1
NASA's greatest successes are the moments when humanity dared to reach for the unknown.
2
We've touched the surface of the moon.
3
We've sent spacecraft to explore other planets.
4
We've peered into the expanses of the universe.
5
We've pushed the boundaries of what humanity thought possible.
6
And to do all this, we have to keep bringing new explorers into the fold.
7
When we talk about returning to the moon and reaching for Mars, we're talking about the people who will make those missions possible.
8
And many of them will begin their journey at NASA as students, interns, fellows, and apprentices.
9
My own path at NASA started this way.
10
And my experience as a Space Academy intern at Goddard Space
11
Flight Center didn't just teach me how to write code and build circuit boards.
12
It taught me what it felt like to contribute on a team to a seemingly impossible goal.
13
It taught me that uncertainty along my path was okay, and that failure and opportunity go hand in hand.
14
Exploration is a relay.
15
Each generation hands the baton to the next.
16
You all, whether you're currently interning at NASA, working on your application, or just starting to dream, you're doing so alongside the future engineers,
17
scientists, problem solvers, and mission leaders.
18
It's your ideas, relationships, and curiosity that will shape the missions that define this century of exploration.
19
And I've never been more confident in where we're headed next.
20
Thank you.
