7
For me, one of the best ways to learn English, or anything, is to go over what you have studied again and again,
8
to repeat what you have recently focused on.
9
For many English learners, this exercise might seem dull and boring, but in reality the action of repetition is crucial,
10
especially when you are trying to get those all -important words and rules to go into and stay in your brain.
11
Let's be honest, learning is basically a process of putting things in and keeping them in there until needed,
12
a little like putting things in a cupboard until you need them.
13
At first you might forget where they are, but over time you become familiar with where those things are and where they go.
14
It is exactly the same process as learning a new skill.
15
The more you do something, the easier it becomes to remember it.
16
That is the reason why repeating new words,
17
reviewing grammar rules, reciting a short poem or story is so important.
18
As a matter of fact you can repeat anything again and again whilst learning and the result will be the same.
19
You will remember it.
20
Never be afraid to read and repeat.
21
Listen and repeat.

Review and repeat.
23
The very basic rule The rule of learning anything states that the best way to learn something is to repeat it.
24
Now, listen to this lesson again.
25
Absorb the words.
26
Take in the advice.
27
And of course, have fun!

About This Lesson

You're practicing English with "LEARNING ENGLISH - LESSON 1 ( Repeat and Remember)" using the Shadowing technique — a method originally developed for professional interpreter training.

Focus on sounding like the speaker — not just repeating words. With 15–30 minutes of daily practice, you'll build real-world speaking confidence.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
