Shadowing Practice: We Need New Food System - Learn English Speaking with Video

Creating lesson...
1
Our food system having a big problem now because we develop our food system to depend on outside too much.
2
In the past, every life, every communities, every people, they have their own food system.
3
They can be independent.
4
In each village, they grow their own food,
5
they have their own forest they have river they have pond where they can get their food easily
6
so everywhere they are independent like that if some town
7
or some village have problem another place will have no problem
8
because they are independent they do not rely on outside too much
9
that is security in our life in the past
10
but now it looks like we are so developed we
11
so civilized but our food is depend on
12
so many things outside for example in thailand we need to
13
depend on a lot of fertilizer from petroleum products from middle
14
east we need to buy a lot of chemical from a few company from the western country.
15
We cannot grow without this thing anymore because we were trained to believe that we have to depend on this thing.
16
And then whatever happens, it impacts everybody immediately.
17
Like now, we have the war in the Middle East we have the big problem with farming in Thailand now.
18
Many farmers, they cannot afford to do farming anymore.
19
It's so sad.
20
I think the most important thing is we need to design new food system for us.
21
Everywhere in the world, we need new food system.
22
We need our own technique, our own way to grow our food.
23
and then we need to depend on the material in our area to grow food.
24
We don't need to depend on outside so much.
25
To make our life more secure, every people, every family, every village,
26
every town, every city, they need to have their own food system.
27
They cannot depend on outside so much.
28
Now, we think in the business way.
29
We plan our life in the business way.
30
We feel like if we can make money, a lot of money from industrial,
31
we just focus on industrial work.
32
We don't need to think about farming.
33
We can make a lot of money.
34
We can use money to buy food from somewhere else where they can produce food very cheap price.
35
That is the way we think.
36
But this thinking causes a lot of problems from now on.
37
Because when we depend on outside so much, everything happens, it will interrupt the system immediately.
38
Because the whole world connects together.
39
Whatever interrupts the system, it interrupts the whole world.
40
So we need to learn from this lesson.
41
We need to design new food systems.
42
Every family, every village, every town, every city, we need to plan to do zoning
43
or to have a system to have a group of people who grow food for feed our own communities.
44
and each community we need to change our mindset about garbage.
45
How can we change the way we think about garbage?
46
Now we think garbage is garbage.
47
Garbage is a problem.
48
So we need to think garbage is gold.
49
Garbage is food.
50
How can we turn garbage into food or turn to gold, to money?
51
We can do that.
52
So if we campaign to start the new thinking,
53
new trend to separate garbage every house,
54
we can produce the garbage in every place will be enough to make compost,
55
to grow food, to feed that town, that city only the garbage is more than enough to produce food,
56
to feed people in that city.
57
This is very important thing to think about it.
58
Because now when we think garbage is garbage, we need to spend so much money to get rid of the garbage.
59
Instead of using money to get rid of the garbage, We can use this money to campaign,
60
to change the way of thinking of people.
61
That we need to use this garbage to make compost to make good food for us to feed us
62
if we do that we will save a lot of money in each town
63
because the money that we get rid of the garbage is quite a big amount of money
64
money that we buy fertilizer from another country to use is a lot of money too so
65
if we use this money to develop our compost system in
66
each town each city its village we will produce a lot of compost for sure we know
67
that we we have experience about this
68
and then we have a lot of compost we We can grow good food to feed our own town,
69
our own community easily.
70
If we do this way, we will save a lot of transportation for the food.
71
For example, in Thailand now, people from the south, 1,000 kilometers away from the north,
72
they need to deliver cabbages, Chinese cabbages and lettuce from the north to the south.
73
That costs a lot of money for transportation.
74
So if we plan to grow food in each region, they have their own food system,
75
they have the compost factory,
76
they have farmers around, So all the food will not be transferred longer than 100 kilometers.
77
That will save a lot of money.
78
And then it will be the way to spread the income to many people in the local area.
79
This is a way to decrease the gap between the rich and the poor.
80
Nobody will monopolize the food.
81
We can make the food cheaper and cheaper and better and better.
82
because we know that we grow food in our area, in our province.
83
People who live in the city,
84
they can feel proud of themselves that they can separate garbage and bring garbage to compost in the city factory.
85
And then they know that they give this compost to this farmer, to this farmer to grow rice, to grow vegetables, to grow fruit.
86
and then they can go visit this farm.
87
This is the way we reconnect together in the whole town, in the whole village.
88
And then food will be in our hands.
89
We know where is the food come from.
90
We are one part of the food production.
91
We are one part of our communities.
92
We know each other.
93
This is the way we can be independent on food.
94
but now we cannot do this because of the government
95
and the corporation they work together they are not support us to be like that
96
because we can depend on ourselves they don't want us to
97
depend on ourselves they want us to depend on them that's
98
why we need to import corn from the us to thailand
99
now why we need to get corn from the us
100
so far away that's
101
because of they want to monopolize the food there are a lot of reason
102
that they can explain to us why they have to do that But all the reason is just the reason for profit,
103
for business, not for sustainable life, not for sustainable way of living.
104
It's not for people.
105
It's for profit.
106
That's the biggest problem.
107
I think everywhere in the world, we can produce food everywhere.
108
We are in the same world.
109
We are not different.
110
We can always grow food anywhere.
111
It depends on how can we plan for it, how can we decide for it.
112
Food is security, food is freedom, food is happiness.
113
So everyone, every city, every town, we need to have food in our hands.
114
That is independent, that is freedom, that is happiness.
115
So now we need new design, new way of thinking about food.
116
We don't need to eat hamburger everywhere in the world.
117
We can have different kinds of food everywhere we go.
118
They have different food.
119
If we design our community in this way, I think whatever happens in the world,
120
it will not cause a big impact on our life much.
121
We can be more independent.
122
We will have less and less problems.
123
That is joy, that is fun to live together on this earth.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
