessment day from what my experience was yesterday
266
and i hope you uh had something to take away from this video
267
and um if you have any more questions
268
if you want to clarify something
269
that i've just said just hit me up just comment down in the video
270
and i'll let you know
271
if you want to um ask me personally i'll i'll this
272
is my instagram id you can just drop me a dm there as well
273
and i'll be more than happy to help you guys
274
and um i'm actually now planning to uh do the etihad assessment day as well at etihad airways
275
so if i do end up being called up for the interviews i'll let you guys know
276
and we'll also do a video on their assessment day
277
and how it goes uh but that is to be seen
278
because i've only applied for them i'm still waiting for the emails on their online tests on interviews
279
and hopefully uh face-to-face interviews
280
so thank you guys very much i hope you guys learned something from this video
281
and i'll see you guys in the next one thank you very much take care bye

「Emirates Assessment Day | Quick Guidelines & Tips | Real Experience | Cabin Crew Interview | Success」
